Alton Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-12)

Our home on the private Old Lazy Bar S Ranch is a unique and amazing place to stay on your vacation. Located one mile off of scenic Highway 89, there are no other houses or cabins in site. Easy access off of a paved road, and only 40 miles from either Zion or Bryce Canyon National Parks, this mountain home is the perfect home base! Our home is nestled against ponderosa pine covered hills (which you can hike on) with beautiful views of pink cliffs and a natural mountain lake.

Our 3,300 sq. foot home is spacious, clean, and beautiful. There are ground entries to both the upper and lower levels. Located on the upper level are the great room, kitchen and dining area, master bedroom with adjoining bathroom, and laundry room. The kitchen is fully equipped plus there is a second refridgerator in the laundry room. Windows in the great room and dining area offer AMAZING views of the surrounding mountains, fields and lake. Located on the lower level are two bedrooms, a bathroom, sitting area, and large family room complete with piano, cable TV, video games, exercise equipment ,and view.

Soak in the sun through the cathedral windows, or enjoy the shade while you swing on the glider of the covered deck. HIKE in the hills behind the cabin. Enjoy roasting a marshmallow or hotdog in the fire pit, and make sure you stay up late enough to see the billions of STARS in the night sky. Chances are high that you will see DEER grazing in the fields, EAGLES soaring high in the BRILLLIANT BLUE SKY, and wild DUCKS, geese, and other water fowl on the lake.

There is a king-sized bed in the master bedroom, a queen-sized bed in a second bedroom, and a full-sized bed and queen bed in the third bedroom. There are also two queen-size self-inflating air mattresses available with plenty of floor space for them in the family room. A portable crib and high chair are also available upon request. There is one full bathroom downstairs and one full bathroom upstairs.

This is a perfect base camp for seeing the national parks in Southern Utah as well as a great place for anyone just wanting to get away from it all. If you love the outdoors, PRIVACY, and the feel of peace, you will love our place!

About Tracy Camit

My husband and I started our family in Hawaii where he was born and raised. We've lived on the mainland for 24 years now. I am a homemaker, retired RN, and outdoor enthusiast. I love hiking, biking, exercising, and gardening. My husband is a consultant and enjoys tinkering on his '84 CJ7. We have four children and a black lab named Harley. I trained for my first century bike race on the roads around the ranch. I LOVE Zion National Park and continue to hike there. If you love the outdoors, you will love our place!

Tracy Camit purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Tracy Camit chose Utah

The Lazy Bar S Ranch is 0ver 100 years old. Before there was even a home here we came here for family reunions, horseback riding, and cattle branding. My parents built the cabin in 1997 and added on to it to make it big enough to live in in 2004. We purchased it from them in 2008 with plans to live there indeffinitely, but chose to move to Las Vegas in 2011 to be closer to family. Because the idea of selling our home didn't feel right, we decided to keep it and use it as a vacation rental so that we can still spend time at this amazing place.

What makes this cabin unique

You truly feel like you've left the world behind when you stay at our home on the old Lazy Bar S Ranch. Delicious homemade bread and cookies provided for all of our guests.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow! Everything was just so thoughtfully done. What you have done with this house is wonderful - you have made it a home to all who come to stay. From the scissors, tape, games, music, well stocked kitchen, shovel by campfire, the books--it's just so impressive. And CLEAN!! We have been fortunate to have traveled to many, many places and this place is #1. And the view! We notice and appreciate so many details and comforts that you have attended to. We can feel the love you have put here. And the bread and honey was delicious!

Thank you so much. We hope to come again!

One of the best vacations ever.

Best VRBO find ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this amazing property this past week with 2 other families. If you have any plans to visit Zion and/or Bryce, this is the place to call home while you do that. First of all, this is the most clean VRBO place we have ever stayed in. The owner has everything you would ever need, which is wonderful when you are traveling with kids. We had 6 kids at the house and 3 sets of parents, and there was plenty of room. There are 2 very large queen air mattresses that the kids fought over to sleep in. The layout is perfect for large gatherings. We spent one night hanging out by the fire pit and star gazing. There were elk and mule deer grazing in the surrounding fields and the kids had an amazing time hiking on the property looking for animal tracks and finding bearded lizards. We were greeted with a nice handwritten note and fresh bread and honey butter upon our arrival. We all wished we would have booked the house to stay longer and would recommend this home to anyone in the future. We hope that we will be able to come back someday!!! If you are just beginning your search for an amazing home to getaway in, look no further. I promise you will not be disappointed!!! We made some amazing memories at this property and it will hold a very special place in our hearts for many years to come.

Beautiful, spacious home. Super comfy.

  • 5 of 5

The home is in a scenic location and invites you to sit and relax. Forget TV when you can watch the deer and the ducks.

Our family had a wonderful time! Great location close to Bryce and other NPs. Wish we could have stayed longer. Would definitely recommend this wonderful home.

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have never stayed at a vacation home so awesome. The scenery was absolutely beautiful with wildlife sightings every night. The home itself was very well stocked with everything you could want and extremely clean. We will never forget this vacation thanks to the homeowner. The home actually deserves more than a 5 star rating and highly recommend it for any occasion.

