Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time at the Waterlily. We went to Bar Harbor for our honeymoon and the size of the cottage perfectly suited two people. The quarters were comfortable, the kitchen was large for the size of the cottage, the king sized bed was great and the view made it all perfect. Only complaint was the water pressure on the shower was high but that does not diminish the comfort, convenience, and beauty of the cottage.

Family Reunion June 2106

  • 5 of 5

We had a family reunion and we able to rent all three houses. All of the houses were beyond our expectations! The pool was so much fun, we had nightly fires in the fire pit and the views were amazing. Hopefully we will be able to rent this again when we do another family reunion!

A wonderful week at Waterlily

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have just returned home from spending a week in the Waterlily cottage and we can't say enough good things about it. We have rented vacation cottages for years and have never had one so well appointed and maintained. Everything worked, the furnishings were comfortable and the overall decor was tastefully chosen. The published descriptions were right on target. We can attest to the fact that that is not always the case.

Chelcey was very quick to respond to a quick question we had on the operation of the gas oven and after that we had no problems at all.

The location is very convenient to both the town and Acadia NP and the sunsets over the water can be spectacular. We can't think of a thing that we would change. I am quite certain that a return trip is in our future.

Honeymoon at Queen Anne's

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Waterlily Cottage for our honeymoon and it was exactly what we hoped for! The location was great, just a few minutes drive from Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor, but far enough away to relax and escape the crowds that come with downtown. We were looking for a quiet place on the water and Waterlily delivered just that! The views were wonderful, we woke up to the smell of salt air and ocean breezes every morning and had coffee on the deck before starting our day. The pool was lovely and large enough to share with the other guests. We were able to rent a kayak, have it delivered and put in right in front of the cottage. The stone beach at low tide was fun to explore and we saw plenty of wildlife right out in the bay. All in all this property was a home run for us. We will absolutely be coming back. LOVED IT!!

Great view and pool, very average accommodations

  • 4 of 5

The view is magnificent from this tiny cottage...as is the heated pool. The furnishings leave a lot to be desired. It is clean and uncomfortable. If you are readers and like a comfortable couch, chair, or good light at the bedside, do not rent this property. A hard futon serves as the couch, bedside lighting is inadequate. The kitchen is weak with a very tiny fridge with VERY cheap and old PLASTIC dishes and flatware. Barely two feet of counter space.. Nice bath but TINY old sink... No AC. FANTASTIC PORCH AND VIEW.

Owner is very nice and helpful, property is located well away from the mess of cheesy downtown.. Very close to Acadia, which is wonderful...

So, if you don't cook much, and don't sit and read, this would be ideal..

Owner's Response: As an owner who strives to make sure that her guests are delighted and comfortable, I admit that I feel somewhat insulted by this review. No one else has ever described the 1930s cottage, or the LLBean cottage futon as uncomfortable, as you can see in the previous reviews. For someone that claims to be such an avid reader, this guest certainly did not read any of the check in and property information that I sent her, nor did she seem to review any of the images of the cottage before booking. (Nor did she read check out instructions, as evidenced by the state in which the cottage was left.) I received a call from this guest the day after she and her husband arrived (3 hours early!) and immediately complied with her request to bring brighter light bulbs for each of the bedside lamps. There are no less than 3 reading lamps in the living room, in addition to overhead lighting. As anyone can see from the pictures, it is not a large space. However, we have done our best to accommodate it with higher end and aesthetically appropriate furnishings. In fact, 2 previous guests have asked me about the brand of the king size bed, so that they could purchase the same one. The kitchen plates are NOT old or "very cheap." They are from Crate and Barrel. All the knives and pots and pans are high end (calphlon/cuisinart.) Though the kitchen is small, we've done everything we can to make it a useful, efficient space. Again, this is notable from the images. I am truly sorry that this guest was not comfortable, but I think that she would not have been comfortable in a space that was less than a typical house. For what it's worth, we do have plans to switch out the cottage futon for a sleep sofa for 2016. This is our most popular rental, and books solid every season, with many returning guests!

The perfect cottage for our vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I traveled from Alabama for what proved to be the trip of our lifetime. We stayed in Waterlily cottage with direct view of the water. It was marvelous! It was close enough to be minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia, but out of town enough to seclude yourself after a day of outings. We enjoyed breakfasts on the deck every morning before heading out for fun in Acadia or excursions in Bar Harbor. The temperature during our trip was truly amazing with highs in the 60s on some days, 70s on others so pack accordingly! I brought too many shorts for July! The "heated" salt water pool is beautiful, however, we only put our feet in it as is was very cold. I wasn't expecting hot tub heat, but it didn't feel heated. But with nighttime temps in the 50 and 60s I'm sure it is a struggle. All in all, I would highly recommend Queen Anne's Cottages as you can tell by my 5 star rating. You won't regret renting from Chelcey. She is awesome and even took care of disposal of my large suitcase after the airline managed to break off a wheel assembly. I can only hope to come back one day and it will most definitely be at Queen Anne's Cottages.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Sheri, for your kind words about my cottage! I'm so happy that you had a great trip! A word about the weather and the pool: I would say that the week you were here in July was rather unusual (as in, rather chilly) as we typically have more 80 degree weather in July. In fact, the week after your departure, we had highs in the high 80s. However, your advice to future guests to pack accordingly is very sound...you never know what the weather in Maine will be! I'm sorry that the pool was too chilly for you. The pool is heated with 24 solar panels. As of right now, it is about 8am in the morning and the outside temperature is about 65 degrees with the sun shining. The pool, however, is already at 81 degrees! I expect it to reach 85-90 by mid afternoon. We converted to solar after we were sickened by the amount of propane we were burning per season (about 10,000 gallons!) It was a massive investment, but we are environmentally minded, and we are so happy with the results. We used to struggle to keep the pool at 80 degrees, but now, during the day, it's always much warmer than that. I suspect that the chillier air temperature while you were here made it much less appealing to swim. Also-if you tried the pool on a day when it was overcast, the pool temp was likely in the 70s. Thanks so much for the 5 stars! If you decide to come back to Maine, we'll be happy to have you return to Waterlily Cottage! :)
