River House near Glacier National Park

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the River House the last week of August, 2017. The 3 bedrooms with queen beds provided privacy for the 6 adults in our group. The House is beautiful and well furnished inside with everything you will need (including bear spray) and has an awesome deck that overlooks the river. The deck is a great place to relax and wind down after a day of hiking in Glacier National Park. Access to the river is not for the faint of heart as the steps are steep and the last portion is clambering over rocks, but it is well worth the effort. Totally secluded, good fishing, great for soaking up the afternoon sun while listening to the calming noise of rushing rapids. The house is very convenient, 10 minutes from the West Glacier entrance to the park, 10 minutes from Columbia Falls and an all enclusive Super 1 grocery store, and 20 minutes from Whitefish with brewpubs, cute shopping district, and lots of restaurant options. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking meals, and plenty of really good restaurants within an easy drive. We thoroughly enjoyed pizza at Glacier Grill in Coram, broasted chicken and ribs at the Back Room in Columbia Falls, and incredible pasta dishes at Ciao Mamba in Whitefish. Best to start your days early with drives in to the park as parking gets to be a problem by late morning. The River House is simply an awesome place to stay while visiting Glacier.

The Best. Book it now if available!

Our family of 4 ( 2 teenagers) loved staying at "The River House" as our base camp for exploring the Glacier National Park Area. The location is perfect and only 10 minute drive to the entrance at West Glacier, as well as 10 minutes to Super 1 Grocery store in Columbia Falls, and 30 minutes to Whitefish. Glacier is truly amazing and we went swimming in Lake McDonald, hiking at Avalanche and Logan Pass (Hidden Lake and Highline). We also took a day trip to Many Glacier to hike Grinnel Glacier (our favorite!) We utilized the bear spray supplied at the house and it worked great - never saw any! Every day we looked forward to spending time at this beautiful house where we would sit on the large deck, cook-out on the gas grill, and watch bald eagles fly by in the morning and evening. The beds were very comfortable and house kept very up to date with new furniture, flooring and ceiling. We used the pool table and appreciated the 2 1/2 baths, and WiFi. The view from the deck is spectacular and one we will never forget. We also enjoyed "hiking" on down to the river daily and even went for a refreshing swim several times. The owner, Dick, was very informative and ensured we had a great time. As an added bonus we thoroughly enjoyed our day floating down the river and rapids with Dick and Linda on their personal watercraft which was made available. What a blast!

Wake up to serene beauty, flying eagles, minutes from one of the most beautiful wonders in the world, Glacier National Park. With a very responsive owner, you have everything to ensure a memorable vacation. Rafting in the river, kayaking in the lakes, hiking, zipline, incredible views - just a few activities highlights. We did not start the tv the entire week!!!

Perfect Base Camp

  • 5 of 5

Wow!!! We thoroughly enjoyed this great Montana Mountain vacation, setting and hospitality. We had a total of 7 in our party (4-teenagers & 3 adults). We took in Glacier Park every day (10 minute drive to West Glacier entrance) and always looked forward to a relaxing evening at the River House. We spent several evenings grilling and relaxing on the deck watching the late July sunset. The view from the deck is amazing. Beds are very comfortable. Wi-Fi connection was solid and reliable. We caught several species of trout from an ideal rock bar positioned directly in front of the River House. I will strongly recommend this beautiful well maintained rental to friends and family.

Thanks Dick! We truly feel fortunate to have had the privilege to stay at the River House.

Was better then expected. The deck overlooking the river was outstanding. Watching rafters, cooked our meals, and played cards. Saw a bald eagle went by several times plus landed in tree across the river. Our family loved river house.

We loved everything about this property! The view and sound of the river soothed our souls, and the cabin itself was clean and beautiful. It had a light and airy feeling and the huge windows out the back made us feel like we were truly living in nature. We were so close to the west side of Glacier and visited the park often. You will not be disappointed if you chose this rental!
