Truckee Lodge Rental Photos and Description

Lodge, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 14))

Our luxurious and beautiful Tahoe Donner mountain home is fully furnished and decorated with a mountain motif. The house has four spacious bedrooms, (two master suites and three King beds!) and three and a half baths; it comfortably sleeps up to 14 people and works beautifully with two or three families. In addition to the three king bedrooms, there is a bunk room with four bunks (two twins and two doubles), a very nice bunk bed in the family room (with two twins), a pull out double futon and a single fold out mattress pad for smaller children who may want to sleep with their siblings or parents. We have recently made a number of upgrades; please read on!

Our 2,800 square foot, non-smoking home features a majestic Great Room upstairs with a beautiful stone fireplace, vaulted ceilings, leather sofas, and hardwood floors. The fully-equipped kitchen has granite countertops, bar seating, stainless steel appliances, and a large mahogany dining table that is expandable. The Great Room leads out to a sunny full-length deck facing virgin forest greenbelt and a picturesque mountain creek. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking for large groups and features a Cuisinart, large Crock Pot, restaurant grade waffle maker, and rice cooker (essential in high altitudes) as well as a plethora of large pots, skillets, roasting pans, cookie sheets (what's better than making cookies on a windy, cold day?!) and numerous other amenities. The dining room table seats 14 and there is also seating at the high kitchen counter for four if you want to feed the younger kids early and separately.

The upstairs master suite with a new luxurious King bed has a private marble bathroom with an oversized jetted tub, separate marble shower, and double vanities. The downstairs master bedroom features a comfy King-size bed, a marble tiled private bathroom with double vanities, and a private door out to the lower deck with the hot tub.

The third bedroom is a lovely private room, also appointed with a cozy and comfortable King bed with leather chair, ottoman and reading lamp and has the third full bathroom next door.

The fourth bedroom is a spacious and charming bunkroom with double bunk beds on the bottom and twins on the top. All of our beds are very comfortable and have fluffy down pillows and comforters as well as the option for non-down (for those who are allergic) - we have even provided optional bedboards for those who like to regulate the firmness of their sleeping accomodations!

We have plenty of overflow capacity for your additional weekend guests! We have recently added another set of twin bunk beds to our family room downstairs, and we have a pull out double futon and single foldout mattress for kids on the floor who might like to sleep in the same room as their parents. There is also an automatic 'blow up' queen Aerobed that can be used in the downstairs family room. Additionally, there is plenty of storage space with spacious closets and dressers if you come for a week. The full scale laundry room is located downstairs as well.

You not only can enjoy the forest scenery, but can cuddle up to either of the two river rock fireplaces. The Great Room has a NEW BIG SCREEN HDTV and the Family Room is a roomy second location for the group to play games, watch television, play Ping Pong on our full size table, or enjoy a cocktail at the wet bar. The downstairs refrigerator is just right for that late night snack or drink. You can even sneak out onto the back deck and step into the hot tub. For those who need to be in touch with the office, we offer free high-speed DSL access and WiFi.

Our house is the perfect location for skiing, with Squaw Valley, Sugar Bowl, Northstar, and Alpine Meadows all within 15-20 minutes. When there's lots of snow, we have a great sledding run right next door. The Tahoe Donner Cross Country Center with its gorgeous and extensive trail system and the Tahoe Donner Ski Area are only five minutes away.

Additionally, WE HAVE A LEVEL DRIVEWAY AND ARE LOCATED ON A WELL PLOWED ROAD, something to take into consideration during the big blizzards! There's room for 6 cars in the garage and driveway combined. The house also gets plenty of sun during the winter, which makes it a cheerful and relaxing retreat if you need a break from the outdoors.

If you are the outdoors type, right out our back door there is a hiking trail leading to miles of forest and to Alder Creek. Fly fishing is located nearby, and there are plenty of mountain biking trails. Additionally, you have access to the wonderful amenities of Tahoe Donner - WE PAY THE ADDITIONAL RECREATION FEE TO TAHOE DONNER SO THAT OUR GUESTS MAY ENJOY ALL THE AMENITIES FOR REASONABLE DAILY FEES. (PLEASE visit www.TahoeDonner.com to see pictures of the area and all the amenities.)

The private Marina and Beach Club at Donner Lake, the exclusive Trout Creek Recreation Center with fitness center, weight room, exercise classes, massages, and two swimming pools (THE FITNESS CENTER, SLEDDING HILL AND ONE POOL AS WELL AS SAUNA AND OUTDOOR HOT TUB ALL STAY OPEN IN THE WINTER!), the Northwoods outdoor tennis center with pool and Northwoods Grill, the newly upgraded Tahoe Donner Golf Course (in beautiful shape the summer of 2014), and private Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center that offers lessons and rides with over 40 horses - at guest fee rates -- make Tahoe Donner a veritable paradise for families and active adults.

We work hard to keep our house in tip top shape and convenient for our guests. The house is fully stocked with fine bedding and towels, good quality cookware and knives for cooking, and plenty of supplies. We have emergency supplies in case of power outages, extra light bulbs, batteries, lanterns, flashlights and candles -- and our pipes have heat tape to prevent frozen pipes in case of especially cold weather. We also provide snow melt and shovels as well as an ice pick in case of blizzards.

