Our experience at the river house was perfect. Extremely comfortable and exactly what we wanted for a trip to glacier. We slept very well, and enjoyed all the home had to offer. Most of the environment of the home is a dream come true for a family from the Midwest. It has the ideal Montana river postcard view and is still close to everything. Very helpful owners and friends in area also helped us enjoy our trip.
This was a great house and well equipped Kitchen and I used the heck out of the new propane grill. Wi-fi was great and view from the back deck was best I've had in a cabin rental and I've rented 6 or more.... glacier is close and we took day trips to the national bison range (highly recommended), boat trip on flathead lake(it was ok), and a horse ride at a local outfitter (highly recommended). Whitefish is close enough to go eat/shop/party at night and there's a good gro store in Columbia falls about 10 min drive. Also, there's a little coffee shack in hungry horse that sells great coffees, Cappa-frappe-chinos' and muffins as you head out sightseeing. I would stay here again.
No disappointments here. Incredible views, extremely clean and well kept home with all the amenities needed for a very enjoyable, carefree stay. Having Dick (the owner) meet you and give you a quick walk-thru as well as offer suggestions as to restaurants and sights is an excellent personal touch. Great fishing at the property and only minutes to Glacier National Park west entrance. You would be hard pressed to find any nicer in the area!
The cabin was beautiful and located perfectly on top of the hill overlooking the river. Also conveniently located close to shops and a few miles away from glacier national park. The only reason I am rating this 4 stars instead of just 5 is because is the description it says that there is a canoe, kayaks, and pontoon boats to use but they are not on the property. The owner explained to us when we got to the cabin that he would need 24 hours notice of when we would like to use them. With the weather forever changing in this region it really limited our abilities to use those things because it was hard to pin point a little time frame 24 hours earlier. It would have been nice to have those things on property so that we could take each day as it came. Other than that, awesome! I highly recommend this cabin for your glacier vacation.
Great location w/ amazing view and access to the Flathead river. House is perfectly located just outside the park so not too far to go if heading into the park for the day or heading to one of the local towns (Whitefish, Columbia Falls, etc...) for dinner in the evening. Dick has there to greet us upon arrival and offered many great suggestions for activities and restaurants in the area. Very nice and personal touch. You won't be disappointed with this very well cared for rental home...our family of 4 certainly wasn't.
The house is in a great location by GNP West Entrance (`10=miles). It sits on a river bluff with a fantastic view and if you like the sound of running brooks and rivers this has that too. It has 3 levels with sleeping accommodations on each level for a max of 8. We only had 5 so plenty of room. It has about everything you would want in your house available for your use down to beach towels and ice coolers. With the 3 levels and the entry from the driveway there are a number of stairs. Eating out on the deck overlooking the river was wonderful. You have privacy with just one neighbor you can see through the woods. We had deer come through the property. The house has a fire pit and wood and starters were supplied. It has good WIFI, satellite TV and a pool table in the basement. If requested the owner will deliver kayaks, a canoe and one person pontoon boats for your use. He has several good locations where you can go with the boats and swim and spend the day. The owner provided a wealth of information on good hiking in GNP and other area activities. Access to the river is mostly stairs but at the last section there are no stairs and it is sort of steep. The owner has put ropes there to help. The river edge is rocky but there is a natural swimming hole the blocks all the river currents. My daughter caught a small trout and some other fish. The area seems to be catch and release so she put them back. The view from this house and the river sounds are just wonderful and yes we all said we would go back there again!
