Kick back on the deck of this mountain cabin and sip your morning coffee while taking in the majestic views of Slate Mountain. Or, watch for falling stars and search for constellations free of light and smog polution. The unobstructed views of the night sky are tremendous! You may plan your rock climbing trek or fishing expedition up the Tule River while sitting at the dining table. The comfortable couches are perfect to curl up with a novel in front of a fire as snow falls around this peaceful cabin before you head out sledding with the kids.
You will love the five-minute walk to the Camp Nelson general store for an ice cream, a Nelson Burger from the Diner or the whole family can travel a half mile to the Pierpoint General Store and Restaurant for a meal that tastes like it was cooked at home.
This perfectly located cabin is ideal for peaceful time away from cell phones, computers and the hustle and bustle of everyday life or merely a foray into the High Sierras to see the giant redwoods in the National Forest and the Trail of 100 Giants
You can easily visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon on a day trip. However, once you are here you will appreciate the lack of tourists, tourist buses, and the solitude that comes with our quiet hamlet located in the Sequoia National Monument south of Sequoia and Kings Canyon.

Our family started in the rental business in 1974 in Bakersfield, California. It is our passion and pride to offer quality properties to our community and the communities we become a part of. We have expanded to the Central Coast and Sequoias. As owners that are hands on, we are proud of each unique property we offer to others to enjoy for a few days or make their home. As the second generation I am proud to carry on my dad's vision and dreams for our properties.
Lisa McFadden Neath purchased this cabin in 1990
My dad had always dreamed of having a place in the mountains to fish and be amongst the trees. He wanted something to pass on to his family so he purchased this cabin in 1990. He loves that we are able to share it with others since he can't spend the time there he would like. He relishes in the great feedback from people that appreciate our property and enjoys getting to meet guests when he is around.
Our cabin is not a house, a mansion or a hotel, but a quaint and cozy preserved cabin that has been well loved and maintained. The best part? Cell Phones do not work in the mountains and we do not have internet service. This is truly a time away from all the hectic electronics of today's world. I can relax and not feel tied to work.
We had a great time! Mom has never stayed in a cabin before and brought everything, even chairs for the deck. She was pleasantly surprised at how well equipped the cabin was, it has everything. We found everything so clean and homey. We loved it and we will be back. We met Joe and thought he was a terrific guy. We enjoyed our cozy fires and the view is spectacular. We even saw some deer in the front yard.
Our family felt at home in this clean and cozy Nelson Camp cabin. We enjoyed the detailed decor, clean linens, a variety of cookwarecla convenient washer and dryer, and a wonderful deck to see the beautiful sunrise and wonderful night skies (especially in the big red chairs). We were were also welcomed with a complimentary bottle of wine. We appreciate that this cabin is dog friendly and definitely would rent again in the near future.
great house outside of camp nelson, great balconies, very clean, very satisfied
The cabin is located a very short walk from the meadow (great location for sledding in the snow), the Tavern (local bar/restaurant ) and general store. It's a short 1 mile drive from Camp Nelson Trail. The rear deck is roomy and has a nice view of the nearby hills. The cabin is clean and cozy.
The Cabin has everything you need to cook, barbeque and relax. The town is quant with a beautiful view of the mountains and trees from the deck of the cabin. There is plenty of space outside to hang out on the deck or run around in the yard. Also, there are many hiking trails and swimming holes that are near the town (within 30 minutes)...some trails are right in Camp Nelson and there is great river access from the Belknap Camp Ground. Overall, there were few mosquitos and flies around the cabin when we'd hang out on the deck which was a delightful surprise. We had a great time relaxing with our family and it was perfect for our 1 yr. old's first "camping" experience....
Lisa is also an extremely responsive and supportive host. I appreciated that if we needed anything, she always responded and even offered her phone number for us to call when we were at the cabin if needed. Of course, we didn't need to contact her because the cabin has everything you'd need.
Highly recommended for a mountain getaway! (Make sure to BBQ some of the local steaks from Gifford's Market--info is in the packet Lisa provides prior to your rental).
Our stay at Lisa's Camp Nelson cabin was just perfect! We wanted to see the giant Sequoia trees without going into the National Park and saw many beautiful trees and other sights close by! The cabin was so comfortable and welcoming and amazingly clean. Sitting on the front deck in the morning and evening was so enjoyable with the view of Slate Mountain and mountain smells and noises. I enjoyed seeing many butterflies in the area and hummingbirds. The little village of Camp Nelson is so quaint and all of the locals were so friendly as we walked around the neighborhood. We would love to stay again for a longer period of time. Thanks Lisa for sharing your cabin!
The cabin was exactly what I was expecting.
My one disappointment was I love to grill and the grill was out of BUTANE and I was unable to grill. This takes a lot of points off me, because it is something I am expecting to do. I left the maid a note and the owner didn't even acknowledge.
Trail of 100 Giants is nearby as is the Amos Alonzo Stagg Tree. Beautiful Aspen trees as wells as Giant Redwoods are native to this beautiful area.
