Turtle Rock • On the Quiet End of Lake LBJ

2 Bedrooms + Sleeper Sofa, and 2 Baths (Sleeps 7).

Have you ever rented a vacation rental and then when you see the place, you felt a bit deceived. What the pictures "communicated" did not match up to the reality. Turtle Rock is NOT that kind of place! We hear just the opposite from our guests. Comments like "your pictures do not show the awesomeness of this place" or "we were so pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness and beauty of your place."

Come see for yourself and enjoy a peaceful, scenic experience with the option of not only water related activities but also local hiking, biking, golfing and winery tour. There is something for everyone when visiting our area. Within a 15-20 minute drive, you will find two golf courses, Inks Lake State Park for hiking, Longhorn Caverns and a local winery just to name a few of the activities you might want to check out.

Turtle Rock house sits on an extra large park-like lot, shaded by many large pecan and pine trees. The yard gently slopes down to the water. Several chaise lounge chairs, 2 single kayaks, 1 kayak for two, noodles, floats, etc. are provided for your fun and relaxation.

Relaxing getaway right on the lake… Wildlife abounds

  • 5 of 5

I hate to share this review with people other than friends and family, since I want this place all to myself! The house and grounds are pristine. (Whoever cleans the house does a fantastic job.) Your every need and want has been predicted when it comes to amenities. The house has comfortable beds and a sweet rustic charm. And the grounds are spectacular. None of our pictures could portray how beautiful the land really is. Fabulous trees, lush green grass. The wildlife is amazingly tame and friendly around there. We were greeted by four baby armadillos the first afternoon. The geese and goslings are adorable, the ducks delightful. The herons are majestic! There are deer running around everywhere in the neighborhood, since people put out deer feeders to attract them. I tried kayaking for the first time, thanks to this property. It was fun... And a lot easier than I expected! The only thing you might want to bring when you come are little Tupperware containers if you feel you are going to need them for food storage. Otherwise, just bring yourself, and spend your days there relaxing on the fabulous covered back porch, or the lovely lounge chairs on the lawn, or the perfect little dock out on the water. There is plenty to do around there, as well, if you need to be on the go. I did have some trouble with my Internet service (I have Sprint) but that was good because it helped me unplug and rejuvenate. My friend has Suddenlink and her service worked fine. This house is a little piece of heaven, and truly a lovely spot to come get away from it all and leave your repetitive, stressful life behind. Last thing… There are steps up or down around the house and in a couple of rooms, in case you have knee problems. (I won't be able to bring my stepfather here. Fortunately, my knees are fine, so I plan to come back again and again!) Love this place!

Lovely Place

  • 5 of 5

The house is perfect size for a small family, but what makes this place special is the outdoors. The patio is so relaxing and the waterfront area is straight out of a magazine. There is plenty of wildlife that roams around -- ducks, baby armadillos, deer, etc. We loved using the floaties and kayaks to navigate in the calm river. We will definitely be back!

Great place to escape for a few days

  • 5 of 5

We found the property very comfortable. The yard was well maintained with lots of shade during the day. Delightful for us to put up our hammocks. We were able to spend quality time with family with all the comforts of home. We will definitely try to make it back there again next year! Lee Cathy & Amy

Best weekend getaway

  • 4 of 5

This was a great weekend get away for us! Good vacation home for families or couples. The house was the perfect size & set up. Close by town had a good convenor store & restaurant. There was even a winery in town! Multiple outdoor activities including kayaks. Fishing off the peer was our favorite part. Also got to cook Smores by fire. We got to meet the owners and they were awesome. We will definitely go again.

Great Family Getaway for Spring Break

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time for our Spring Break getaway at Turtle Rock and the Owners were very gracious towards us. My wife is pregnant and she wasn't feeling well on the day we were supposed to arrive so we had to postpone our arrival - but the owners offered us to recoup that night on the back end of our trip since their property was still available. They were very responsive to emails & texts and overall just very pleasant to interact with before, during, and after our trip.

Kids ages 5 to 19... we fished, kayaked, played some lawn games, and just hung out near the water. It was great! The home had everything we needed and then some... we never even turned the TV on as evenings were spent enjoying the sunsets, playing games, puzzles, campfires, and more. The kids loved being able to play outside and the unique yard & peninsula of this property were great to have all the space along the water.

We were also still close enough to hit Enchanted Rock & Fredericksburg and even a sunset dinner at The Oasis one night. Lots of little added touches made it very special... from the kids getting to take home a stuffed turtle as a souvenir to the S'mores basket (we totally forgot to bring our S'mores supplies - so it was perfect!) even the large woodpile in the firepit already setup and ready for an evening fire was a great touch!

If you're trying to decide on this property... it's a solid choice! You won't be disappointed - we definitely weren't... and managing the joy of 5 kids (+ 1 more coming soon ;-) isn't always an easy job.
