We purchased this property as the former Zach's On The Rock's. We could not save the restaurant, but renovated the house and the cottage. We reside in the house so are close by to handle your every need.
Laurie Gove purchased this cottage in 2002
Amazing!!! We had the most perfect lovely home to stay during our unforgettable Thanksgiving week in Montgomery, VT. This is a beautiful home well taken care of, superb decor!. Perfect home to stay every season....it's so well equipped, so comfortable, clean, spacious. The owners Les & Laiurie are so attentive, lovely people. We felt like living in a fairy tale. Can't wait to go back fall 2017. Thank you so much Les & Laurie!!!
The minute our feet touched the stone steps we could feel the stress melting away. We have stayed in quite a few VRBO's and this one hands down is the best yet. Every detail was immaculate, and there is a lot of detail, from the handmade chandeliers to the waterfall faucet stone basin bathroom sink. The girls absolutely loved the European feel and super comfortable beds. The boys liked the spiral staircase and the incredible pristine pool steps away from the back door. We enjoyed great family dinners outside on the huge deck while listening to the relaxing sounds of nature in the backyard. In the evenings it was so quiet and the air was so clean and the rooms so comfortable all of us slept great. We enjoyed fun trips to the Shelburne Museum and other local attractions, but we mostly stayed at the cottage it was so relaxing. Les and Laurie were gracious hosts and every detail was cared for before our arrival. No one wanted to leave when it was time to go home!
On The Rocks was the most beautiful property we have ever enjoyed! Laurie and Les could not be better hosts. If you love all things French, this is lovely down to every detail. It is fresh, clean, comfortable and cozy. We hiked, walked, went swimming, ate farm to table and wandered everywhere. The locals are wonderful...giving us many places to try, all good. If you stay here for a week or more, check out Sutton, Canada and Old Quebec City...We were sad to leave and have promised ourselves we will return...The Gove's are lovely people! Wait until you see their home!! One more thing, the bed in the master suite has sleepy dust in it....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
On the rocks is a beautiful, comfortable, clean, and private property! We stayed there for a little less than a week and had a wonderful relaxing quite vacation!
What beautiful accommodations we had with our son Jason and his wife Sarah. Thank you so much for all the comfort of home . The beds are so comfortable and I love hearing all the animal sounds.
I found out about this place through my dad who had stayed here several months earlier. He came back from his ski trip and described this house as "simply incredible," and I would have to agree.
This beautiful house has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. It's perfect for a ski trip to Jay Peak - it will comfortably sleep 4 people (1 king bed in the upstairs loft and 1 queen sized bed downstairs). The owner, Les, is remarkably kind and makes sure you have all of the comforts of home including a fully stocked wood shed with plenty of firewood. There is a large flatscreen TV in the family room with satellite and a Blu-Ray player.
The bathrooms were incredible. Heated floors, tons of towels, and you could literally fit 10 people in the shower. No problems with hot water; it came out hot and stayed hot!
When I go away I prefer to stay at a place with a kitchen. Cooking your own food saves a ton of money, especially at overpriced ski resort restaurants. This is the perfect place for just that - the kitchen is fully stocked with a dishwasher, fridge, microwave/convection oven, toaster, and stovetop. All the utensils and dinnerware are already supplied in the cabinets. There is also a propane grill on the deck. Just know that there isn't a full sized oven in the house.
Located right in Montgomery, there is a small grocery store right down the street for anything you need. The house is also only 10 minutes from the mountain.
I'd recommend this place for anyone looking for a great place to stay while skiing at Jay Peak, either family or friends. It also would make for an excellent romantic getaway for a couple any time of year.
Once again I want to thank Les for the opportunity to stay in this gorgeous cottage during our excellent ski trip. I am sure to return soon!
