This is a charming 1000 sq ft cottage with bay views and bay breezes. You are a 600 foot walk to the bay beach and a few blocks to the restaurants, shops, harbor, fishing pier, spa, gym, theater and marina. This is the quiet end of town and the yard is fenced in so pets are considered. Watch the sunset over the bay while sitting on your own back deck. 3 bedrooms- 1 downstairs with queen bed, 2 upstairs bedrooms, One with two twin beds and the other with one twin bed. 1 bathroom downstairs with tub/shower combo.(installed 2013). Comfortable, airy living room, small well-equipped kitchen, dining room, Utility room with washer/dryer.

The steps to the second floor are on the steep side. Elderly or very small children should be monitored.

Propane grill and 2 person kayak in yard. Wifi Internet/DishTV/DVD/CD. Romantic, cozy and clean. Plenty of parking for your boats. Charter a fishing boat or walk to the pier and fish for free. Pelican Watch Cottage has breathing room on each side. The neighborhood is one of the quietest areas in the town. Sunsets are spectacular from the back deck or from down on the beach. The house is on the north end of the beach, and we love watching the seagulls and pelicans and other shore birds perching on the pilings from the old ferry dock.

Cape Charles is well poised for day trips to Chincoteague, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg.

The management company never responded to problems identified and cleaning service didn't do well

I love the town snd area. The owners could do a better job of making the home more accommodating by fixing the blinds and ensuring all A.C. units are working correctly.

Owner's Response: The day of check in, we were notified the A/C on the second floor was not cooling. We went to the property immediately and checked the filters and settings and reset both units. They both seemed to be operating properly. The out door temperature was in the upper nineties and the room temperature was 74 which is an acceptable temperature difference. We have had no other complaints before or after. The blind was replaced as soon as we were able to obtain one.

Allowing our dogs made the stay the best.

  • 4 of 5

The second floor stairs are dangerous and after a fall we blocked the second floor for the rest of the week. The views are incredible from the cottage. The dining room is very comfortable. The living room is cozy but not too tight. The TV could use a few more channels. The soaking tub was lovely. The washer/dryer were great. The laundry room & kitchen suffered heat overload with no cover on windows but we used paper towel and tape, moved the fans and the house remained comfortable after that. The proximity of the beach was awesome. The people in town were great, very friendly, and the boutique businesses were great fun to explore. The table with large umbrella on the back deck, the fenced yard, made evenings great. This is a lovely little treasure but the ladder like stairs to the second floor should be addressed for safety's sake.

Comfy Cottage in Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our dog recently stayed at Pelican Watch and it was a wonderful experience. The bed had a very comfortable mattress and the house was spotlessly clean. It is a block from the beach. We loved walking through the residential neighborhood and on the beach. The yard is fenced and the deck has comfortable seating, a nice table and a big umbrella. Having AM coffee on the deck was so peaceful! We also enjoyed fabulous sunsets from the deck and from the living room. I loved the artwork in the house, and the collection of books was impressive. Last but not least, my husband accidentally left his ring at the cottage. Chuck Little (the realtor at Cape Charles Vacation Rentals) asked the cleaners to look for it. They kindly did so & found it. The ring is on its way back to us. We appreciated everyone's help! Chuck was great to work with throughout the whole rental process. Cape Charles is a welcoming and friendly place to visit. We browsed through the shops, had excellent meals at Kelly's Gingernut Pub and the Shanty, and were frequent flyers at Brown Dog Ice Cream (to die for!). If you want a very comfortable, pet-friendly cottage in a great location near the beach in the wonderful little town of Cape Charles, try Pelican Watch. You won't be disappointed!

Charming Beach Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We have had the pleasure of renting Pelican Watch for the entire off season, arriving in Oct. and will be leaving at the end of May. It has been absolutely perfect for us. The location is so convenient to both town and the beach. The house really is the perfect beach cottage, with games, toys, books, a fully equipped kitchen, stocked linen closet and adorable beach decor. Something no one has mentioned yet is the full size washer and dryer in the laundry room/mud room, with it's own door to the back yard, with water hose for washing off the sand. Our favorite part of the house is the back deck, with a nice view of the Chesapeake Bay and wonderful sunsets. We really enjoy sitting out there and waving to the neighbors going by on foot, bikes, golf carts, etc.

Cape Charles is a delightful small town, with southern charm and friendly people, as well as several upscale restaurants, casual pub type eateries, nice shopping, theater, spa and more. We have found plenty to do, even in the off season. Once the season begins, the calendar is brimming with activities!

I highly recommend Pelican Watch and hope to visit again!

We LOVED the house!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 2 children and I stayed here last summer and loved it! The house was very clean. It was just a short walk to the beach. We used the kayak daily, and the shed was fully stocked with a beach umbrella and beach chairs. We really enjoyed the back deck to relax, eat dinner and have a drink while the kids played in the yard. We couldn't have asked for a better place for our family of 4!

Wonderful getaway.

  • 5 of 5

Very cozy and clean cottage by the bay. Perfect location to walk to town and to the beach. Nice fenced in yard which our pugs enjoyed. Barbara was very accommodating with check in and out times. Friendly town , everyone waved to you in passing. Quaint town that feels like you stepped back in time. We will return again.
