About Kara Keller
Kara is a Michigan native with an appreciation for nature, a passion for good design and a love for historic homes. She moved to Kalamazoo from the shores of Lake Michigan in 1990 to attend college. She remained in Kalamazoo because of it's youthful energy, amazing people and an up and coming direction which has since been realized. When she's not combing the earth for treasures to use in her kottages and working on DIY projects, she's often found running, cross country skiing, biking, kayaking and traveling.
Kara Keller purchased this Apartment in 1996

Highly recommend this place
Stayed for 6 days and really loved it. We invited some people to the apartment, first our son and daughter inlaw on their wedding night and they were pretty happy with their bridal suite. We then invited friends to visit us in the living room and had a great time.
The needs of guests are well taken care of in terms of bathroom supplies and kitchen stock.
We would surely like to stay here again in our future visits.
We had a great time. The cottage was nicely decorated and very comfortable. We loved how close to everything the cottage was. We truly enjoyed our stay and definitely will be back again!!
Happy in Kalamazoo
The cottage was clean, well stocked and roomy enough for our 3 adult group. It is convenient to the downtown area. Breakfast items allowed choices and were very good. Would take this place over a motel/hotel any day. I do think there should have been some notice of the steep stairway to this upper apartment. If you have anyone in your party the east bit mobile, they'd have problems with the steps. Some road noise starting about 6.
Great get away
This loft was perfect. The owners have thought of everything. It was so tastefully decorated and comfortable. The beds were just right and there were robes in the closet for us to use!! My granddaughter said she would love to live there!
Great Get Away!
Mom and I stayed in the Driftwood cottage during the 4th of July weekend of 2016. The place was easy to find and very close to attractions and downtown shopping. The checkin process was very simple...just input the two codes given to you and you are all set. The patio area was very welcoming and had a nice setup. You can have your breakfast, lunch and dinner outside at the table that seats 8 (I believe). My mom cooked on the grill and it was a very relaxing time...especially when the patio lights came on. Another couple staying at the cottage made a pitfire so mom and I joined them and had a really nice conversation. The parking was a nice gravel lot. Our cottage was on the top floor and was beautiful and ,very spacious, spotless, welcoming, and cozy all at the same time. The decorations were beautiful and made you feel as though this was your second home. The beds were very comfortable with top of the line bedding. There were ceiling fans in each room which was great with controlling the temperature. The kitchen...although small was very accommodating and most of what we needed was there. The breakfast food that was there consisted of cereal (with almond milk..very good), waffles, bagels, sausage, granola, cinnamon rolls, coffee and tea. Eggs would have been nice but we made it work. The entertainment system was nice and there were a basket of DVD'S to choose from if you didn't want to watch cable. The bathroom was stocked with everything you may have forgotten...mouthwash, lotion, shaving cream, cotton balls, lint brushes...etc...the owners was very easy to work with and answered all questions. I can't think of anything negative to say. I do want to mention the steps leading inside the cottage...they are very thin, narrow stairs which may be difficult for those with knee or back issues. It was a little time consuming trying to get all of our luggage up and back down the stairs. However we made it work. If you are in great shape and young...if won't be an issue at all. However if you are older with limited mobility, you should consider one of the cottage on the first floor. I do recommend this cottage. I almost forgot that its dog friendly!! I'll be back soon!!
KZoo restaurant week
We stayed at Kara's Kottages with another couple and our dogs in the 2-bedroom rental and had a wonderful night. The rental was FULLY equipped with everything from fluffy towels to high-end bedding. There's also everything you need for that morning cup of coffee/tea, to the perfect breakfast.
We will definitely be back. Thanks Kara for being pet friendly and for taking such good care of us. :)
