What a find!

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful, reasonably priced 2 bedroom loft in Bar Harbor. My wife and I stayed there alone but there was ample room for a couple of children or another couple if you were flexible sharing one bath. It did have both a shower and antique bathtub. The common areas, kitchen dinning room and were specious. The furnishing catered to those of us who love antiques which we do. The kitchen furnishings seemed fine but I must admit that we went for the area food establishments and did no cook. That being said, and as great as it was, the overriding bonus was location. We rented a car but that was not necessary. We had a SHORT walk to anything we wanted to do in Bar Harbor. Add to that the Island Explorer FREE bus system that would take you to anywhere on Mt Desert Island and Acadia National Park. Bonus, you can catch the Island Explorer with a 5 to 10 minute walk from you digs. We explored all the harbors and Acadia using the bus. If you want to explore further there are ferries to nearby islands. As you might have guessed, we loved our trip and where we stayed.

Thank you Maggie for all the helpful tip you gave us. She is local, accessible, and there to help your trip live up to your exceptions!

Great stay

We had a great stay. Great location downtown but, a little noisy in the AM. Very clean. Everything in walking distance. I would definitely stay again.

Great location, only a few blocks from center of town. Very nice 2 bedroom with a Futon. Eat in kitchen, dining room table , seperate living, big bathroom. area. Apartment was spacious, clean. Central AC, WiFi and basically everything you need. Would very much recommend. Far better than renting a hotel/motel room.

Very highly recommended

My family stayed in this apartment last month and loved it. Scrupulously clean, spacious, quiet - but a five minute walk to town, the buses, and the sand bar to Bar Island.

The apartment sits atop a bank of several garages, so you are the only occupants of the building. The outside entrance is by keypad, with two more locking doors before you get to the apartment. The laundry room is downstairs, and there is room for bikes and kayaks. The owner provides some lawn chairs.

The stairs up to the apartment are fine, but there are no railings. Instead, there are ropes on either side of the staircase. This was doable, but difficult for us, as two of us are older and have bad knees. If you have balance problems, this is not the place for you.

The stairs open onto a small landing with the dining room, bathroom and kitchen to your left, and the living room and two bedrooms to your right. All rooms are spacious except for the bedrooms, which are quite small.

The decor is a mixture of 50's and painted flea market furniture - it looks very nice. We cooked a lot, and the kitchen was more than adequate. The dining room is huge, and boasts a piano. The bathroom is also big, with both a shower and a freestanding tub. There were plenty of towels and bedding.

The living room has a flat-screen TV, but there were not a lot of channels to choose from. We brought a computer and a Chromecast, so we were able to watch shows on Netflix, Amazon and Hulu when we wanted. The apartment provides internet service.

The two bedrooms are side by side and open off the living room. It was fine for us, but anyone looking for a bit of romance while on vacation with kids is not likely to get it.

Location is a huge plus. It's just a couple of blocks to the center of town with its shops, restaurants, and the Acadia bus. Hannaford's grocery store is even closer.

We loved this place, and hope to visit again.

Quiet location with parking in the heart of Bar Harbor.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week at this two bedroom apartment that had plenty of space to spread out one's belongings. The bedrooms were small but there is a large closest to hang clothing and place suitcases. The kitchen is well equipped with utensils, pots and pans. There is no dishwasher as stated in the description. There are plenty of places to eat whether at the kitchen table or in the dining room. The bathroom has a separate tub and walkin shower. The water stays hot for a long time which is always important. There is a large cabinet in the bathroom that one's toiletries can be placed on. You can control the heat, use the washer and dryer and store your bikes inside the building. There is parking in front of the apartment which is a bonus in Bar Harbor. The location of the apartment is ideal to both Bar Harbor and Acadia. Close to the grocery store and all restaurants. Only drawbacks was outdated furniture and for some, they might not like climbing a flight of stairs to the apartment. My husband and I were happy we chose this VRBO over a hotel room or one of those small cottages.
