Gumlog House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 11-12)

**Agent/Owner**

Hartwell Hideaway is a perfect place to relax, play and getaway. Built in 2005, Hartwell Hideaway is a large, 5-bedroom lake home nestled on a 1 ½ acre wooded lot. It offers a tremendous amount of on-site activities and is located within the Appalachian Recreation area providing endless excursions.

For those interested in playing in the water we provide kayaks and fishing gear. One of our favorite activities is to float in the cove and towards the end of the day catch the sunset on the water. We recommend making that a margarita sunset – with our infamous “Jim-a-rita” house recipe. For those seeking a more relaxing onsite experience we encourage a nap in the hammocks, a long dip in the hot tub, or sun bathing and reading on the upper deck. Campfires on the beach or in the fire pit are priceless as well.

Food, music and drink are a big part of Hartwell Hideaway. We supply a fully stocked kitchen, a large grill and smoker for those wanting to get their “BBQ-on.” Happy hour is typically served at the Patio Bar with tiki torches and a game of Bimini Ring Toss. Evening activities include foosball, darts, Ms. Pacman (on the the Ms. Pacman Arcade table to include Galaga and more), board games or movies on the 56 inch HDTV. Yes, we have a huge, fluffy, reclining pit couch in the entertainment room to watch games and movies. Though don’t be afraid to just have conversation and quiet time on the upper deck with a nice fire in the chiminea. Flashlight tag is a favorite for the kids.

Offsite adventures are endless. Right out the back door you can start a day of boating, skiing, fishing, and site seeing. Within 15 minutes on the water you can be on the white beaches of Tugaloo State Park, a secluded island, or join in the fun at Party Island. Tugaloo State Park is a ten minute car drive and provides a mega boat ramp, tennis courts, nature trails, evening nature shows, mini golf, and other facilities. You can tie your boat at Hartwell Hideaway’s dock, or if you need a boat or jet ski rentals can be arranged at nearby Harbor Light Marina. Within 30 – 40 minutes you can be shopping, antiquing, golfing, hiking next to waterfalls, horseback riding or taking a tube or canoe down multiple rivers.

Hartwell Hideaway is a 2,400 sq ft, multi-level house designed for entertaining and spreading out large groups. It has one king-bed room, two queen-bed rooms, one room with two twin beds, and one room with a twin bed and a bunk bed. All king and queen beds have down-alternative comforters with duvet covers and all duvets/comforters are washed and changed after every stay.

NOTE: We do not offer use of a golf cart.

Hartwell Hideaway is about 90-minutes from Atlanta; 45-minutes from Anderson, Clemson, Athens, or Helen; and 15-mintues from Toccoa or Lavonia.

About Cassie Lassiter

We are busy professionals from Atlanta raising a beautiful young daughter and two pugs. Life is hectic, yet rich. We talked and dreamed about having a place to getaway and create memories for the family. We finally took the leap and invested in Hartwell Hideaway. Hartwell Hideaway is our respite. It provides a perfect place to relax, yet also provides endless activities and fun for us. There is never enough time there.

Cassie Lassiter purchased this house in 2011

Why Cassie Lassiter chose Georgia

We prefer Lake Hartwell for several reasons. First, it sits on the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains providing beautiful scenery, a forest type environment, yet has plenty of white sandy beaches and islands to play. Second, it’s a quiet and safe lake, especially compared to others in the area. Third, it’s close to many of the North GA adventures such as white water rafting, tubing, zip lining, golfing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, sightseeing; and close to Helen, Anderson, Clemson, Hartwell, and the Carolinas. It is a total recreation area for everyone.

What makes this house unique

The options and activities are endless. We love the mornings sitting on the deck, sipping coffee, reading, chatting or just taking in the quiet. We love playing in the water, going boating, skiing, and we love cooking dinner with friends. Food, music and friends are big deals at Hartwell Hideaway. We love watching the dogs run and sleeping in the hammocks. Fishing on the dock also has provided some wonderful memories as well, as has campfires.

Perfect house

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect. We had 4 adults, 3 teens and 4 kids as well as our lazy English Mastiff. We enjoyed the layout of the home and the fact that we could use whatever needed to make our stay great. Everything worked!

