Our Family Reunion, 10 people from all over, SUPER Fun, great home, GREAT elevation.

  • 5 of 5

I live here in Kailua Kona. Richard is well known, for his hospitality, reputation as a property manager extraordinaire. We were able to view this property earlier in the year, and choose it for our family reunion in late September this year. The second time when entering the property with the family, to our "home away from home" with the fam., was fantastic, to say the least. I was so happy we chose this home to rent for 9 adults, and one "teenager." This home is huge and clean. The kitchen was fantastic. Just take care that you do not over stuff the fridge, it is such a struggle to keep things cold in Hawaii. Yes, you will have to make ice runs if you are like our family, and like ice cold drinks, the Costco, or the convenience store is minutes away, seriously, super close. Great location, safe. This home is super quiet, private, and has so much to offer, besides the resort type pool, with swim up bar, half fridge, really? oh yeah!!. The outside lighting, the fruiting trees, the beautiful lawn. Pool, movies, surround sound, fans, pool table, the lani's, . Beautiful sunsets!! Torches, recessed lighting, fire pit, nice dining room, beautiful bedrooms, pull out beds, laundry, pool toys, hot tub, wow, etc,,,,, Nice value. I would love to rent this house again. I would recommend this to everyone!! At this elevation, mosquitoes are not an issue. The geckos are the usual for this area, as well as ants, they are not an issue, nor are other bugs. It is hot during the end of Sept., can get to the upper 90's. Very decent at night to sleep with the fans, and nice during the day, being hot. No air cond. at this time was not a problem for us. Highly recommended property.

Amazing Family Reunion Trip to Hale Lani

  • 5 of 5

Our families rented this house for a week long family reunion with siblings/ families. We had 10 guests from 12 years to 65 years old plus my sister and DH who lived a few minutes away visited often. The house and location was perfect. Very easy to find and close to everything with a few minutes drive via car. The house has two levels - sort of an inverted house. The drive and top entrance comes into the living room or the kitchen door. With the master and another King size bedroom on either side of this level plus a futon room perfect for one adult or child. The lower level had a 3 single bedroom, A large pull out sleeper sofa and a separate queen sized bed type apartment with another kitchen. The second refrigerator came in very handy for our food storage.

We cooked several meals at the house and grilled on the gas grill on the lani by the kitchen. The pool was bigger than I thought it would be and even the sandy area was nicer than I expected. Everyone loved the large round hot tub too! We all fit in the pool and had a ball tossing around balls and playing with the included pool toys. The Tiki hut at the pool had a small fridge. To get to the pool you go one flight of stairs down to the grassy yard. Lots of room and very quiet!.

But hands down the best feature of the house is the balconies, namely the top balcony with a wonderful view of the ocean. Nice breeze and cooler temps than the coast. With two large tables and seating for 12 plus the bar area and 4 padded chairs it was great to gather here to eat, and visit each day. Plus the stars at night and the moon were outstanding! Could not have been better! I was worried it would be too hot to sleep- but even with days in the upper 80's the nights were perfect with the ceiling fans in the bedrooms.

Everything was clean- this is the tropics so there was the odd bug or two- but sitting on the balcony at night with the lights on under the eaves we did not have issues with mosquitos etc. Loved watching the geckos ( walking upsidedown) gather around the lights above us waiting for their bug meals. So cute! Hawaiian cardinals came to the balcony looking for some bread hand outs each day. A flock of birds roosted next to the house each evening. Loved the sound of the birds each morning too. A Rooster and his girls was often sighted around the property.

This house was so economical for a large group- better than a resort! Thanks Richard for all your help! We loved this house!!

A True Hawaiian family reunion before a loved one passed

  • 5 of 5

NO. No one died here. This was a place of reunion and solitude for immediate family members for ONE LAST MEMORY..... AND So... Everything was beautiful, practical and more than accommodating - from check in to check out. Richard, my contact and I believe may be the owner, is a humanitarian with an honest business sense that in this day and age, is quite hard to find. Our stay was very sweet, and Hale Lani will FOREVER be in our hearts for the memories made. This is a place that is NOT to be ignored. This needs to be at the TOP of every vacation rental list when pondering places to stay in the magnificent island of Hawai'i, home of the active volcanoes and every other magic that the other Hawaiian Islands provide. Thank you, Richard, and those who helped us find comfort and solace in our stay. From the bottom of our hearts, Me Ke Aloha Pumehana, ame Malama Pono!!! Sweet Aloha from the nine of Us Kahumoku(s): Mervin, Jr., Emmajean Umauma, Kahealani, Keikimakamae, Ali'ilaniloa, Ekolu, Lahela, Keli'i, and Puanani Kahumoku.

Great views, excellent quiet location, and plenty of room.

  • 4 of 5

We had a my family of 7 adults and 3 tottlers under 2 who stayed at the Hale Lani property. We've been to the big island numerous times and really like the location of this property, being close to all the amenities while being in a nice quiet area and out of all the busy traffic. We had a great time and really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Everyone was really comfortable with their own rooms and the house had almost everything we needed. Other than a few things that need to be updated and maintained, the place was excellent and we'd definitely rent here again and recommend it friends and relatives. Mahalo to Richard and hope to be back soon.

Super Awesome, BIG, NICE, and beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

We had a family reunion with a family of 17 members who stayed at this beautiful property. We had an awesome time and it was more than enough room for all the kids and adults. The pool, sand pool, and hot tub were a bonus where the kids spent most of the time. The owners were awesome and allowed us to check out later for no extra charge since no one booked the day we were checking out. The listing description is accurate but its more beautiful and awesome in person. We definitely would rent this place again if we had another family reunion on the Big Island. The property was well maintained and had services that came once per week (pool cleaners). I would highly recommend this place to friends and relatives.

Stunning views, gorgeous house, fantastic memories made!

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful time at Hale Lani house. We rented the house with all of our friends and had our small wedding ceremony there. It was the perfect location, the view, gardens and pool served as a stunning backdrop for our pictures.

The house itself is well equipped with everything you have at home and more, and we really appreciated the plentiful pool towels, beach toys, and great BBQ grill. The pool was a hit with everyone, especially our 2 year old nephew. We also had a hot tub nearly every night.

Property managers Richard and Michelle we great helps - always available when needed to answer any questions we had. We were lucky enough to even be able to see the property in February when Richard so kindly showed us around as it was vacant that day. We couldn't have thought of a better place to tie the knot, and we will remember it always. We hope to be back again some day soon!
