About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-12)

Our home on the private Old Lazy Bar S Ranch is a unique and amazing place to stay on your vacation. Located one mile off of scenic Highway 89, there are no other houses or cabins in site. Easy access off of a paved road, and only 40 miles from either Zion or Bryce Canyon National Parks, this mountain home is the perfect home base! Our home is nestled against ponderosa pine covered hills (which you can hike on) with beautiful views of pink cliffs and a natural mountain lake.

Our 3,300 sq. foot home is spacious, clean, and beautiful. There are ground entries to both the upper and lower levels. Located on the upper level are the great room, kitchen and dining area, master bedroom with adjoining bathroom, and laundry room. The kitchen is fully equipped plus there is a second refridgerator in the laundry room. Windows in the great room and dining area offer AMAZING views of the surrounding mountains, fields and lake. Located on the lower level are two bedrooms, a bathroom, sitting area, and large family room complete with piano, cable TV, video games, exercise equipment ,and view.

Soak in the sun through the cathedral windows, or enjoy the shade while you swing on the glider of the covered deck. HIKE in the hills behind the cabin. Enjoy roasting a marshmallow or hotdog in the fire pit, and make sure you stay up late enough to see the billions of STARS in the night sky. Chances are high that you will see DEER grazing in the fields, EAGLES soaring high in the BRILLLIANT BLUE SKY, and wild DUCKS, geese, and other water fowl on the lake.

There is a king-sized bed in the master bedroom, a queen-sized bed in a second bedroom, and a full-sized bed and queen bed in the third bedroom. There are also two queen-size self-inflating air mattresses available with plenty of floor space for them in the family room. A portable crib and high chair are also available upon request. There is one full bathroom downstairs and one full bathroom upstairs.

This is a perfect base camp for seeing the national parks in Southern Utah as well as a great place for anyone just wanting to get away from it all. If you love the outdoors, PRIVACY, and the feel of peace, you will love our place!

About Tracy Camit

My husband and I started our family in Hawaii where he was born and raised. We've lived on the mainland for 24 years now. I am a homemaker, retired RN, and outdoor enthusiast. I love hiking, biking, exercising, and gardening. My husband is a consultant and enjoys tinkering on his '84 CJ7. We have four children and a black lab named Harley. I trained for my first century bike race on the roads around the ranch. I LOVE Zion National Park and continue to hike there. If you love the outdoors, you will love our place!

Tracy Camit purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Tracy Camit chose Utah

The Lazy Bar S Ranch is 0ver 100 years old. Before there was even a home here we came here for family reunions, horseback riding, and cattle branding. My parents built the cabin in 1997 and added on to it to make it big enough to live in in 2004. We purchased it from them in 2008 with plans to live there indeffinitely, but chose to move to Las Vegas in 2011 to be closer to family. Because the idea of selling our home didn't feel right, we decided to keep it and use it as a vacation rental so that we can still spend time at this amazing place.

What makes this cabin unique

You truly feel like you've left the world behind when you stay at our home on the old Lazy Bar S Ranch. Delicious homemade bread and cookies provided for all of our guests.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow! Everything was just so thoughtfully done. What you have done with this house is wonderful - you have made it a home to all who come to stay. From the scissors, tape, games, music, well stocked kitchen, shovel by campfire, the books--it's just so impressive. And CLEAN!! We have been fortunate to have traveled to many, many places and this place is #1. And the view! We notice and appreciate so many details and comforts that you have attended to. We can feel the love you have put here. And the bread and honey was delicious!

Thank you so much. We hope to come again!

One of the best vacations ever.

Outstanding property and location

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we drove up to the property we knew we had made a fantastic decision. The property is situated in a tranquil setting with views over woodlands and lakes. We loved watching the humming birds and saw the mule deer in the garden. And seeing the stars at night was quite awesome. The property is so beautiful, well appointed and clean. We felt so welcome and the personal touch of the home made bread and jam left by the owner was very well received. I just wish we could have stayed longer. Perhaps next time ..

Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

We completely enjoyed our stay. It started from the moment we arrived to a wonderful welcoming note and a loaf of homemade bread and homemade strawberry jam.

The pictures do not do it justice. This is a beautiful house. It was very clean and had everything that we needed to make this our home away from home. It was a joy to come back to after a long day of hiking in the 4 national parks that we visited. We enjoyed looking at the vast starry sky at night, and walking around the property on the days that we stayed "home". We have stayed in many wonderful homes over the past 5 years and this one ranks at the top of the list.

I highly recommend this home for.

Gorgeous location with plenty of room for everyone!

  • 5 of 5

You could not ask for a better setting or better views, and this house is set up to give you the best access to both! With plenty of room for a variety of sleeping arrangements and spacious living areas, our family (8 adults and 3 children) was able to enjoy a long weekend under the same roof. We loved being so close to so many national and state parks/forests while being able to take in the quiet serenity of the house and surrounding property when we wanted a break. The huge deck and oft-contested hummingbird feeder were special favorites, and the well-stocked kitchen and laundry facilities made the logistics of such a large gathering much easier for us. We truly enjoyed our stay here and would gladly come again!

We had a wonderful time with our family. The house was amazing and had plenty of space and everything we needed. The house is fairly isolated from neighbors, so we had plenty of privacy to spend time outdoors. We were located about half way between Zion and Bryce National Parks. We were able to visit both parks and then spend time at the cabin playing family games, sitting around the fire pit or just relaxing inside or on the deck. The house was very clean and well furnished. We loved the comfortable beds with wonderful sheets! There were many movies, games, weight lifting equipment and space to put up our volleyball net outside. There isn't air-conditioning, but we opened the windows when it cooled off in the evening and closed them when it started warming up in the morning, so were never uncomfortable. We would highly recommend this house! It was a great four days!

Wish we would have stayed longer!!!

  • 5 of 5

Even after reading so many amazing reviews, I had some hesitations about the house...mostly no AC in the summer, but were we wowed by just about everything!!! Even though Zion was over 100 degrees, the temp in Alton was about 82 and the house was never ever too warm. We would get back around 6 or 7 each day and open the windows to a nice breeze. The house had everything you needed!!! Even when the propane ran out on the grill, Tracy had a backup tank at the house! We cooked great dinners every night and used the fire pit as well. My grown kids hiked the mountain out back which was fun. The views out the front window and from the porch were exceptional. The serenity was amazing! We made day trips to Zion, Lake Powell and Bryce from the house. All amazing!!! Our boat rental on Lake Powell was amazing!!! (26' deck boat for the day). Thank you so much for sharing a little slice of heaven!!!

Wonderful Cabin with great views!

  • 5 of 5

Our week at the cabin was a great escape and very relaxing. We saw lots of wildlife including elk and mule deer. The home was fully furnished with everything you could think of. The home is conveniently located between Bryce and Zion where we spent most of our time. There is a great hiking road starting at the back of the property that leads to a beautiful panoramic view. Nice evening hike. A little piece of heaven in Utah.
