About Kris Linton
We have been involved in historic preservation in New Mexico for over 35 years. This property had sat vacant for several years and the adobes were crumbling. The family was no longer interested in keeping the houses due to the large number of repairs. We had restored old houses before but not quite to this magnitude. We worked with a number of artisans specializing in adobes and plaster. The results have been very well received by local residents and guests alike. We made the choice to preserve the house in a manner that would allow others to experience living in an old yet modernized 19th century adobe.
Kris Linton purchased this House in 2014
Why Kris Linton chose Plaza Vieja
The houses that are located on more than a half acre outside of Old Town were virtually caught in time. We felt we would like to save the houses rather than see them demolished and new structures built in an historic neighborhood.
What makes this House unique
The house has walls that are almost a foot thick. Some of the floorboards were from the Santa Fe railroad. It is decorated with antiques and vintage artwork and has a few items that were left on the property.

Location Location Location
We absolutely loved this little house! The location was just perfect - across the street from a large, beautiful park that our dogs loved and just the other side of the park is Old Town. We could easily walk to all the shops and restaurants in Old Town - there is even a museum nearby. We just left our car parked under the shade trees behind the house and were able to walk most everywhere we wanted to go. The house is well appointed yet quaint, historical, and pet friendly which is exactly what we were looking for. The area is quiet and safe. The homemade empanadas were delicious and such a nice treat! We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for providing such a lovely place to enjoy Old Town!
Clean and well tended
Great roomy cottage
This is a great place to stay, especially if you have a pet. It has 4 large rooms and a fireplace, and it really does feel like home. Walking distance to old town too.
Great girls trip! Perfect location!
We stayed for the end of the balloon fiesta. Our stay here was so wonderful. The house is so cute and inviting. Kris was so easy to work with and she had fresh empanadas for our arrival...yummy! Kitchen had everything we needed, great water pressure. I loved how the house was decorated. Walking distance to Old Town. Hope to make it back to Albuquerque and I woundn't consider staying anywhere else! Thanks again!

The entire property is beautiful!
We enjoyed our stay! Casa de Abuelita is a wonderfully restored adobe. You can see and feel all the love Kris and Terry put into the property. They had delicious empanadas and snacks waiting for us in the kitchen which was a very nice surprise. The adobe is walking distance from museums, old town plaza, and restaurants. There is a large park right across the street our kids loved spending time at. I highly recommend staying at Casa de Abuelita! Kris and Terry are great hosts!
