The area is close to many surrounding areas within driving distance. My kids loved the huge yard to play in. The view is amazing you watch the wildlife, the sunrise/set or a good storm rolling in.
I would have rated 5 stars except for one thing, and it is a big one. Lets talk about the good things first: 1) Great spaces, in and outside. 2) It was clean, well-stocked with kitchen essentials like appliances, and even spices, mustard, oils, and other kitchen necessities. All we really had to buy was meats, fresh veggies, milk and bread. 3) The property was very well groomed and taken care of, and we noticed and loved the nice lawn and spacious backyard. The kids LOVED it. (8, 5 and 4 year olds) 4) Lots of neat things like a gas grill, a firepit, and GREAT front porch. The 8 year old and dad had a neat hike up the summit of the "mountain" in the backyard. (sigh) Now for the one negative. The beds in the lof, and the basement were average at best, but in fact the bed in the main bedroom was TERRIBLE! The first night I felt like I was rolling off the bed, it sloped so badly. I ended up putting three pillows in a row from the head to the foot of the bed on my side just to make it even. It was a very old "sleep number" bed, and we have a new sleep number bed at home so we know how to use it. I would say the one side (closest to the doorway) of the bed's mattress must have been completely flat. The pillows underneath the mattress really helped, and actually saved the day. (night?) Others had complained about the lack of a door on the main bedroom, eh, I guess that could of been a minor negative. Another small detractor was a malfunctioning motion detector nightlight going downstairs. It kept flashing on/off, a little distracting for dad who slept downstairs. I finally just changed the batteries, that helped for a night. Next night same thing. :( I ended up sliding it out of its carrier and put it face down on the table. Problem solved! Also, I would recommend a railing be put on the stairs going down; kind of scary late at night going down without that railing. Would I return? That's really the test isn't it? Fix that bed, and we would return in a heart beat. It was overall a great cabin, and a splendid time was had by all.
Very cozy home in a nice location. It was a nice place for our family trip with my in-laws. My father-in-law loved mornings on the porch with his coffee. Do wish the main floor bedroom had a door. Having the extra space in the basement worked well for us, as we traveled with teens who like to stay up late - I just wish there had been a TV down there, but for the few days we were there, it was good for the kids to not have that!
Peace and quiet, a nice get away from the Keystone hustle and bustle, but still plenty close to all attractions. We have four kids under 7 and they loved the cabin, especially the wide open finished basement. Plenty of room and everything you need away from home. Laundry was great to have available. Agree with the no doors was a drawback for us. We had to put away lots of knick-knacks to make it kid friendly. We have a crawling baby, we had to baby proof, but otherwise it was fine for older kids. TV and DVD player was a battle but we figured it out eventually. Nice grill and fire pit to use after sightseeing all day. Owner called a few days before to give us information that was helpful to us.
Close to many Black Hills attractions yet secluded and private. Great views of wildlife from front porch and a
general sense of quietude. As a couple well into our senior years these afore mentioned qualities were much
appreciated and enjoyed. The major deficiency we experienced was a near total lack of closet space which
was a major inconvenience for us. If closet space were to be made available we would look forward to a return
in the summer of 2016.
Misrepresented in many ways...no curtains in bathrooms, see through lace curtains in other rooms,no bedroom door on 1st floor, air mattress uncomfortable, bugs in basement where other 2 bedrooms and bathroom were,TV didn't work, grill didn't work, cell phones don't work, and landline only calls out, none come in because they were re-routed to owner,so that was a safety concern. There was supposed to be a fireplace which turned out to be a small wood stove which we were told not to use.A 2 car garage which we couldn't use either... But the.neighbors were wonderful.
