The Neighborhood

Overview

The Village is a vibrant hub of culture and LGBTQ history. The Village's main artery, Ste-Catherine Street, becomes pedestrian-only during the summer months between St-Hubert Street and De Lorimer Avenue, where dozens of restaurant and bar patios spill out under the pink plastic bubble strings that canopy the stretch. Take a walk North on Amherst to check out the sophisticated French pastry shop De Farine Et D'Eau Fraiche, or enjoy island vibes and rum cocktails at hip Haitian restaurant Agrikol. Don't miss out on karaoke any day of the week at Village mainstay Club Date Piano Bar, a show at famed drag bar Cabaret Mado, or basking in Les Jardins Gamelin park space where there's always something going on to stimulate the senses.

Montreal is a diversity-friendly city and a center of queer life in Canada. The Village, centered around Beaudry metro, is a lively neighborhood with tasty food, street fairs and wild karaoke joints.

Getting Around

Beaudry metro station is right across the street. You can catch the orange line and be downtown in 10 min. If you’re driving: street parking in this area is mostly metered, but there is a garage and a lot within a 10-min walk where you can park for around $20/night.

Home Truths

This Sonder comes with an HDMI cord so that you can connect your laptop to the TV and log in to your personal streaming accounts, but it does not have cable.

Due to the nearby bar and metro station, you may experience some city noise. You'll find a sound machine in each bedroom which will eliminate the noise at night.

FANTASTIC apt

  • 5 of 5

The apt was just as pictured. Perfect location in the village. Easy walk to a lot of attractions or the metro. I would highly recommend this apt for your travels to Montreal.

Nice apartment in a convenient location

  • 4 of 5

Very modern and clean apartment with all the comfort. Renovated recently.

Bed very comfortable. Good WiFi.

It is located in a convenient area, just in front of a metro station.

The apartment was quiet but the multiple ACs outside does not allow to enjoy the terrace or to open the windows.

This apartment is managed by a renting company.

I can suppose there is usually no problem with the check-in...But in my case, I had to request the information few days before my arrival as I did not receive the expected email two weeks before arrival. When I arrive, the apartment number and the entry code were incorrect. It took me more than 30 minutes to get someone on the help line which was a paying line. It costed me 45 euros from my european mobile phone...

I recommend the apartment but check the check-in information with the company.

Amazing experience

  • 5 of 5

Booking with Flatbook via VRBO was an easy experience. The Apt is great and right in heart of the Village with extremely easy access to everything within walking distance, and if not, BiXi is two blocks away.

The unit: they own the building and all the units are thus theirs. They have the best of both worlds, private condo and hotel. Even though the kitchen is small, it fits the unit and has everything we needed to cook breakfast and pack lunch for the day. They provide dish detergent, coffee (Keurig), and even complimentary laundry, and shower supplies. If anything you feel is missing, they will bring it in for you!

The staff is truly impressive! They have great communication and were able to meet us to let us in. An email was sent the following morning to ensure everything was going well and if we needed anything. We could not have had a better experience.

For the first, and hopefully last time ever, I left a plastic bag of toiletries hanging behind the bathroom door, they found it and went so far as to meet my sister at the bus stop to give it to her to bring back to me as I had left the city.

Overall, the employees you deal with go above and beyond any experience I have had before. I would absolutely stay with them again.

Perfect Location, Clean and Comfortable!!!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment had everything I needed for my short stay with a comfortable bed, fully-stocked kitchen, outdoor space, W/D across the hall, table for office work and check-in with a keypad (so much easier than a hotel). 2 coffee shops are across the street and plenty of dining options on the block . I would definitely stay here again in the future!

Map

Every summer, Ste Catherine’s Street East from St Hubert to Papineau closes off to cars, turning into a pedestrian walkway. This 1.1 km-long street in The Village, one of Montreal’s most lively and festive neighbourhood, attracts tourists, locals, street performers, street artists, outdoor activities, food trucks, and more. A home-base in Montreal for a few days or weeks could not be better located!