We completely restained the outside of the house and repainted the entire interior in the last few months. Last year, we retrofitted the hot tub, which seats eight. In addition to replacing two TV's (one with a 55' HDTV in the upstairs great room) this year, we are replacing the blinds upstairs and vertical blinds throughout the house with lovely new wooden blinds and more opaque vertical blinds for better sleeping. The hot tub is cleaned weekly so you never need worry about who was visiting before you! And we have a house manager, cleaning company, and hot tub maintenance company who are attentive to detail and available by phone to help in case of any issues in case you can't reach us right away.

Our mountain home has something for everyone - please come visit!

About Cornelia

We are a happy family that loves the outdoors; we have five active children, so we know from personal experience that the house works well for families and kids!

Cornelia purchased this lodge in 2005

Why Cornelia chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

We love Tahoe and we love all the amenities that Tahoe Donner offers. We also love the location! We are located close to the Tahoe Donner Ski Mountain, cross country ski/equestrian/ mountain biking center and lots of trails for hiking or mountain biking. We are much closer to the Bay Area and Reno Airport than locations on Lake Tahoe, and especially on busy weekends or vacation times, you save lots of travel time. We DO have the Tahoe Donner recreational passes that allow our guests to use the Tahoe Donner amenities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time! You have a beautiful home - very accomodating for our three families. We enjoyed the hot tub and building snow forts out back. Thank you.

A perfect home for our family

  • 5 of 5

Nine of us stayed in this home: 2 grandparents, 4 40-somethings, and 3 grandsons age 11-15. It was perfect. We like to cook at home because 1 of us has severe allergies, and there was every pot and pan and plate and glass that we needed. Even a slow cooker and a rice cooker. We've stayed in quite a few homes on family vacations, and this was by far the best appointed for family fun around the table. The hot tub and TVs and ping pong table and close proximity to Donner Lake were also spectacular.

Rental Home Exceeded Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time staying at this cabin! With a group of 14 people, it was hard to find a place that was going to meet our needs at a reasonable price. However, our stay at this cabin was better than we could have expected. There was more than enough space to accommodate our group -- both in regards to the sleeping arrangements and the kitchen. While the pictures made me wonder if the upstairs living room would feel cramped for our group, there was plenty of space for us all to hang out together and play games, chat. etc.

The purpose of our trip was to do some skiing. The close proximity to several ski resorts made this place ideal. We went to Northstar, and the drive to and from was easy. It took us about 30 minutes in the morning, but we had traffic because Northstar got 21 inches of fresh powder the day before. The drive home was about 20 minutes.

Cornelia made sure we had all of the information that we needed to get the most out of our weekend at her home in Truckee. While we didn't need to contact her while we were there, she made herself available if anything should have arisen.

The condition of the cabin was incredible. While I know that Cornelia has been renting out this cabin for over 10 years, you could easily mistake it for a new home. It is hard to imagine that renters have been in and out of this place for years.

If you are looking for a great place to vacation with a large group of friends or a few families, don't pass this place up!

Wonderful Vacation Experience!

  • 5 of 5

We were so glad that Cornelia accepted our rental request in the last moment and turned out an excellent vacation stay!! The cabin was extremely well maintained with fully loaded kitchen, super clean environment, quality furnitures - just name whatever you need for a vacation. The owner put notes literally EVERYWHERE so it is hard to make any mistake if occupants read it through. Kids had fun on the deck playing snow safely while we were relaxing inside the house. It was one of the best vacation rental experience that we had!

Beautiful Cabin Great for Family Gatherings

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed our ten day stay.

The upstairs (kitchen, dinning room, living room) was open, spacious, and comfortable. The kitchen was especially well equipped and large enough for several chefs to cook at the same time. The large dinning room table was great for family dinners and board games. The downstairs family room provided a great separate social area for games or quiet reading.

The bedrooms were secluded and quiet and the beds were comfortable.

We were a bit concerned about the driveway being large enough, but it fit all of our cars.

The roads and driveway were plowed. It is an easy drive to many ski resorts (Squaw, Northstar, Sugar Bowl.....) and taking a shortcut (the 89/alder creek) can avoid ski traffic!

If you have a large family and want to have the whole group together without feeling crowded, this is a great cabin for you.

Relaxing Weekend

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place to stay for a relaxing long weekend in Tahoe. What I loved most about our stay was that the accommodations were ample and the house was very organized and clean. For a fastidious person like myself, It means a lot when the linen and kitchen cabinets are properly organized. Everything felt very up-to-date and well taken care of. We especially loved grilling out on the deck and playing pin pong in downstairs living room. While it was just the two of us, I look forward to returning with a larger group because the house is very accommodating to a large family or friend group. Can't wait to return for skiing in the winter! 4 thumbs up!

Incredible Stay in Lake Tahoe!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our time at forest scene for 14 and it was the perfect place for us and all of our friends. The house was incredibly well supplied with all the staples we needed and it is very well kept, clean, and super cozy. There is an awesome ping pong table, hot tub, and the large deck out back is perfect for grilling and eating outside (the gas grill is amazing). There are also a ton of comfy beds and each room has its own TV as well as a huge HDTV in the main living room. The owner was really hospitable and was even flexible on our dates when we ran into a scheduling issue which was a lifesaver. Booking was incredibly easy and the location is super convenient for skiing, golf, fishing, or heading to town or the lakes. We had an absolute blast at this awesome mountain lodge and can't wait to come back. Thanks, Cornelia!