Loved the ring game at the lizard lounge and enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. The spa was hot from the sun, but we enjoyed that as well.

My only wishes are that the WiFi had a stronger signal for quick work duties, but we were on vacation so it was fine.

Something that isn't mentioned in the description of the house is the double black diamond hill to get down to the dock. Very steep, but doable.

The dock was nice, but I really wish the covered slip was made available. With the threat of rain it was a drag to have to cover and uncover our boat.

The owner responded quickly to every email and we appreciate them for opening their very nice home to us. I would come back for the house, but unfortunately not the trek up and down the hill or the dock situation.

Fantastic Lake House Close to Atlanta

  • 5 of 5

Spent a fantastic weekend with family in this spotlessly clean lake house where every need has been addressed. The game room and Happy Lizard Bar were our favorite places to hang out after a long day on the lake. The owners were wonderful to work with and I would definitely recommend this beautiful house to others. Try it, you will be glad you did!

Great Escape

  • 5 of 5

A huge thank you to Cassie, Dan, and Aspen for renting us your lake house! We would highly recommend this rental to others looking to get away from it all and relax. We had a wonderful time. The house had everything we needed and more. Days were spent on the dock, swimming in the lake, kayaking, long boarding, paddle boating, and relaxing. We took a side trip to the floor of Tallulah Gorge and it was beautiful. In the evenings we enjoyed the hot tub, various games, and just relaxing. The house, its' amenities, and the location provided (for us) the perfect getaway to relax and rejuvenate. Thank you!

Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This lovely, clean home sits on a nice quiet cove. Every detail was thought of to ensure a relaxing vacation. In fact, we were constantly impressed by the attention to the home. Our two families with 6 children (12 and under) had plenty of room to spread out with privacy. The only downside we had was that it rained our first two days, and the covered slip was taken by the owners boat, so our boat did get soaked. However, since everything else was so wonderful I hope that we will be welcome again!

PICTURES DO NOT DO THIS HOME JUSTICE.....ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I'VE BEEN MEANING TO WRITE THIS REVIEW FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW AND COULD NOT LET IT GO ANY LONGER. MY FAMILY AND I ALL MET FOR A 4 DAY GET TOGETHER AT THIS INCREDIBLE HOME. THE OWNERS ARE EXCEPTIONAL!!!! THEY PROVIDE EVERYTHING YOU COULD POSSIBLY NEED FROM SUGGESTIONS TO PACK/BRING WITH YOU TO PRECISE DIRECTIONS TO GET THERE AND DETAILED INFO ON THE HOME AND IT'S AMENITIES. THEY ARE PROMPT, CURTIOUS AND MAINTAIN THE HOME IMPECCABLY. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE RENTED WITH VRBO MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN SO STELLAR THAT IT DROVE ME TO WRITE A POSITIVE REVIEW FOR OTHERS TO SEE. THERE ARE SO MANY AMAZING AND FUN THINGS TO DO AT THIS HOME FROM THE AWESOME JACUZZI, TO THE GAME/THEATRE ROOM, THE TIKI BAR, THE FIRE PIT, THE LAKE, YOU NAME IT.... THERE IS REALLY NO REASON TO LEAVE. WE HAD A BLAST! FROM RELAXING IN THE HAMMOCK, TO ROASTING MARSHMELLOWS, TO LISTENING TO JIMMY BUFFET AND ENJOYING MARGARITAS AT THE TIKI BAR...YOU WILL BE SO IMPRESSED WITH THIS HOME! THE GROUNDS AND LAKE ARE SIMPLY BREATHTAKING....

Great House!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for my Grandma's 86th Birthday party. This is a great house. It doesn't feel like a rental at all, but a friend's house. It is furnished with really nice furniture (not typical rental house furniture) and the bedding is great. The downstairs had a huge sectional couch and a big TV. We enjoyed watching football on it! The arcade games down there were a huge hit with the kids. One of the coolest parts was the bar outside (downstairs). It's set up like a really bar and even has misters built in for hot weather. Truly one of the best rentals I've ever stayed in. Well stocked kitchen was helpful too. I forgot my crock pot but after looking through the cabinets I found one just like mine! I would recommend this house over and over again. The lake is pretty much gone so if you're looking for lake activities this isn't the place for you. Other than that, you really can't go wrong!
