We are a family that loves the outdoors and discovering special aspects of the natural environment. We get great enjoyment from sharing the wonders of our unique ecosystem with visitors. This rock we found is in a perfect sunny spot and is always warm to sit on rain or shine! Our favorite picnic site and place to simply contemplate and absorb the serenity of the forest.
Michele and David purchased this cottage in 2009
We searched for years for a place where we could waterskii at any time, having gotten tired of the over crowded lakes. At first site, we knew this was the perfect place for us! There has been a huge amount of work to reclaim the old buildings, but the effort has been very rewarding.
The property was once orignally a cattle ranch and then became a fully operational Gold and Precious Metal mine. You will find many precious stones and fossils.
The neighbors in the valley are wonderful, always willing to lend a helping hand.
We have the serentiy and privacy we crave, yet we are close to the Big Lake community where there is a post office, library and store. We also can head up to Likely where they also have these but also a great little restaurant with the best fresh made Club House sandwiches you'll ever have!
If you want to get away from it all yet have the comforts of home - this is the place. The cabin is fully furnished and stocked with all you need except food and beverages. The lake is beautiful and the kayaking was superb. Made friends with the goats and the horse. Lots of wild life. The night sky was so lit up with stars - it was almost as if you could touch them. Michele and David are wonderful hosts - warm, friendly and genuine. Thanks for a wonderful time - see you next year.
What a perfect spot! The lake is gorgeous, the cabin is stocked with games and movies and is cozy and comfortable, The animals are adorable, the trails are beautiful, and Michele and David are very kind! We will definitely be returning :)
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage with an amazing view of the lake. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We could use kayaks or the canoe to discover the lake. The lake is also good for swimmers, there are no motorboats. The wildlife is awesome. The cottage is quiet and cosy with a lot to read and movies to watch. You can really calm down and relax or go hiking on the property.
The ranch house and property were great. Very comfortable and spacious accom- odations. Totally equipped and well stocked. (They thought of everything). So peaceful and quiet. Fishing was great. And definitely a perfect place to kayak. It was a great chance to see Barkerville as well. We'll bring our mountain bikes next year. Photos don't do it justice.
Our hosts were welcoming and warm. They were ready to attend to any need we may have, even going above and beyond in getting us fresh local produce delivered right to our door. The location is full of nature and so incredibly peaceful. At night the only thing to be heard was the local loons calling. The area is so full of history including this very location that there is never a lack of things to see, do or explore. The swimming was fabulous. We took the kayaks around the lake and the fishing was incredible. Our children 2 and 5 had a blast and were so burnt by days end that sleeping in was finally a reality. I havent seen stars like that in 20 years. The accomadotions were clean and spacious with a fabulous view of both the lake and the valley. Thank you David and Michele for a marvelous stay, It was worth every minute of our 16hr drive to get there.
I can not think of anywhere better to just sit back ,relax and watch the world go by.
This is our second year of renting the house and hope to go again soon. It truly is a little bit of heaven , so peaceful and just a lovely place to stay.
I am a scholar and need to get some writing done while I'm on vacation, and this place was absolutely perfect. The cabins are situated on a beautiful, quiet, serene lake, and there are NO distractions at all. I was able to wake up and write for 4 or 5 hours every day, and spend each afternoon swimming in the lake (which is the perfect temperature, and then each evening relaxing on the deck and taking in the view. So peaceful and relaxing - the most restful vacation I've had in years.
