We have now completed our second full year of inviting guests to share our Lakefront Home. We have met some outstanding individuals and have particularly loved our many conversations designed to help ensure a most positive Lake Gaston experience (for some this involved rest and relaxation, for others it involved fishing, boating, swimming and gaming, while still others enjoyed winery tours, golfing and shopping).
We have also appreciated the insight provided by our guests that has helped us improve the experience for each subsequent guest.
For those who are planning a vacation for the summer of 2017, understand that calendars fill quickly – many of our guests lock-in dates a year in advance (notice that dates are already being filled within our 2017 calendar).
Remember that Lake Gaston has incredible weather throughout the year - my family was boating in late December this year - with temperatures in the mid-70's...
The key to a most successful summer vacation is often in the planning stage. My recommendation is to begin early.
This year our home has hosted single couples looking for a romantic get-away, weddings, anniversaries, family reunions, and a large number of guests who simply wanted an opportunity to reconnect with friends and family.
With this year’s experience as the backdrop, we look forward to working with each of you as you plan your Lake Front Get-Away.
Although we spent much of our time living near the beaches of North and South Carolina, we fell in love with the lake life on our family summer vacations. Currently, we live in Raleigh, NC, just a short drive away.
Keith Kremer purchased this house in 2014
After enjoying family vacations at Lake Gaston for years, we decided to invest in a home of our own. We hope our home provides families with a special place to spend time together while enjoying everything the lake has to offer.
During our summer vacations, we often spent as much money renting kayaks, paddle boats, life jackets, skis, knee boards, wake boards and ropes as we spent for our accommodations. As we prepared to share our home with others, we decided to provide as many of these items as possible to help ensure a most positive lake experience. In addition, we attempted to plan for "rainy days", by providing two separate "gaming rooms" with a variety of items sure to challenge guests of all ages.
The Summer Shade Inn is situated in a peaceful cove off Lizard Creek. Join us for a most relaxing, yet event filled, Lake Front experience.
Our home is located in a peaceful creek on Lake Gaston. The location provides a nearly tranquil lake environment with very little boat traffic. Our family spends the majority of our time in the waters surrounding the house; however, Lake Gaston is a three minute boat ride away for those who prefer the open water (35-miles from end-to-end).
We as a group from church got together for a relaxing weekend and to ring in the new year. The home was more than we could ask for. Keith was very helpful through the process and provided all the details of home before even arriving. You could fill the warmth and welcoming spirit as soon as you walked in. All the amenities were more than enough and the place was very kid friendly for the little ones. Place was clean and ready for our arrival. It's a place that will we have lasting memories. We had friends who took the opportunity to get engaged during their stay. Memories that will last a lifetime. We definitely would recommend this place to stay for anyone and we are looking to plan our next trip here in warmer weather. Thank you to Keith for this glorious opportunity!
This by far, is one of the best mini vacations I have ever had! The owner has thought of EVERYTHING that visitors need and our jaws dropped at the cleanliness, the games, the setup, I mean absolutely EVERYTHING from the time we walked through the door until the time we left. Spectacular views! PLENTY of SPACE! SO comfortable that one literally feels like they are at HOME! The first night, my hubby and my friend's hubby did a lowcountry boil for our small group of friends and the 2nd night, I threw a bday party in which we did karaoke, played pool and table tennis - actually utilized the game space! The next morning, myself, my husband and friends did NOT want to leave. We plan on making this a yearly small and intimate get-together spot and also have plans to bring our kids with us in the summer for a family trip. This place was very special to me, as my family is originally from Halifax county and it felt JUST right relaxing in the area of my family's origin! I HIGHLY recommend The Summer Shade Inn to all! Keith was an absolute GEM, very responsive and very open to answering any questions as well as truly making his family's home like a home away from home for visitors! THANK YOU AGAIN! Everyone is STILL talking about how beautiful everything was and how much fun we had - and we didn't even go fishing or boating! Can't WAIT to come back!
This home is hard to sum up in a few words. The home was spotless when we arrived. This home has all the amenities you could think of. We were sad that our stay was short and we didn't have time utilize all of them. The property views were breath taking. The home is located within a short driving distance of places to dine. We had dinner at "The Pointe". The food was delicious and the entertainment was great!
The process of renting this home was a good one from start to finish. The owner has thought of everything. All my interactions with Mr Kremer were pleasant. He always responded in a timely manner.
I will definitely be returning in the near future. I would love to revisit during warmer weather. I highly recommend renting this home.
The house is beautifully maintained. The items available for guests to use were overwhelming. Fully stocked play room (pool table, ping pong, etc.); closet full of games; outdoor play items stocked; use of pedal boat, paddle boards, kayaks.
My family and I stayed at The Summer Shade Inn October 14, 2016 and it was everything I expected and more. The house was beautifully laid out and clean. Keith had provided everything I needed for my stay to be easy and convenient. I had a group of 18 people and the home did not feel overcrowded. We really enjoyed fishing off the deck and the gas fireplace at night. Keith was very pleasant and keep in touch with me every step of the way to make sure that our stay was a success. I really appreciated how organized the house was presented.
Thank you Keith for sharing your beautiful home with us.
My family and I had our first reunion and we couldn't of asked for a better place! Even before getting to the property, Keith was very helpful and gave us all the information we needed for stay. The location is perfect and the lake was amazing! He has everything you need to enjoy the weekend. The house was big enough for my big family and we all were very comfortable. Even though it rained most of the weekend due to Hurricane Matthew, we still found many things to do together indoors. I recommend Keith's place to anyone who wants a quiet getaway in a beautiful part of North Carolina. Thanks for everything Keith.
