About the property

Boulder, Colorado

There’s no better place to experience Colorado than at ‘Barrett House,’ a spectacular 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom vacation rental home in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. Nestled at an elevation of 7,000 feet on a scenic 3 acre mountain peak in the foothills, this stunning home borders Roosevelt National Forest, ensuring endless outdoor activities right outside the door. With a fireplace, theatre room, and unique decor, this lovely home promises a memorable getaway for 6 lucky guests!

In 1971, Barrett House was designed by celebrated Colorado architect Charles Haertling for noted artist Clotilde Barrett. Since then, the house has maintained its architectural significance with recent earth-friendly renovations, including cork flooring and soft rugs made with recycled plastic bottles. While the property has been updated with modern luxuries, the beautiful 3,000 square foot interior was decorated to celebrate the eclectic mid century decor that Mrs. Barrett would have chosen herself in the 1970’s. Soaring ceilings and numerous skylights let in plenty of natural light from all angles and make the Barrett House feel like a massively open tree house.

Offering 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and enough space to comfortably accommodate 6 guests, this residence is a fantastic size and layout for families or a group of friends traveling together. Everything you need to feel at home is here, including wireless internet access, in-unit laundry machines, a desktop computer, and color printer for your convenience. This home is perfect for guests who desire plenty of room to spread out and relax in privacy, as the home features a loft and office throughout 3 spacious levels.

After an exciting day exploring Boulder, look forward to unwinding in the theatre room, where a Bose powered sound system and massive 80-inch high definition screen create the ultimate movie experience. Later, prepare a delicious home-cooked meal in in the large eat-in kitchen. A Mad Men inspired bar and lavish dining room with ceramic art installation provide amazing spaces to entertain your company.

As you're winding down, take a soak in the private hot tub as you bask in the stunning scenery surrounding you. On those cold and snowy nights, cozy up by the cast iron fireplace as you soak in the stunning mountain views. The balcony extending off the living room is the ideal spot to spend warmer evenings, admiring striking sunsets and the twinkling lights of downtown Boulder - few night skies are more brilliant and vivid than those seen from the Barrett House.

When you’re finally ready to call it a night, retire to one of the plush bedrooms to rest up for the next day. The master bedroom will serve as your ultimate retreat, boasting breathtaking views of the Continental Divide, a reading loft, and a spa-like en suite with a petrified wood sink, spa jet shower, and electric heated flooring.

From this incredible house, the best that Boulder has to offer will be right at your fingertips! The naturally landscaped grounds and outstanding rock outcroppings at the Barrett House, provide prime opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, and snowshoeing.

Additionally, the 800,000 acre Roosevelt National Forest borders the property, so you’ll have no trouble finding outdoor adventures. A scenic 15 minute drive down Lee Hill Road will lead you past the enchanting Boulder Canyon to shops and restaurants within North Boulder.

The heart of Boulder isn’t much further, and offers gorgeous parks, famous attractions, hospitals, and the University of Colorado. Spend the day at the historic Pearl Street, where you can meander through eclectic boutiques and dine at award winning restaurants. Regardless of how you choose to spend your time here, this magnificent Boulder vacation rental home is truly a unique and complete mountain getaway!

Beautiful view and location but can get very HOT!!!

  • 3 of 5

Absolutely love the view and the location. Home is an old updated home. Kudos to Brian (owner's neighbor who helped check us in) who was flexible, brilliant and helpful. I would have given the home a 5 star if we were to arrive before or after mid-summer. Beware if you are arriving in the middle of summer, there is NO a/c in the home so the top floor tends to get very hot (90 degrees and up) especially late in the afternoon since there is no window for air circulation. We barely could sleep at night due to the heat even after we open up all the windows (unless you're in the basement room). Owner should consider putting in a mobile or window a/c unit for mid-summer since global warming is creeping into Colorado mountains. Would have expected to have some kind of basic comfort given how much we paid.

Perfect mountain retreat close to the heart of Boulder.

  • 5 of 5

This fully restored architectural gem is a visual treat inside and out especially for mid century buffs. Our group had three couples for a long weekend. Nice mix of private sleeping and bath quarters and space for mingling. Kitchen is newly renovated and well stocked. Great views of the valley, mountains and sunset. Can't say enough nice things about this property.

Wonderful Private Location with Great Views

  • 4 of 5

This house is a neat 70's style house on a small peak overlooking the valleys of Boulder below. It is about 20-25 minutes to Pearl street but totally worth the drive for the views, the hot tub, and the privacy.

Beautiful property

  • 2 of 5

Overall, the experience was good. The property is beautiful and the house itself is very well maintained. However, I was a little frustrated that we weren't able to use the hottub. The property manager stated that a hinge for the cover was broken. I'm not a hottub expert but it appeared to be working well otherwise. There was enough time for the owner to place "Do not use hottub" signs up all over the place but I received no notification in advance to let me know that this was the case. Considering that the hottub was about 90% of the reason I chose this property, that is why I am leaving 2 stars.

Owner's Response: We appreciate your feedback and apologize for the frustration caused regarding the hot tub. We are working with the property owners to repair the hot tub and ensure future guests are informed prior to check in if it is out of order. We apologize again for the inconvenience caused and hope to assist you in your future travels. Best, The Evolve Team
