About Yvonne Sheehan

A native of Cork city, Yvonne spent many summers and occasional winter weekends at the Cottages, in the Old Head of Kinsale. It proved to be the perfect childhood playground, playing in the front garden, walking to the beach and most importantly enjoying the simplicity of the surroundings. Yvonne loves to travel and has spent time in France, Germany, Austria over the years and now spends a lot of time in America. Always excited to welcome others to her home town, Yvonne and her family look forward to your first visit to the Cottages.

Why Yvonne Sheehan chose County Cork

With the appearance of being a smaller cottage from the outside this home is very large and spacious. Upstairs living with kitchen, dining area and TV room overlooking both sides of the ocean with spectacular views. Gas stove fireplace allows for hours of entertaining and during warmer months, the outdoor balcony is perfect for a morning cup of tea or an evening glass of wine. Bedrooms and bathrooms are downstairs along with a front facing sunroom. Bedrooms sleep 10 comfortably, with 3 double rooms and a 4th room with bunk beds. Washer, Dryer available for use.

Fantastic home from home cottage in a breath taking location....

  • 5 of 5

From start to finish we had an amazing holiday in this beautiful cottage on the Old Head of Kinsale. We were greeted by Laura who showed us around this beautiful home. She was kind enough to welcome us with some lovely homemade biscuits which was a lovely touch. The layout of the cottage we found great with the living accommodation upstairs allowing us to take in the fabulous views of the countryside. Everything in the cottage was perfect and spotlessly clean. It was fully equipped with everything we could possibly need on a holiday. It was spacious, comfortable and charming. Some of our family joined us for a couple of days and also thought it was beautiful. I cannot recommend this cottage enough to anyone who might be considering a stay here. Delightful! many thanks to Laura and Yvonne, the cottage is a credit to you.

Highly recommended!

Lovely home

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this vacation home. It was in a lovely location and wet weather did not dampened our excitement of our first days of our Ireland vacation. Large home with plenty of space. We got there without our luggage, and the home owner (Laura) could not have been more helpful getting in touch with the airline and checking for us on its status. Homemade cookies and hot tea when we first arrived helped so much in our trying not to stress about having no luggage! There was also homemade bread! Wonderful place to stay.

Relaxing cottage with spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here and enjoyed the spacious house. Having four bedrooms allowed our family of 6 to have plenty of room to sleep at night and the kids enjoyed the nearby beach and park in Kinsale. We enjoyed taking in the scenery of the Wild Atlantic Way and spending a day in Cork City. Would definitely love to come back in the future. The owner, Laura, met us at check in to review the house and explain the area.

Lovely house in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

Loved staying at this property, the house is very homely and welcoming, lovely views of the area. There is a nice little pub over the road which does great food too. definitely need a car if you stay here though as all the shops are right down in kinsale. The owner was very friendly and helpful when we arrived. Would definitely stay again :)

Warm and Welcoming!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and three friends stayed in this cottage in the middle of May. It was drizzling, misty and cold when we arrived but Laura met us with a smile and a tour around her comfy home. She had stocked the house with milk, OJ and some baked goods - much more than we were expecting. The pictures don't do this place justice. We enjoyed the sea views and the drive around the old head. Kinsale itself was nearby and was a quick drive into the city. We ate at the Speckled Door Pub twice, enjoying its view of the sea and the three thoroughbreds running and playing right behind the pub. I would highly recommend this cottage for anyone traveling in that area. It was nice for each of us to have our own room, but it would hold many more if you had a larger group. Thanks Yvonne and Laura for a wonderful stay.

This property was well maintained, very comfortable and clean. I appreciated the helpful information that Yvonne provided prior to our visit. We really enjoyed the cottage, the location, the local pubs and the proximity to Kinsale and Old Head. Strongly recommend this property.

Minutes from the hustle and bustle of beautiful Kinsale, the Old Head is considered one of Ireland's most treasured stretches along the Wild Atlantic Way. The views are breathtaking, with options for long, medium and sort walks around the Old Head, towards the old lighthouse and new Golf Course. The Beaches (Blue Flag) are known for their wild waves, perfect for surfing and bodyboarding yet also suitable for swimming and walking. Pitch and Putt club directly across the road from the beach with surf schools open most of the year. Garretstown Woods is ideal for trail walking, full of history and evelated grounds overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The local, well known pub/ restaurant ' The Speckled Door' provides an ideal setting for an early evening dinner or a long night of old Irish drinking and singing. Grocery shops, butcher and deli, close by (2 miles).
