About Bob or Patricia Myers

Owners of the property are Bob and Patricia Myers. We have lived in the area for over thirty years. We are building a second home on a grand scale toward the back of the cleared area. We are suppose to show you a picture of us doing something fun. But all we do is work, work, work.

Bob or Patricia Myers purchased this house in 1977

Why Bob or Patricia Myers chose Bigfork

About three acres are cleared and 17 acres are kept as a natural, wild-life-safe area. At various times we have seen wolves, coyotes, foxes, skunks, raccoons, wild turkeys, bear, lynx, mountain lions, and of course lots of deer, rarely elk and even rarer (but sighted just recently) a moose. There are a wide variety of bird species including cranes, eagles, osprey and several varieties of wood peckers. Occasionally the wild life come across the inhabited part of the property, but mostly they stay out of sight.

This year--2015--will be our first year that we have rented the house as a vacation rental. We have tried to think of everything to make our guests stay as pleasant and relaxing as possible, but if there is more that we could do, please let us know.

Cozy and beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

Nice house, very comfortable for my family of 6. Great view of Flathead lake, my son and I hike up the mountain on the back of the property and were rewarded with a breathtaking view. Close to BigFork shopping and dining. Very much enjoyed our stay. We will be back next year.

Great place!!

  • 5 of 5

Patricia and Bob Meyers and their son Todd , were wonderful hosts and down to earth people. Place was what we were looking for. Was able to hold my wife and I, her parents, who were 81 and 90 years old, and our son and grandson. We all had a very good stay. Great granddad wanted to spend a lot more time there. Loved it!!!! Nice property and accommodations were good. Fit our needs to a tee!! We did bring fans and extension cords because there is no air conditioning. The did have one fan at the house in the upper bedroom. At night the fans did cool off the house pretty well. Grandparents actually got cold and had to turn them off. It was in the upper 80's during the day. They have a fish pond with large monster rainbow trout that are their pets and grandson had a blast feeding them. They also have a large grass area for kids to play in. And some toys and puzzles. Just a nice family place.

Many thanks to the Meyers family!!!

Log cabin living along highway 35

  • 2 of 5

We've stayed at Home Away rentals around the world. This seemed a perfect fit for our family. Good news: abundant cherry trees which our grandchildren loved to pick; fire ring for outdoor fire; plenty of indoor space with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths; limited view of the lake from the cabin; washer and dryer. Bad news: dangerous driveway from which to enter and leave the property; cabin interior is rustic and in need of repairs (bathroom toilet and faucets were loose; during our hot weather stay we couldn't open all the windows because there weren't screens; cabin situated above the highway; kitchen supplies limited (need more glasses, mixing bowls and silverware). The photos show a trout pond on the property, however, we were disappointed that the trout are pets and not for fishing. Owners dog barked a lot, day and night. I would not recommend this property to friends or relatives. There are many other properties closer to the lake with good access. This property has no access to any lake activities.

Owner's Response: We could not understand why our dog kept running down to the other house to bark. Then we realized that they had a dog in the guest house. We did not know they had a dog but Jocko knew. Can't fool him. Hate it when our dog is smarter than we. The propery description states that we have a Jack Russell who is intolerant of other dogs, and we specify that though we love dogs, we cannot keep our dog locked up for days at at time. After we saw them walking their dog, we kept Jocko shut in or on a lease for the rest of their stay. He has not been a problem except for these guests. Our property description does NOT say that guests can fish for the 20 or so rainbow trout we have left from the 250 we started with 20 years ago. The fish would not last a month if we allowed everyone to fish for them. They are huge and beautiful and, in our eyes, very valuable. We DO encourage our guests to feed and enjoy the fish. Most people do not want to kill them but appeciate seeing these usully wild fish up close. Our cherry trees were laden with fruit which these guests picked in abundance though the fruit was not yet ripe, bitter and small and unsuitable for eating. Cherries do not ripen off the tree. I was heart sick when I saw how much fruit they had wasted , but I figured this was our fault for not explaining to them what was ripe and what was not. We counted this as a learning expereince for us. All the homes on the East Shore and, the West Shore as well, have driveways that lead directly onto a highway Our highway is also known as the East Shore Route. In the summer the highway is busy with lots of tourists. If you are looking for stop lights, avoid Flathead Lake. They knew when the rented the property( because it was cheap) that it did not have lake access. Homes with lake access charge considerably more per night than those which are not directly on the lake. However we have access to the lake within 3 miles one way and five the other. Again this is clearly stated in the property description. All the rooms have windows that open. Not sure why they could not manage that. Some windows are fixed glass and not meant to open and therefore have no screens. There are lots of dishes in the guest house. There were even more before their stay. They are right. We now need to buy some more. I want to gift them the lovely, soft, blue and white wool blanket from the front bedroom. Please appreciate it as much as I did.

We are located on the East Shore of the Flathead Lake between Bigfork and Polson on Highway 35. The property is 20 acres bordered by the National Forest Service on the East. We have great views of the Lake and are near several sites allowing public access to the Lake.

There are numerous golf courses in the area, an amazing local summer theater, galleries and shopping in quaint Bigfork. We are about 30 miles from Glacier National Park--a great day trip away. There are wineries and breweries on both sides of the lake. One can also rent boats and skis, canoes, inner tubes and other water paraphernalia in Bigfork as well as bikes. Charter fishing boats are also available.

There are a number of fine restaurant in Bigfork and Polson as well as in between, scattered along the East Shore Highway.

We have an abundance of fruit on the property. Step outside on a summer morn and pick fresh raspberries for your cereal. The sweet cherries usually ripen about the end of July but the season extends well into August. Also available in season are yellow plums, nectarines, peaches, pears, several varieties of apples as well as English walnuts.

There is a hiking trail on the property that eventually takes one into the National Forest and to the top of the mountain where one can see the full length (28 miles) of Flathead Lake--Polson at one end and Kalispell at the other.

Also on the property is a trout pond and a large flat, grassy area for games and entertaining. There are numerous shaded areas with comfortable seating where on can sit quietly and enjoy the clouds or read.
