Why Diane Swertfager chose Eastham

Diane has vacationed on the Cape in Eastham for over 40 years. We recently purchased this property for our family and yours to enjoy for years to come besides it has the best sunsets ever!!! It is like a family compound with 2 cottages and a house sharing one acre of land. Safe place for kids and a perfect beach.

What makes this cottage unique

The location of this property is the main reason we purchased it. It is only 200 yards from one of the best beaches on the cape for families. It is centrally located to many amazing restaurants, Bike trails and Whiley Park. It is Private with lots of evergreens around the property. It has the most beautiful sunsets you have ever seen. Every night people gather to take pictures of it.

We enjoyed our stay

  • 5 of 5

It's a nice place and we enjoyed our stay. The best thing about the cottage is that it's walking distance from the beach, so we could spend lots of time with our daughter there. Sunset view on the beach is something not to be missed. we went for a long walk when it was low tide.

The cottage has a watch for low and high tide. The bunk bed was an add on our daughter loved it. Radio in the kitchen needs a special mention, we loved it. while you prepare a quick meal, the background music , city updates ohh I loved it.

Backyard is big too, with hammock and net, we played games and had fun. With weather being good it was so nice to have meals outside along with the sweet sound of the birds and ocean waves.

I will recommend tis place.

Wonderful, tidy cottage close to the bay

  • 5 of 5

This cottage perfectly met our needs for a stay in the last full week of August. The location is unbeatable, as it is a five minute walk to the bay side beach. (As an aside, Thumpertown is probably not my favorite of all the bay beaches, it gets the job done. When the tide is out, there is much to explore. Definitely check the tide schedule, though, because there is virtually no beach when the tide is high.) It's a short drive to the commercial retail and restaurants that line Route 6, including the delicious Hole In One Donuts and our favorite for lobster rolls, Arnold's. Eastham has so much to offer for pretty much any outdoor interest - kayaking, biking, running, hiking. Wiley Park is close and worth checking out, as is Nickerson State Park. Of course the National Seashore is a great spot to visit. Don't miss the Salt Pond Visitor Center, which is free and has trails and lots of great information.

The cottage itself is small, but works great for a family of four. The nice thing is that the square footage is all reserved for the dining and living areas, so it makes it feel bigger than it is. The screened in porch also functions as a third bedroom, so if you have kids who don't do well with sharing, this is a good option. Best yet is the outdoor space, including a Bocce court that wowed, new patio furniture, a large gas grill, a hammock, and outdoor games. In addition, there is a washing machine and clothes line. The kitchen has plenty of pots, pans, and utensils for cooking, with a full-size stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker with filters, and toaster oven. There is salt and pepper, but be prepared to bring any other seasonings or cooking essentials, including sugar for your coffee. You can pick up most essentials at the Eastham Superette just a couple of miles away.

Overall, I highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Fabulous Location-- Perfect for kids

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for such a nice stay in your Thumpertown beach cottage. We are psyched that this last minute vacation turned out so well. Booking was easy and Diane was super helpful. The cottage was affordable and lovely. We especially enjoyed the screened in sun porch. The best part of all is that Thumpertown Beach is a fantastic gem. Our two daughters (ages 3 and 5) could play safely for hours in the warm shallow water of the bay and both could manage the short walk to the cottage easily. We are excited to consider renting several of your cottages for a family reunion next summer. This was my first time on Cape Cod and it was magical. Thank you!

Everything you need!

  • 5 of 5

We had so much fun enjoying Cape Cod at the Ocean House on Thumpertown Road. It’s antiquated feel, yet modern touch was the perfect combination for young professionals from Boston for a weekend getaway. We enjoyed all the amenities the Ocean House had to offer. The grill, patio, outside shower, newly renovated Bocce court, and backyard games made leaving the beach not so difficult, as we were able to soak up the sun right until sundown! We enjoyed walking the Bay at low tide, which felt like miles, into the sunset. Perfect picture taking location! With the Ocean House’s great location, we were able to enjoy Coast Guard Beach, Race Point Beach in Provincetown, Wellfleet Marina and the Drive-In Movie Theater. Our favorite part was purchasing steamers at Mac’s Seafood - cooking, eating, and enjoying them on the patio, highly recommend! We hope to be back later this summer!

Location, location, location!

  • 5 of 5

Choosing accomadations for a comfortable family vacation is always a challenge. Trying to please everyone is never easy! That's why we felt fortunate to find this cottage, located in the heart of old Cape Cod. The location is unbeatable. Whether you are a beach bum, cyclist or clam digger, this location has it all. Just steps from the bay we experienced beautiful sunsets nightly with wine glass in hand. We loved riding our bikes to the close by Cape Cod trail and even ventured to the Coast Guard beach lighthouse. Restaurants are close by and venturing out to play golf and sightsee was very easy.

The cottage owner was easy to deal with and responsive to any questions or requests. The cottage was comfortable, clean and well equipped. Even the property surrounding the cottage was designed for optimal enjoyment of the outdoors.

I recommend this rental for anyone seeking a true Cape Cod experience. We will be back!

A Pleasant Getaway

  • 5 of 5

It isn't very often I get to take a two-week vacation. So when I and the family get the chance, it's got to be top-notch. Fortunately we found just the spot which exceeded all our expectations. From the wi-fi to the beach; from the beautiful setting to the immaculate accommodations, our stay was above and beyond. The owners were most accommodating, friendly, and provided everything we needed. The kids had plenty to do and the area nearby provided us with lots of activities as well as breath-taking views. We'd highly recommend this rental to anyone.
