About John and Millie Holahan

Having lived in many places from Newfoundland, Canada to California and from New York to Georgia, I found the Poconos when I met Millie. Millie's parents owned a piece of land in the Poconos with hopes of retiring here one day.

When Millie and I married, we then fulfilled our own plans of moving to the Poconos; that was 1976. Over the years, we have traveled a little, but always look forward to returning home to the Poconos.

John and Millie Holahan purchased this house in 2003

Why John and Millie Holahan chose Poconos

This property is located in a small community of 9 houses, our primary home being one of them. Being a local home builder, I took the opportunity to buy this property. With a few changes like removing some interior walls, upgrading the kitchen, flooring, painting, siding, decks and so forth, we wanted to have this place available to visiting friends and family.

Because of the most convenient of locations, we renovated a couple of other properties in the neighbourhood, each having their own character.

This area is so close to everything including the major highways like Interstate 80 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

State and local parks are very accessable as are all of the activities you can imagine.

What makes this house unique

This single story home is convenient living on one level. A front porch for enjoying an evening of star gazing and a back deck for enjoying a meal prepared on the gas grille.

The large yard provides plenty of room for children to play.

Charming cozy home away from home.

I can't not begin to explain how much we enjoyed our stay. Pictures do not do the home any justice, so much nicer in person. From the second we arrived to the moment we left, everything was perfect. We came in to a warm home, fire place lit, Christmas tree on and music playing the background. The house was very clean. The owners were delightful. We came with six adults and four kids under 2 as well as our dog. We fit perfectly and comfortably. So grateful to John and Millie for their coZy "kottage". Perfect new year.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the glowing review. I have heard from several guests how pleasantly surprised they were when they arrived; the pictures do not convey the comfort, warmth and cleanliness of the Kottage. Everyone loves the location; so close to the many places to see and things to do in the Poconos, yet located in a quiet wooded setting. A great place to relax after enjoying the day's events and activities. Come stay at the Kottage again on your next visit to the Poconos. This is a great place in the spring and summer as well. Best regards, John and Millie

We enjoyed our stay very much. I am extremely picky about cleanliness, as we travel with two young children, and I was thrilled with the condition of this home. The kitchen is fully stocked and its so convenient to have linens, towels and blankets provided (with more than enough extras in the closet, if needed). John was very helpful on showing us how to work the heating system, and Millie did a lovely job of decorating the home (complete with a beautiful Christmas tree and various seasonal decor throughout the house). We truly felt at home and are disappointed we can't stay longer. We'll definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Katie and Ed, It was a pleasure having you as guests and it looked as though the children were enjoying the new snow. The cleanliness of the home is very important to us as well; we expect the same when we travel though are often less than thrilled. I'll tell Millie of your admiration for the decorating; Millie is very careful to be sure everything is just right. Please consider staying with us on a future visit to the Poconos; you were excellent guests and are most welcome back. Happy New Year to you, Ed and the children; John and Millie

Wonderful getaway - highly recommend!

John and Millie – we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in your lovely home! The extras that you provide made us feel like we were home (washer/dryer, bug spray, spices, sheets and towels, aim & flame lighter, cutting boards, pizza stone, etc.). Very spacious rancher and very clean and comfortable but most importantly you and Millie were easily accessible if we had a question or needed something (like when we tried to fire up the gas grill but the propane tank was empty…..I called you and within 3 minutes, at the most, you appeared with a full tank). I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this property (or any of your other properties) because they are loved and well-maintained and you/Millie are wonderful. Great location (so quiet and peaceful yet convenient). You guys are wonderful! Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend with my family – we will be back!

Very clean-had everything we needed!

Great place for our family. We came down to visit Camelbeach water park and didn't want a hotel. House was 20 ish minutes away from the park and outlets and gave us the privacy we wanted. We cooked dinner every night because the kitchen was stocked with so many great things! We had a fire out back and John brought over extra firewood because we ran out. Great place! Thanks for everything.
