The Mermaid's song has long been a mystical sound beckoning humans to the sea. Equally irresistible is “La Sirena” (The Mermaid) in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. Newly restored with careful attention to detail, this 1920's classic California bungalow will surely draw guests to this beautiful coastal town. Framed magazine covers from the 1920's highlighting watery images of mermaids help carry the theme, along with other art and sculptural pieces. The love of the sea and desire for a tranquil environment are the focal point of the décor.
Do not be fooled by its compact size! There is a smart place for the many amenities provided, and the ideal urban location speaks for itself. Sit on the covered front porch or dining patio to enjoy the downtown neighborhood scene. Ready for a walk after a delicious meal? Pop out the white picket gate and explore all there is to see on foot. Shopping and plenty of nightlife are nearby, and easily within walking distance.
Relax in the Living Room with flat screen TV, or simply curl up in the corner of the sectional sofa to read or nap. A library of books has been provided if guests wish to escape into a good literary adventure.
For a great night's sleep, both Bedrooms are outfitted with Sleep Number beds, black-out blinds, and ceiling fans. The Master Bedroom has a queen-size bed, MP3 speaker, and features a door to the enclosed deck with barbecue and bistro table. This is a cozy place to enjoy a morning cup of green tea or quiet conversation. The washer and dryer are a practical addition, and are housed in an outside closet on the deck. Beach chairs, beach umbrellas and other recreational items can be found in the box next to the Laundry closet,
The second Bedroom features a queen-size bed and corner windows, making this room bright and sunny. A Jack and Jill style Bathroom is nestled between the two Bedrooms. Splashes of color dot each room with whimsical flair.
The owners of La Sirena love to cook, and have outfitted the Kitchen with essentials to prepare wonderful meals at home. A breakfast bar that seats two is provided for informal dining.
With its convenient location, shopping for unique and delicious ingredients is made simple with a plethora of local purveyors nearby. The new Santa Barbara Public Market is creating quite a buzz, where locals and visitors alike gather to enjoy hand crafted, regionally sourced and sustainably delicious food and wine. There is even a full service gourmet grocery here, or venture out to weekly local Farmer's Markets in varying locations around town.
There is no better location to be close to local festivities. Annual events like “The Santa Barbara International Film Festival”, “Summer Solstice” and “Old Spanish Days Fiesta” draw visitors to Santa Barbara each year. Concerts at the Santa Barbara County Bowl are a great way to spend a warm summer night and just a 10 minute stroll. La Sirena is the ideal home base from which to enjoy the festivities and feel like a local!

7-Night minimum for all bookings made before May 1st.
3-Night minimum for current year bookings made after May 1st.
Thanksgiving Week (Any dates which include Thanksgiving Day)
7-Night minimum for all bookings made before Oct 1st.
3-Night minimum for current year bookings made after Oct 1st.
Christmas Weeks (Dec 19 - 26 & Dec 26 - Jan 2)
7-Night minimum (in the fixed weeks above) for all bookings made before Nov 1st.
3-Night minimum (and flexible dates) for current year bookings made after Nov 1st.
Stays of less than 30 nights are subject to a 12% Lodging Tax + $2/night Tourism Tax.
$225 Cleaning Fee (14+ night stays require additional cleaning fees), Booking Fee (varies based on reservation cost).
$1,000 security deposit refundable within 14 days of checkout. Deposit is reduced to $250 with purchase of Damage Waiver.
30+ night stays require extra security deposit, and do not qualify for the damage waiver program.

Super cute, clean, cozy house. Small at 620 sq. feet, but very well stocked with everything you could need including beach gear. Safe neighborhood where you can walk to shops and restaurants. Our 10-year-old daughter loved Alameda Park which is just blocks away. We will be back, for sure!
This property was both absolutely beautiful and had the perfect location. I stayed here because my friend was getting married at the Riviera Mansion (which happened to be down the street) which was so convenient. The house was impeccably clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with plenty of glassware for wine drinkers. I would definitely recommend this to a small family (parents, two kids) or a small and quiet group of close friends. It's still small-ish but it's a lot bigger than it looks in pictures. They provide a parking pass for one car and street parking isn't as frustrating as it looks either! I didn't move my car once the entire time we were there. State Street was in walking distance, as was a bunch of great restaurants. I would definitely stay here again :)

Great location and very clean and cute house. Pictures are accurate. Walkable to state street and in a cute neighborhood. Really enjoyed walking around with my newborn.
Some people may be bothered by slightly busy street (there is a bus stop in front of house) but we weren't.
Very comfortable beds (adjustable sleep number mattresses) small but comfy living room.
Nice size kitchen with stove, water kettle, dishwasher, coffee maker, and fridge.
It was cold and rainy when we were there so we didn't get to enjoy the front patio.
There's not a table inside so we just ate on the couch, which wasn't a problem.
If I could change anything, it would be to have wall clocks (that don't tick) up in every room. I was constantly having to check my phone. There are alarm clocks by bedside table.
This house was perfect for our week in Santa Barbara accommodating our family of 2 adults and 2 teens. It had everything we needed, was comfortable, clean and in a friendly neighborhood. We walked almost everywhere including State Street and the Wharf. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Nice, small house. Great for a couple. Clean, well equipped, good location, easy walk to upper State Street. Across from a church so had the bells chime in the morning which was nice. Only downside was it had a queen bed instead of a king but otherwise, loved it!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Sirena, a well-appointed, quaint home that fit our young family very well. We will definitely recommend this home to others. The pictures on the listing are very representative of the actual home, amenities and location. Four adults might find the home small for an entire week. But two adults with children will find this 2 Bed, 1 Bath home to be exactly what they need.
