Gold Country / High Sierra Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Bunk Area, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4 comfortably but can do 6)

Hoping for a white christmas.... Come stay at our Cozy Bear Valley Village Condo. It is set up with a Comfy Sectional couch in the living room and fireplace for full relaxation and enjoyment. Great location!!

Our cozy condo (500 square feet but laid out well) is located in the Bear Valley Village - a short walk to the lodge, restaurants, library, kids playground, frisbee golf course and the Ski shuttle bus (in the winter). We are a short 10 minute drive to the ski mountain.

During the winter you can ski at the mountain (drive or bus), corss country ski or sled in the village and walk to the bus, village restaurants and or shops from our condo. During the spring and summer you can spend the day hiking, biking, kayaking or swimming at two amazing lakes- Lake Alpine or Bear Valley Lake.

This would be a great choice for a family, a couple or a single traveller! Our coz ycondo has one bedroom with a bunk - full (new futon mattress and a new 2 inch memory foam topper -just added this season) on the bottom and a single on top.

The bedroom (located up 5 stairs from the living room and kitchen) has a DVD player so the kids can hang out while you enjoy quiet time downstairs.

We added a bunk area with two single beds. Parents can take the bedroom and give the bunk area to the kids!!

The bathroom is located next to the bedroom and is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. We just installed new flooring, a new toilet and the bathroom has been freshly painted. The shower and toilet are seperated from wash basin so that more than one person can use this area at a time. A hair dryer is also available for your use.

Downstairs, watch a movie by the fire on a flat screen TV. Relax in the living room on our sectional couch with recliner. The living room and kitchen were recently painted. A great place to read a book or play a game with the family.

We have books, magazines, games and movies available for your use. The living area is equipped with a pull out double size bed and a twin bed for sleeping.

The kitchen is fully stocked with a coffe maker, microwave, new dishwasher, and pots and pans for your stay. It is also stocked with basic spices for your use.

A ski storage locker is located next to the codo equipped with sleds and snow shoes ( 2 adult pairs and 3 pairs for children) and beach chairs for your use. Only a hop, skip and a jump away from snow shoeing, sledding, cross country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter and swimming, hiking, biking, fishing and boating in the summer.

About Jenny Poster

I am a stay at home mother of three and wife. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, cooking, running, and generally anything that is related to the outdoors.

Jenny Poster purchased this condo in 2002

Why Jenny Poster chose Gold Country / High Sierra

My husband was on the volunteer ski patrol at the mountain and we wanted an affordable, convenient place to stay. We immediatley fell in love with the location, people and true beauty of Bear Valley. Now it is a great place to bring our family. Every single time we take the left hand turn off Highway 4 into the village, we instantly forget our daily grinds and stress and feel the tranquility and relief of being on 'Bear Valley time'.

What makes this condo unique

Bear Valley is fantastic. Once we arrive at our condo we park our car and generally do not get back in it until we leave. Our condo is footsteps away from snow shoeing, snowmobiling, cross county skiing and sledding. We enjoy being close to the shops and lodge where we often enjoy hot chocolate and the fire after a day of skiing. The summer is perhaps better than the winter, with lakes, hiking, biking, ball feilds, rock climbing, frisbee golf course and star gazing. Bear Valley is a very family friendly community. We love it!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for sharing your vacation home with us. It was perfect. We were very comforttable. So many thoughtful touches' like Christmas decorations, reading materials, movies. Everything we could ask for. We would love to come again. It was wonderful to be there before the crowds.

Wonderful Getaway from the Bay Area

  • 5 of 5

We were a party of four adults. We enjoyed walking just across the street each morning and heading out on the trail towards Alpine Lake among granite rocks and trees, or walking out on the cross-country ski trails. It was so quiet even though they were setting up for the music festival. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and up to the Bear Valley lake. We did a lovely drive up to Ebbert's pass enjoying the gorgeous view of mountains and walking in fields filled with wildflowers. We met a Pacific Crest Trail Angel and about ten PCT hikers. The PCT is on our bucket list. We did a short walk at Alpine Lake. We were out of the condo from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and we had a very full day before coming in to make dinner and relax. Dining and living room very comfortable and the condo was well maintained.

Bear Valley definitely takes some planning to bring groceries with you as there is limited selection at the Bear Valley and Alpine Lodge grocery stores. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals. We didn't try the Bear Valley restaurant or pizza place. We have eaten at the Alpine Lodge on a previous trip and food was good.

This condo would be extremely comfortable for two adults or two adults with children. The swimming pool, rock climbing, bungee jumping for children looked like fun and lots of flat space for kids on bikes.

The owner is very responsive to our queries.

Great for a Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

My husband, two little girls, and I enjoyed our stay in Bear Valley this summer. The condo was well-equipped and well-laid out for 4-6 people and made our meals and "downtime" very easy and enjoyable. It was located close walking distance to the lodge (pool and restaurant) and across from a great rocky hill that the entire family scampered up every day. The kids enjoyed sleeping and playing in the bunk-beds and in the area with the extra bed off the living room. My only suggestion would be to replace the bunk bed in the bedroom with a regular bed since it was a little awkward for two adults and there were lots of other sleeping options for the kids.

Clean and Well Provisioned

  • 5 of 5

This condo was perfect for two adults and it is creatively set up to accommodate kids or extended family. It was nicely furnished, clean and the kitchen had all the tools we needed to prepare our meals, which has not always been my experience with other vacation rentals. The owner was very helpful and responsive to our questions. I'd definitely recommend this comfortable little nest in the mountains!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The condo was very cute and super comfy! It was just my husband, 5 month old son and I and we really enjoyed it. A family with a couple more littles could still fit comfortably and kids would love the bunkbeds!

The condo had wifi and was equipped with great cooking utensils and a BBQ so it was nice to be able to keep and cook our own food- but there is also a great pizza place at the lodge that we enjoyed. Jenny was great about communicating before our stay, and also made sure we were all set once it was our weekend in the condo. Condo is close walk to Bear Valley Lake, close drive to Lake Alpine and some other fun places. My husband and I both said we'd stay here again next summer!

As a Renter you will have access to the BV Lodge pool and BV lake. The Valley Lodge recently renovated a bar in one of their restaurants and the seating area by the fireplace. Both have been beautifully updated and were able to keep that Bear Valley charm. A great place for a drink, or sit by the fire or to play a game with the family.