Immaculate Serenity in Utah

  • 5 of 5

We are VRBO veterans, but this house was the cleanest and best kept house we have ever experienced. The description is spot on. This house is great for large families, there was 11 of us and we were not crowded. The downstairs family room is a great place for the kids, a closet full of games, a game cube for video games, a tv, a huge selection of movies, a weight bench, etc. plenty of stuff to keep the kids occupied while inside. Upstairs the front windows offer spectacular views of Utah. We never used the tv upstairs as we spent all our time in front of the windows admiring the landscape or watching the wildlife. Every night we would watch 5-12 deer feeding in the front yard, we also watched elk from the front window, and at night you can get a great view of the Utah sky through the front windows. There is a campfire circle outside behind the house which can be enjoyed by all. Plenty of hiking and enjoying the mountains abound all around the house. The house is centrally located for enjoying many of Utah's great attractions-we visited Bryce, Zion, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and Page Arizona - all located within a short drive. Plenty of restaurants and grocery options located within 30 minutes of the house. The drive to and from Vegas to get to the house was breathtaking. Upon arrival at the house we were greeted with homemade bread, honey butter and a welcome/thank you note. This house is a great bargain, located in a beautiful breathtaking setting, immaculate, exceptionally clean, and a very beautiful home. Thank you so much Tracy for sharing your home-we created many family memories that will last a lifetime.

Gorgeous views! Perfect location! Amazing place to unwind and experience Bryce Canyon and Zion!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a five day stay at Tracy's cabin, and we can't say enough about how fabulous the cabin is! Because we have four kids, we typically choose rental properties over hotels. We have stayed in some pretty amazing places, but none of them have been as immaculately clean as this one! We joked that we literally could have eaten off of the floor. As a germaphobe/neat-freak, I couldn't have been more pleased!

There was ample space for our family of six, and we especially enjoyed that the master bedroom was on the top floor, while the kids occupied the rooms on the ground floor. It made sleeping in a lot easier! The kids enjoyed the fact that they had their own spaces too.

I can't say enough about how much attention Tracy has paid to her guest's comfort. Because the cabin is remote, I was worried about what would happen if it didn't have something we needed. Tracy e-mailed us a detailed inventory of the cabin's contents, which allowed us to know exactly how to prepare. She has thought of everything, and I mean everything. There are even pictures inside the cupboards that remind you of where to return things when you've used them.

The cabin's location is ideal for visiting Zion and Bryce, and the views from the porch and front windows can't be beat! At night, the starry sky is magical (at least to city slickers like us!) Our kids loved exploring the property and spent hours outside each morning. Zion and Bryce are each a short 40ish minute drive away, and it's very easy to jet over to the parks for the day and then back to the cabin for dinner. Because the cabin is remote, we packed in our food for the week and ate our meals at the cabin. We have a lot of food allergies and were worried that we might not be able to find a grocery store that stocked the things we need. We were thrilled to find that Sol Foods in Springdale (near the entrance to Zion) stocks a very reasonable selection of organic, gluten free and vegan items! Yay for small markets carrying great foods! :)

We can't imagine a better place to stay when visiting Southern Utah! Thank you Tracy for sharing your home with us!

Everything we needed and wanted in a vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

My family has been going on vacations to various national parks for almost 30 years, so we have stayed in a lot of different accommodations from hotels to cabins to rented homes. This was the best place we have ever stayed.

The home itself was spotlessly clean and orderly. It felt home-like with nice furnishings and decorations (not bare and empty) but not cluttered or like you were trying to live around all of the owner's personal possessions (for example, we've stayed in other homes where you can't use the closets because the owners have locked them to keep their stuff safe). There was not a single thing that was broken or worn out. The furniture and beds were comfortable, the linens were wonderfully soft, and the kitchen was FULLY stocked. Tracy also provided laundry detergent, Ziploc bags, foil, plastic wrap, and various ingredients like oils, spices, and sugar, which cut down on the amount of stuff we had to pack or buy.

The home is also a beautiful place, inside and out. We loved spending time on the balcony, relaxing on the couch while taking in the view out of the living room windows, and sitting on the swing out on the patio. In fact, we spent the entire last day of our trip at the house because we felt like we had been gone so much every day that we didn't get to enjoy the house enough.

We also loved the location. There are truly no other homes in sight -just rolling hills, a lake across the road, and the pink cliffs in the distance. The property is also quite large with a trail running through it that we hiked on a couple of times. It's not very far from the towns of Glendale, Orderville, and Duck Creek, so there is easy access to stores, gas stations and restaurants. It is around an hour each way to drive to Zion, Bryce Canyon or Cedar Breaks, so if those are your destinations, be prepared to spend some time in the car each day. But it wasn't long enough that the drive felt burdensome, and we got much more in terms of space, amenities and solitude than we would have if we stayed right by any of the parks.

The Old Lazy Bar S Ranch is a gem and we felt privileged to be able to stay there. I can't imagine finding a place we would have liked more. If we ever travel to the area again, this is where we would stay.
