Life is good in Guilford, CT
Angela Camarda purchased this house in 2014
Guilford is one of those charming seaside towns in Connecticut that still has a local hardware store, a farmers market, a collectible book store and "Town Green" that is host to many fun events year round; all while playing host to cool shops and hip restaurants!
Check out "Bishops Orchards" for the best pies & apple cider donuts, "Browns Diner" on the Post Road for a hearty breakfast, the "Guilford Mooring" at the Marina for cocktails & lobster bisque (the Oreo Mudslides at the Mooring are unbelievable!) or "Buffalino’s" for your own personal pizza- BYOB (NY Times reviewed) or "Augers Pub" and Carson's for a great burger!
The "Guilford MarketPlace" across from the Town Green is GREAT for everything from a cup of coffee with a fresh-baked muffin to a gourmet dinner to go!
Gourmet deli sandwiches & fresh mixed salads are yummy there as well. It is a popular meeting place and has it all.
Pizza, clothing boutiques, gift shops, wine & cheese venues are all right there…just a stones throw away.
Take the cruise tour of the Thimble Islands with Captain Bob at Stoney Point, Branford...its very interesring; you will really enjoy it!
Beautiful Gardens! (please water if dry)
Indoor/Outdoor Living at its best
We so enjoyed our family stay at this beautiful, excellently maintained coastal house. It has historic character, and is tastefully decorated in warm and neutral tones with “seaside” accents that we think would please anyone. It absolutely lives up to the photos posted by the owner. The views of the Sound from most of the major rooms, and the various outdoor decks, are lovely, and we enjoyed watching the fish swimming below. The interior layout is spacious yet allows togetherness for vacationers, with a double-height living room flowing to the dining area and a big open kitchen. The master bedroom on the lower level is like a luxury cruiseship suite, with big windows overlooking the Sound. Everything one should need is provided, and Angela is very responsive to inquiries. There are pleasant walks starting right at the house, and nearby Guilford is charming and offers yummy eateries.
The BeachHouse provided us with a truly beautiful and very comfortable space for our much needed vacation. Not only was the house very, very lovely (we found it even nicer than the on-line photos!) but the setting was picture perfect. As two couples who frequently travel together, this was the perfect place to slow down and celebrate another wonderful year of friendship. We began each day on the cozy porch with morning coffee and conversation, then returned there often for reading, crafting, bird watching, and listening to the soothing "lap, lap lap" of the sound. Amenities abounded in the house, and Angela was notably caring and responsive to us. We couldn't have asked for a nicer, more peaceful place to be.
Perhaps what we enjoyed nearly as much as the house was the town and location itself. Everywhere we went, folks were warm and welcoming, waving, greeting us, and sharing their stories as well as anything we might need. Walks through the neighborhood and surrounding town were hugely pleasant, shops and restaurants were excellent, and we even found an tiny free library "just up the street" where we could give and get some great titles. The beach, though small, was fine for a swim especially at high tide; the waters offered clamming, crabbing, and fishing.
As residents of New Jersey where great beach vacations abound, I must say that this Connecticut home with its sound location was a delightfully different and welcome "beach" choice for us. We simply loved it and would recommend it as a perfect place for friends to gather for any season. Oh, but don't take our week: we hope to be back!
We enjoyed our stay at the "Beach House" tremendously. There are several outdoor decks and features to enjoy while at the house and two beaches to choose from a short walk down the street (the one at the end has a fun diving board out on the rocks to use when closer to high tide). The people in the neighborhood are very friendly and always say hi when passing. There is plenty of parking across the street in a driveway that belongs to the house as well as two spots directly in front.
The inside of the house is spacious and decorated nicely. You can tell the owners take pride in their home. The house is very well stocked with most items you would need. There is central air if it is hot the week you are there.
Angela gets back to you quickly with any questions you may have.
The pictures are great, but it is even better in person. This is a vacation that all 4 of us said that we would like to do again and recommend to anyone looking for a great house directly on the water.
We stayed at Angela's beautiful beach house for 5 nights and it was wonderful! The house is fully equipped and beautifully decorated. The many decks make it perfect to relax under the sun, enjoy a meal right over the water or enjoy the beautiful view in the shade. The two bedrooms are perfectly cozy and both include en-suite bathrooms. Since we were 3 couples, this was a little bit of an inconvenience and the studio/loft is not as comfortable as the bedrooms. We would still return to Angela's because the rest of the house, the view, the proximity to the beach and overall experience made it worth it! Angela is a great host and is always available to answer questions.
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful Guilford house right on the water. The interior is even more amazing than the photos display, very tasteful furnishings and accessories. The kitchen is large and well-stocked for serving large meals . The barbecue on the deck was also a bonus, and we loved the fun bar off the deck with stools and a neon light. This large home is situated in a quiet cove and very peaceful. Our hosts were very accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Truly, this home is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed, and we use VRBO a lot!
I just finished my second stay here and loved it as much the second time. This stylishly cozy home on the Long Island Sound in Guilford is truly a little gem!The weather was typical early spring so we made use of the fireplace which added to the ambience of the space and that fabulous view of the cove and Long Island Sound. The Guilford area is great and is filled with good dining spots, great markets and friendly people. Angela and Al go above and beyond in making sure that you have everything you need to have a comfortable stay. Thank you! Looking forward to my next visit
