Great experience. House worked really well for our group. Construction on the casita in the rear was a distraction and should have been disclosed prior to our arrival. Trash receptacle was filled with green waste which did not leave enough room for our trash. Otherwise we had a great stay there.
Very glad to hear that the house worked so well for your group and that you had such a great experience!
Regards, Susan and Bruce
Amazing in every way
Three women and I rented this house for our annual gathering, and we hardly wanted to leave the house, which we summed up as quintessential southern CA, mid-century modern, movie stardom. What a delight! In fact, when we left the house, there were only a few outings (Cabrillo National Monument, Little Italy farmers' market, Sunset Hills for sunset, and Mitch's for yummy seafood) we enjoyed as much as the house. I have stayed in many VRBO / Airbnb houses, and this one is a favorite due to 1) a large balcony with firepit seating and view of gardens and sunrise / moonrise over the harbor and city (we could hear seals, gulls, and boats from the balcony;) 2) Pacific Ocean breezes that allowed us to throw open all the doors in morning and evening to enjoy the patios/nature that surrounds this house; 3) stunning architectural, landscaping, and interior design (no detail ignored); 4) ample living/sleeping/bath space, privacy, seating, supplies, equipment, nearby groceries; and 5) a nice neighborhood within easy driving distance to many local attractions.
The only negatives are departing / arriving flight noise (airport not far away) and the construction noise of the guest house being built on the property. Construction noise was quite limited and is close to completion; for airplane noise, bring your white noise if you are a light sleeper, which I am--but despite that, I would not stay anywhere else in San Diego! In my initial search I had looked at houses in La Jolla, southpark, Balboa Park/downtown neighborhoods; we are so glad we stayed on Point Loma (which is not congested like La Jolla) in this house, which is a close drive to everything, enjoys pleasant temps due to Pacific breezes, and well, is a movie star's life for a brief stay. :-)
Bravo Mr. Ike on your beautifully-designed and welcoming house. These four ladies will never forget our long chats fireside on your balcony watching the orange full moon rising over the mountains and city.
