About Chelcey Dunham
We live in Bar Harbor year round with our 3 children, dog, and 2 cats. Tony is the owner of a computer software company; Chelcey is the property manager for Queen Anne's Cottages, a private florist, and a Feng Shui Consultant. We feel lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth, and are happy to share it with others!
Chelcey Dunham purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Chelcey Dunham chose Bar Harbor
This property is all of the above: woodsy/quiet/private, close to town (10 minute drive), super close to Acadia National Park (5 minute drive), and has amazing views of Eastern Bay! Past guests have loved the short distance to quiet, comfy solitude after a day in town or on the trails. As part of our eco-friendly efforts, we rely on natural, chemical free cleaning products, including irritant-free, plastic free, and organic "soap berries" (look it up! you'll love them!) for our laundry detergent. Our plastic-free garbage bags are compostable, and our recycling program is well established and easy to use. We also donate all proceeds from bottle and can redemption to our local SPCA.
What makes this Cottage unique
We can spot on any given day: Bald Eagles, Deer, Porpoise, Hummingbirds, Seals, and a variety of other birds and wildlife. Kids and adults alike LOVE the huge, solar heated, saltwater pool. We are pet friendly and pet safe (at the end of a dirt road!), and our pets are more than happy to befriend you (if you like) when you find yourself missing your pets at home.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Loved our stay
Absolutely loved our stay at the cottage! It had everything we could have needed! The pool, fire pit, and access to the water were just an added bonus! It was close to Acadia Park, Bar Harbor and lots of restaurants and activities! We will definitely be back!
Great location for everything MDI!
Our family was able to enjoy and visit everything on Mount Desert Island. A short drive to any number of spots in Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor with the beauty and peace of nature all around you!
Our Stay at the cottage
The cottage was quaint and cozy. Very clean! Great Location, it was close to everything we wanted to do. We made wonderful family memories at the cottage. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Would recommend exhaust in bathroom, electric griddle and a 9x13 casserole dish.
Awesome week in Bar Harbor. Cottage was a great part of it.
Very nice, cozy cabin on the water, perfect for my husband and I and our dog.
The cabin was very clean and had thoughtful, functional and comfortable design features. The location was great - very private and on the water, but just a few minutes drive from the center of town and Acadia National Park. Chelcey was a welcoming and responsive host. We will definitely be back!
A Perfect Getaway!
The location, coziness, cleanliness, peacefulness, and beauty of the cottage and the surroundings were absolutely perfect!! Chelcey was very accommodating, super nice, and professional even though we did not need to contact her for any issues or questions during our week visiting.....which means everything was nicely laid out and organized for us. We will definitely be back and highly recommend staying at Rugosa cotttage.
The main entrance to Acadia National Park is located about 5 minutes down the road from Rugosa Cottage. Just 5 minutes beyond that is downtown Bar Harbor, with loads of great shops and restaurants! The exact address of Rugosa Cottage is 63 Shore Acres Road, in Bar Harbor.
