We love the Adirondacks, especially Lake Placid and want to share all there is to offer with you. We hike, run, mountain bike, triathalon, eat, shop, enjoy concerts and theatre and craft. We live nextdoor to the rental unit and would be happy to make recommendations to keep your stay here all it can be.
Laura Eldred purchased this cottage in 2000
Lake Placid and the Adirondack Mountains are a special place and we chose to live here. Laura is a teacher (Grades 3-12 in a school that graduates about 15 students a year!) with a background in Hotel Management and is also a licensed Real Estate Broker. Steve does small job construction/renovations and does a beautiful job keeping our rentals immaculate.
Location, Location, Location. Just 1/2 mile to Main Street and Mirror Lake Beach it is an easy walk to most of the village. Our nightly rates are less than most major hotels in town. Why not rent an entire house instead of a hotel room?
We stayed the weekend in Lake Placid and had a wonderful time. This home is situated within walking distance of restaurants and shops on Main Street without having to deal with the heavy traffic and noise. The owners live in the home behind the rental and were very accommodating. Overall, we had a very positive experience.
We really enjoyed our stay. Convenient to great restaurants and a beautiful park. Very pet friendly! Owners were great to deal with and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely book again. We hope to be back to Lake Placid again soon.
I've vacationed in Lake Placid dozens of times through the years and never before considered renting a house - I might not stay in a hotel again! This property is great for a family and is dog friendly. The owners are wonderful and are right next door if you need anything. The house has large common areas, is clean and comfortable, and has everything you need - including a fully equipped kitchen. A short 10 minute walk gets you to Main Street and all the wonderful shops and restaurants in the Village of Lake Placid. The front yard is fenced, which the dogs loved. The only downside was the bathroom being on the second floor, but that wasn't too much of an inconvenience. The bathroom itself is clean and quite spacious, including two sinks. We will absolutely check on the availability of this house next time we plan a trip to Lake Placid! Highly recommended!
This cottage was truly charming. It was a very cozy home-away-from-home.....everything we needed was there. The house and yard were very clean and well taken care of. The furniture and bed were very comfortable and we were thrilled that the bedrooms had ceiling fans. We brought our dog who really enjoyed hanging out with us in the fenced-in front yard, and he just loved the owners, as did we. The house is within walking distance of the village - convenient to restaurants, shopping, and outdoor activities. We had a wonderful long weekend and hope to do it again and maybe spend some more time with Laura & Steve.

The cottage was clean and convenient to downtown Lake Placid. Everything we needed was provided. The fenced in front yard was wonderful for keeping our dog and visiting kids corralled and away from the very busy street. We loved the porch swing! Three things that need mentioning: it does not sleep 7. The fold out couch was unusable. So it truly only slept 5. The bathroom is upstairs as stated. It was a bit of a climb up narrow stairs with no railings...a little tricky in the middle of the night. We had a bit of a problem with communication with the owner regarding our security deposit return. It all worked out fine in the end, however.
This Lake Placid retreat is a great choice for a wonderful Adirondack vacation. The house is clean and comfortable, spacious and equipped with whatever one might need, from appliances to fresh linens and towels. There is even a piano in the living room. The front yard is peaceful, perfect for outdoor relaxing. Pets can roam the yard in safety as it is fenced in. Steve makes sure the lawn is manicured to a tee. Everything is easily accessible: Main St and the shops as well as Mirror Lake. Natural attractions are a short drive's distance away. Owners Laura and Steve are gracious hosts, ready to help make your stay memorable.
