Summerland Stagecoach Cottage - A Historic Treasure in Summerland
Back in the day, and before the railroad came through this sleepy little town, it was the horse drawn stagecoach that brought visitors to this sweet beachside community on the central coast. Originally built in 1889, Summerland Stagecoach Cottage is nestled in downtown Summerland and to this day is one of the oldest homes in the area.
Bright and full of charm, there is no better location to begin a great beachside getaway. Not only is it possible to park and walk everywhere but Lookout Park and Summerland Beach are just one short block from the doorstep!
Updated for today's standards, the home still maintains the charm of its historic roots with the graceful porch welcoming visitors. Relax in the Adirondack chairs and enjoy a morning cup of coffee or tea – a great way to start your day and plan the day's activities.
Step into the cozy Living Room – a perfect spot to gather around the flat screen TV, or, curl up near the bay window with a good book. With a library of books, everything from history to current literary choices has been provided.
The cottage features a brand new Kitchen that is not only efficient, but also spacious and a joy in which to cook. Just off the Kitchen is a Laundry Room with a washer and dryer, and guests can also find beach chairs, beach umbrella and boogie boards – everything needed for a fun day at the beach.
The Dining Room table seats 6 and is a great spot to enjoy home-cooked meals. Sunny for breakfast and lovely in the evening, as well, this area is warm and welcoming. Local art adorns the walls and various art and found pieces reflect the “stagecoach” theme throughout the home.
The Master Bedroom has a king-size bed and features a flat screen TV. The second Bedroom features a queen-size bed and large window, making this room bright and sunny. A bathroom with a claw foot tub shower combination is just off the second Bedroom.
The enclosed back yard features a terraced yard with a lawn and rose garden. Relax in the double chaise, or, gather around the patio table while barbecuing your favorite meal. Just off of the back yard is an outdoor shower – a convenient feature rinse off sandy kids after a day at the beach!
Downtown Summerland offers so many options to explore on foot with great casual restaurants, boutiques and antique shops. Meander down Lillie Avenue to a locals' favorite, The Nugget, and enjoy their signature “Crunch Burger” and a cold beverage while sitting amongst memorabilia of the area and locals who frequent this beloved establishment! Stroll and enjoy this quaint town, often bustling with activity. Choose the perfect custom bikini, pick up a gift, or take home a treasured keepsake from any number of clever boutiques. Remember, too, that Montecito is just up the road and the excitement and beaches of Santa Barbara are only a ten-minute drive, too!

Christmas Weeks (Dec 19 - 26 & Dec 26 - Jan 2)
7-Night minimum (in the fixed weeks above) for all bookings made before Nov 1st.
3-Night minimum (and flexible dates) for current year bookings made after Nov 1st.
Stays of less than 30 nights are subject to a 10% Lodging Tax + $2/night Tourism Tax.
$225 Cleaning Fee (14+ night stays require additional cleaning fees), Booking Fee (varies based on reservation cost).
$1,000 security deposit refundable within 14 days of checkout. Deposit is reduced to $250 with purchase of Damage Waiver.
30+ night stays require extra security deposit, and do not qualify for the damage waiver program.

Great stay and family time! Enjoyed the house, the beach, and the small town so much! It was just what I had imagined.
Charming home in a great location. Close to all the fun spots in Santa Barbara. Two fabulous restaurants within walking distance and the beach is about a block away. Great stay wI'll do it again soon.
Stage Coach Cottage is comfortable and convenient. The bedrooms and kitchen are terrific. The shower is challenging.
Paradise Retreats, the rental agency, is uptight, controlling and unhelpful. Steer away from them if other options are available.
My family had a nice stay at this cottage. The house was well appointed with towels, dishes and beach supplies, and my kids appreciated the toys as well. We had 3 adults and 2 children, and we found the cottage very roomy and the backyard was lovely. The only downside is its proximity to the highway and the Amtrak line. Light sleepers will need earplugs. Summerland beach and Lookout Park were literally a 5 minute walk (with toddlers!) away. We drove to Montecito or Santa Barbara every day, and both were 10 minutes away.
We rented this home for our family vacation (six adults) with plenty of room for all of us and just what we expected from the pictures that drew us to the Stagecoach House. The kitchen was well furnished with a nicely landscaped backyard to enjoy early morning coffee. The home was located within a very easy walk to the beach, easy drive to Santa Barbara and highway 101. Summerland was the small beach town we were looking for.
We had an extended family get away to Santa Barbara, and this cottage in Summerland was just perfect for us. It was a great location, walking distance to a couple of great restaurants, and easy walking distance to the beach. The house is very comfortable with great bedrooms, comfortable beds, and a nice living room, dining room, and updated kitchen.
My wife and two young sons (age 1 and 3) were really excited to get away for a long weekend to the Santa Barbara area. We decided to rent the Stagecoach house and when we got there, were even more excited as the house seems to out do even the pictures and the location was perfect in Summerland! It even included a pack n'play and highchair! Walking distance (5 mins) to the beach, downtown Summerland, and the house was fantastic with a backyard that exceeded expectations! The house has all the modern amenities you could want (Netflix is even on the TV, internet) and all the charm of the old home. Definitely coming back soon!
