Brian and Melody Potts built this home from the ground up in 2005 and 2006. The goal was the quintessential Colorado dream, a log home in the mountains nestled among the trees of a ski resort. We invite you to share our dream home experience.
Brian Potts purchased this cabin in 2006
We really enjoyed our time at this cabin. It has a more contemporary feel than the cabins we typically stay in. The master bedroom is so comfortable and spacious. There are great views of aspens and the valley below. The kitchen is filled with all the appliances, utensils, cooking tools needed to create a great family meal. Kids loved the game room. We saw a few cabins in the area while we were there and this one was the best by far!
My friends and family had a wonderful time staying at this Powderhorn cabin. Everyone in our group was impressed with the location, our first time staying there.
We had plenty of room to spread out, stay comfortable, play games, and make dinners. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies, not something that we've come to expect from a rental unit.
The deck provided wonderful views, and the hot tub was spacious. Couldn't ask for much more.
A little side note for those also staying at this home - the ski hill is accessible via a short walk, but it's not something I'd recommend doing in ski boots. We took our cars each day, just a few turns into the parking lot.
Also, the kitchen cabinets offer a nice lighting setup in which the lights are attached to the bottom of the cabinets providing ample lighting for the counter tops. However, beware - the lights heat up the cabinets, especially the bottom shelves. We had quite a few chocolate treats meet their demise by placing them in the bottom of the cabinets.
Thanks for a wonderful stay, we hope to visit again next year.
The homeowner was very responsive and the home was very clean. Only disappointment was no access to the garage but the homeowner did state this in his listing was just an oversight on our part We consider this a five star stay.
We rented this cabin for a lovely weekend with several friends for a birthday weekend. Brian was super nice on the phone and responded via emails quickly. 8 of us slept comfortably (2 couples, the rest singles). The place is beautifully furnished and has some amazing views! The hot tub at night was especially awesome with it snowing both nights. Very close to powderhorn if you wish to partake in snowboarding or skiing. Would recommend to friends and family and will keep this in mind for future events!
During the winter there is a free sledding hill just up the road on Hwy 65, and now Powderhorn offers lift served tubing on the weekends for $12 per hour at the ski resort. Tons of snowmobile and cross country trails. In summer, fishing is close by and fantastic. Lots of ATV, moutain bike and hiking trails.
