About John and Millie Holahan

Having lived in many places from Newfoundland, Canada to California and from New York to Georgia, I found the Poconos when I met Millie. Millie's parents owned a piece of land in the Poconos with hopes of retiring here one day.

When Millie and I married, we then fulfilled our own plans of moving to the Poconos; that was 1976. Over the years, we have traveled a little, but always look forward to returning home to the Poconos.

John and Millie Holahan purchased this house in 2003

Why John and Millie Holahan chose Pocono Lake

This property is located in a small community of 9 houses, our primary home being one of them. Being a local home builder, I took the opportunity to buy this property. With a few changes like removing some interior walls, upgrading the kitchen, flooring, painting, siding, decks and so forth, we wanted to have this place available to visiting friends and family.

Because of the most convenient of locations, we renovated a couple of other properties in the neighbourhood, each having their own character.

This area is so close to everything including the major highways like Interstate 80 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

State and local parks are very accessable as are all of the activities you can imagine.

What makes this house unique

This single story home is convenient living on one level. A front porch for enjoying an evening of star gazing and a back deck for enjoying a meal prepared on the gas grille.

The large yard provides plenty of room for children to play.

Great time!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kottage. We felt right at home. The house was in a quiet neighborhood but still very close to everything we needed. We hope to come back and visit again soon!

Great Space

  • 5 of 5

It was everything that we were looking for. Anything you could need was inside the house or a quick drive up the road. House was immaculate and our golf trip was a great success.

Gorgeous Spot!

  • 5 of 5

We actually ended up staying at another one of John's properties down the street from here. The place was gorgeous! It had everything you could possibly need and was super clean. We enjoyed sitting out on the top deck the most, and will definitely stay with John again if we end up in the area.

Family Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Needed to stay in the area for grandson's baseball tournament Memorial Day weekend. We have rented a lot of houses over the years through vrbo. This cottage is one of the cleanest we have run across. Plus, the owners provide all the essentials and went out of their way to be sure we had everything we needed. As, commented in a previous review, the pictures do not do this house justice. Also, really appreciate that they are pet friendly. Our dog doesn't do well with boarding, so we always stay where they accept pets. Only minor improvement I could suggest would be to have a TV in one of the bedrooms. Thanks for a great family weekend, John & Millie!!

Owner's Response: Millie and are very pleased with your review and comments. We agree that new phots should be posted, I will take care of that this summer. A TV in the larger bedroom is not a bad idea as Millie loves to watch HGTV and I prefer watching something that will not provide a long list of, "Hey, why don't we do this to the house?" We're glad you enjoyed your stay and welcome you back on your next visit to the Poconos. Best regards, John, Millie and Donna

The house was fully stocked and EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN!!! Nicely decorated, every detail was covered. John was wonderful! We were close to everything we wanted to do for the weekend. Thank you for breakfast, it saved me a trip to the store! Already planning our next trip! I just can't say enough good things about this home!

Owner's Response: Wow; we're so pleased you and your family enjoyed the house. Millie and Donna will be particularly happy to know their attention to the details are recognized. You were fortunate that the weather was so nice; I saw you took advantage of the trail to the Thomas Darling Preserve at Two Mile Run. Millie and I often snowshoe through the Preserve but this year, the snow is on the slopes. Look forward to having you back. John, Millie and Donna
