This home sits on 20 acres just ten miles south of Bigfork. There are two homes on the property--the other being occupied by the owners/ managers. The homes are far apart insuring the privacy of our guests while still providing a resource for information and help if needed. There are over 100 fruit trees on the property and guests are welcome to enjoy the fruit as it ripens.
The house is wired for WiFi and has its own Wii, local TV, and a wide selection of reading material as well as games and puzzles.
The kitchen is well furnished with a microwave, coffeepot, toaster, blender, can opener, etc..The house also has a washer and a dryer.
The entire area has the feel of small-town America at its best with simple pleasures, a safe environment, warm sunny days, easily accessible fishing spots, a vast uncrowded lake, friendly people, nearby hiking trails, and abundant wild life.
But if you get tired of nature, there are also interesting shops, many churches, gambling, some galleries, breweries, summer theater with some of the best talent from colleges across the country, 12 golf courses, really first-class restaurants, outdoor concerts, as well as numerous special-event weekends.
Owners of the property are Bob and Patricia Myers. We have lived in the area for over thirty years. We are building a second home on a grand scale toward the back of the cleared area. We are suppose to show you a picture of us doing something fun. But all we do is work, work, work.
Bob or Patricia Myers purchased this house in 1977
About three acres are cleared and 17 acres are kept as a natural, wild-life-safe area. At various times we have seen wolves, coyotes, foxes, skunks, raccoons, wild turkeys, bear, lynx, mountain lions, and of course lots of deer, rarely elk and even rarer (but sighted just recently) a moose. There are a wide variety of bird species including cranes, eagles, osprey and several varieties of wood peckers. Occasionally the wild life come across the inhabited part of the property, but mostly they stay out of sight.
This year--2015--will be our first year that we have rented the house as a vacation rental. We have tried to think of everything to make our guests stay as pleasant and relaxing as possible, but if there is more that we could do, please let us know.
Patricia and Bob Meyers and their son Todd , were wonderful hosts and down to earth people. Place was what we were looking for. Was able to hold my wife and I, her parents, who were 81 and 90 years old, and our son and grandson. We all had a very good stay. Great granddad wanted to spend a lot more time there. Loved it!!!! Nice property and accommodations were good. Fit our needs to a tee!! We did bring fans and extension cords because there is no air conditioning. The did have one fan at the house in the upper bedroom. At night the fans did cool off the house pretty well. Grandparents actually got cold and had to turn them off. It was in the upper 80's during the day. They have a fish pond with large monster rainbow trout that are their pets and grandson had a blast feeding them. They also have a large grass area for kids to play in. And some toys and puzzles. Just a nice family place.
Many thanks to the Meyers family!!!
We've stayed at Home Away rentals around the world. This seemed a perfect fit for our family. Good news: abundant cherry trees which our grandchildren loved to pick; fire ring for outdoor fire; plenty of indoor space with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths; limited view of the lake from the cabin; washer and dryer. Bad news: dangerous driveway from which to enter and leave the property; cabin interior is rustic and in need of repairs (bathroom toilet and faucets were loose; during our hot weather stay we couldn't open all the windows because there weren't screens; cabin situated above the highway; kitchen supplies limited (need more glasses, mixing bowls and silverware). The photos show a trout pond on the property, however, we were disappointed that the trout are pets and not for fishing. Owners dog barked a lot, day and night. I would not recommend this property to friends or relatives. There are many other properties closer to the lake with good access. This property has no access to any lake activities.
Nice house, very comfortable for my family of 6. Great view of Flathead lake, my son and I hike up the mountain on the back of the property and were rewarded with a breathtaking view. Close to BigFork shopping and dining. Very much enjoyed our stay. We will be back next year.
We are located on the East Shore of the Flathead Lake between Bigfork and Polson on Highway 35. The property is 20 acres bordered by the National Forest Service on the East. We have great views of the Lake and are near several sites allowing public access to the Lake.
There are numerous golf courses in the area, an amazing local summer theater, galleries and shopping in quaint Bigfork. We are about 30 miles from Glacier National Park--a great day trip away. There are wineries and breweries on both sides of the lake. One can also rent boats and skis, canoes, inner tubes and other water paraphernalia in Bigfork as well as bikes. Charter fishing boats are also available.
There are a number of fine restaurant in Bigfork and Polson as well as in between, scattered along the East Shore Highway.
We have an abundance of fruit on the property. Step outside on a summer morn and pick fresh raspberries for your cereal. The sweet cherries usually ripen about the end of July but the season extends well into August. Also available in season are yellow plums, nectarines, peaches, pears, several varieties of apples as well as English walnuts.
There is a hiking trail on the property that eventually takes one into the National Forest and to the top of the mountain where one can see the full length (28 miles) of Flathead Lake--Polson at one end and Kalispell at the other.
Also on the property is a trout pond and a large flat, grassy area for games and entertaining. There are numerous shaded areas with comfortable seating where on can sit quietly and enjoy the clouds or read.
