We started out with several issues----- 1) There was no key in the lockbox to get into the property. We only had one functioning key the entire time and none to the back door. I paid to check in 2 hours early and wasted an hour waiting to find out there was another lockbox that was hidden. Fortunately is was a lovely day to sit outside but I do believe I should be refunded for at least one of those extra hours I paid for. 2) There was not a corkscrew to be had in the house. Lots of wine glasses, but no corkscrew. A visitor prior to us had requested that as well. 3) There is a "gentleman" who hangs around outside a lot (assume that he lives there) gave us the heeby-jeeby's. 4) The downstairs bathroom/tub shower leaks from under the tub. No (seriously none) water pressure in the sink and the outlet didn't work and couldn't be reset. Big mess of water we had to clean up. 5) There is no signage anywhere we could find - and we looked- assigning parking spaces. We we woken up our first morning there with loud aggressive knocking on the door telling us ""you don't live here" - only get two parking spaces in front of the unit. Move your car or it will be towed" There's visitor parking at the end. Other than that, the place is nicely decorated, comfortable and we had a GREAT time staying there. The view to the creek and the running water is spectacular. Neighbors - not so much. We had a rather beautiful but chunky duck come up to the fence to be fed. About 5 minutes to downtown Wimberley and in a relatively quiet neighborhood. Although there was a wedding reception at the end of the street that got pretty loud. I would stay there again, bring my own corkscrew and watch were I park. I hope they fix the downstairs bathroom
Modern, clean, nicely furnished. Management was easy to work with . Pet friendly too!
I wasn't quite sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised at how nice our accommodations were! The house was furnished nicely, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen supplies stocked well, the "creek" was larger than we expected, & the area was beautiful. Wimberley is a quaint little town with lots to do. They are trying to recover from the devastating flooding in 2015. We loved the house, the area, & will definitely come back when time allows.
This was a great place for a Wimberley family vacation. It is nice and clean, great location, great price, the kids loved it. It is set in a condo community, but a very small one. There is not traffic or general busyness going on. It is peaceful and quiet. A couple items to note: When you park and walk in, you are actually walking into bedroom #3. That was not a problem for us, as the two teen boys loved staying there. But it was a surprise when we arrived. We really liked how separate the bedrooms were (and with own bathroom). Everyone was together, but we never felt crowded (it's bigger than it looks). I liked the sitting area in the MBR with a great view of the river. The only downside was some of the pots & pans were pretty old and burned on the bottom. This gets 4 stars instead of 5 not because anything was wrong. It just isn't a high-end place. Then again, look at the price you are paying - every other place we have stayed in Wimberley was way more expensive. I would definitely come back, and would recommend for families with children or several couples traveling together.
This property is only 4.5 miles from the Wimberley town square. Wimberley is situated ideally between Austin to the north and San Antonio to the south. Regardless from which direction you arrive, Wimberley is the first place where the terrain markedly changes. The second you arrive in this valley, you instantly realize that you are in the Hill Country. Its location is the essence of the atmosphere that permeates this community. One moment you are driving on a plateau, and suddenly you drop into this beautiful, idyllic little valley where Wimberley is nestled.
Canyon Lake is one of the four premier lakes in Texas. What makes it such a coveted place to enjoy is how it is nestled in the Texas Hill Country, giving it a certain beauty that is all its own. Canyon Lake is only a 30-minute drive from downtown Wimberley.
There are a lot of "must sees" in the area, but here are some of our personal suggestions...
1. Blue Hole is frequently ranked as one of the “10 best Swimming Holes in Texas,” by travel magazines and respected publications like “Texas Monthly,”
2. Jacob’s Well is among the most unique perpetual artesian springs in the world.
3. Wimberley is the Zipline. Participants fasten themselves into a safety harness, complete with protective gear, and the fly 2,600 feet across some of the most beautiful terrain in Texas.
4. Corral Theatre. This unique, small town movie-going experience has been America’s only walk-in, sit-down outdoor movie theatre since 1948. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night during the summer, the Corral offers a slate of first run movies for the entire family.
5. And a long list of vineyards including but not limited to Mandola's Estate Winery, Wimberley Valley Winery, The Bella Vista Ranch, and Driftwood Vineyards.
