Our family fell in love with Harbor Island day one. Then, we found the perfect beach home on Ocean Marsh. You get all of the scenery and feel of the beach with the tropical feel of palm trees, ferns, and moss covered trees. We vacations at our beach home often. We have family gathering, golf weekends, fishing contests, wildlife viewing, and fun nights gazing at the unbelievable number of stars as we wind down the day on the second floor deck.
if you are looking for a place to reconnect as a family, experience the low country, have a great mix of beach time, nature walks, sunsets, and great food and shopping destinations. Harbor Island is the place to be!
A gated and secure vacation destination with tennis courts, volleyball, basketball, great pool and work out facility.

Heather Whitton purchased this house in 2005
Our beach home provides the full experience of Harbor Island. Experience the marsh and the ocean from the back decks. A quick golf cart ride (one of our favorite things to do) and you can chose your beach access point.
We often go kayaking, you are minutes away from Hunting Island, there are several great local eateries, several places to buy fresh sea food, Savannah Ga is 40 minutes away and Charleston is 60 minutes away.
We just returned home from spending a month at your beautiful home. The location was wonderful, we enjoyed so many beautiful sunrises from the deck and the lush greenery around the house. The beach is beautiful and we spent many hours walking and enjoying the scenery . Everyone we met was so friendly and the location of your home made it very easy to go sightseeing and enjoy Beaufort , Savannah and so many other places. The area restaurants were great and we loved the availability of great fresh seafood.
We had a wonderful vacation and have reserved the house for next February. Also our dog loved his rides to the beach in the golf cart !
The house is a terrific place for a family vacation. Our family of four (plus two pups) had a wonderful time. This was our second year here and we are already looking forward to next year. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare just about anything you can think of. We had plenty of space to spread out and were able to sit together comfortably in the living room to watch movies, etc... The view from the house is simply beautiful. There is a view of the marsh and the ocean....it couldn't get any better. We saw a deer crossing the marsh early one morning...painted buntings...just beautiful! Having the golf cart was a major plus....it made beach going so easy and was great for cruising around the island in the evenings enjoying the wildlife.
This was our third stay in Harbor Island and we really enjoyed the isolated, wooded area of this house. It was a quick ride to pool and beach by golf cart. The view of the ocean was great from deck (which not many houses in area can claim). House was clean and offered everything we needed. Smooth and quick interactions with property manager whenever needed - would definitely return.
We have visited South Carolina many times over the years and enjoy the people, the Gullah culture, the food and the wildlife. This year, for our three generation family vacation, we wanted a quiet place, near the water, big enough to accommodate our family of seven, plus dog, and interesting enough to provide activities for guests from three to sixty-five. We were not disappointed.
The home is very clean and roomy, yet cozy with family touches everywhere. The kitchen is well appointed for the foodies among us. The living room is spacious and opens on to a deck with a view of ocean and salt marsh. Other decks open from bedrooms, both up and downstairs. Egrets wade close by the property at high tide, ospreys soar and hunt overhead. The handy golf cart conveyed us to the nearby beach for sunny days of wandering, combing and collecting.
The gated community is friendly and very quiet. We loved being greeted in the morning by the sound of songbirds, not traffic. We loved the silent evening walks with no street lights to obscure the stars. The grandkids were particularly excited about the alligator basking in the pond just down the street.
Shopping and touring historic Beaufort are about 25 minutes away. Fresh seafood is about 10 minutes away. Miles of pristine beach are about 5 minutes away. A good book in a quiet deck chair by a sleeping dog is always at hand.
A long car trip from the land of ice and snow, but well worth it. Highly recommended.
Although the photos of the house and views are great on this website, the home and location is even better than expected. The ocean view is much closer than we thought it would be but it would not have mattered had it been at a greater distance. The marsh is constantly changing and so entertaining. We were even treated to double rainbows over the marsh one evening as we sat on the deck. The house is wonderful and everything we needed was there, including some things we did not know we needed. The neighboring house on one side is close but screened well by great landscaping and the other side was even more private. The entire neighborhood is very quiet and life seems to move at a much slower pace. Everyone, without exception, in the community was very friendly. There is a golf cart and bikes are available at the house, but we like to walk. When we went out to walk our two fairly large dogs, we were greeted with welcoming smiles from everyone; something I had worried about before arriving. It seems to be a dog and family loving community. There are sensible rules in the community - dogs on leash and no excessive barking for example, which helps to make this community so special. We checked out each of several beach access areas and they are all very different. You can go from a quiet area where there are great sunsets and fishing, another where there is a wonderfully flat beach lined by beautiful houses, or you can go to an even more quiet area where the marshes are behind the very wide beach at low tide. We found it hard to leave the house and its wonderful view, but we enjoyed a trip to Hunting Island, found some great seafood (from Gay Seafood) to cook at the house, and met friendly people everywhere that we went. The guy at a local market, Marsh Tacky, asked if he could send out dog bones when he noticed our dogs in the car. There is nothing negative that we can think of and we hope to return soon. Thanks for sharing your home and providing such a wonderful experience where our dogs were also very welcome!
Our family had a wonderful time. We have been checking out beaches for the past few years, trying to find "our perfect getaway"...and we did!! By day three, the kids were asking me to book it for next year's trip. We will definately be back. The house was located in a beautiful and serene setting right on the marsh. The views were breathtaking. Pictures are exactly what you will find....no surprises and no disappointments. There was so much wildlife!! We saw dolphins, alligators (even some babies), multiple birds nesting...just soooo much natural beauty!! The golf cart made getting to the beach a breeze...not to mention it was great for just cruising around and taking in the scenery of the island. The beach was fantastic. During low tide you could walk and explore for hours (keep sunscreen handy) and during high tide, the water was perfect for splashing around.
Just down the road a ways is Marsh Tacky...a must for a great sandwich!! And the owners are soooo nice.
We also enjoyed kayaking with Kim and David from Beaufort Kayak tours.
It was the best vacation ever!!!
