Above all else, this cottage has the WOW factor that will blow you away!

Treasure Point is a spectacular custom-built log home set on beautiful Chandos Lake with 385' of lake frontage, tall trees, and outstanding views - including sunset views from the covered porch. This executive log home is on a double lot with 1 ½ acres of seclusion and privacy.

The cottage was a childhood dream that led to an architect's inspired design with 26' high vaulted and beamed ceilings, hickory floors, cherry cabinets, beautiful stonework and custom designed fixtures like the real wagon wheel chandelier in the dining room.

Beautifully furnished and finished with over 2,000 sq. ft. on the main floor and 4,500 sq. ft. total under roof, this home can be your personal retreat away from the city. The living areas and three bedrooms are on the main level with a fourth spectacular bedroom in the loft area overlooking the living room and lake, while showcasing the hand carved log structures.

Walking into the cottage for the first time is an awe inspiring experience for everyone. The massive size of the logs, posts and beams are not immediately apparent in photos, but are brought to life when you stand next to them and look up. Views of the water are seen through the huge lakefront picture windows (16’ wide by 20’ tall) in the living room. The centerpiece of the living room is the 14’ tall stone fireplace, complete with accent lighting for dramatic evening viewing.

The kitchen and dining rooms are located off the living room and include expansive cherry cabinets, a 6-burner gas/convection antique replica stove, an island and a huge dining table 9 ½’ long. All kitchen appliances, pots, pans, utensils and miscellaneous tools are new and ready to use.

A lovely 400 sq. ft. covered porch off the kitchen overlooks the lake as well as our secluded private point. A second deck, larger than the first overlooks the lake and dock. A third smaller covered porch greets visitors at the main entrance with a stone pathway to the driveway.

There is also an unfinished basement with a walk-out to the lake. The satellite TV and DVD player are in the basement, along with comfortable sofas and coffee table.

Our dock is ready to swim from or lounge on. The U-shaped dock is 28’ x 30’ with a large slip for your boat. There is an angled ladder that makes exiting easy for everyone. The water is approximately 6’ deep off the end of the dock and has a soft sandy bottom. We include a canoe, paddleboat and kayak for your exploring (you will need to furnish your own PFDs for sizing and safety reasons).

Live in 'rustic luxury' with all of the modern amenities. Our family also has a 50 acre animal sanctuary behind the cottage with resident deer, elk and the occasional moose.

Approximately 10 minutes to Apsley.

About Tim Nugent

My dad built a log cottage in the late '60s nearby, and as a youth I hiked through the woods and swam in the lake dreaming of my own log home.

My family and I realized our dream and have designed and built our own spectacular log home on the lake. As a Professional Engineer, I had a pretty good 'design eye', but we still hired an architect to ensure that the building was proportional and would work properly.

Now we're inviting you to come up and relax on our wonderful point of land.

Tim Nugent purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Tim Nugent chose Ontario

Chandos Lake is a large spring-fed lake filled with bass, trout, walleye, pike and perch located about 2 hours northeast of Toronto. It's the greatest place on earth (in the summer)!

What makes this cottage unique

You'll be serenaded to sleep in the evening with the calls of the loons to their mates after the sun sets on the lake. You will also be able to enjoy a morning paddle on the glass calm waters and watch beavers and herons at work catching their breakfast.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you both SO much for a wonderful stay at your beautiful cottage! We all loved it.

  • We have one full bathroom with tub and shower. We often hear initial concerns from families about sharing only one bathroom; however the reason it works so well is that unlike in the city, where everyone gets up early to go to work or school and heads immediately to the bathroom, at the cottage you'll be on 'leisure time' and your group will rise and use the bathroom at various times. We've had multi-day family reunions at the cottage with nearly 30 people and the bathroom was never an issue!

Fabulous Time Had By All

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Treasure Point with 3 generations of my family and we all had the best time there. The log cabin is absolutely breath-taking and the owners have put so much thought into the fine details of making it a home away from home. From ages 1 to 72, there was something to do for everyone and plenty of space both indoors and out to enjoy the beautiful setting that Treasure Point is situated upon. From puzzles to games, fishing and swimming, there was so much to do that we never had a boring moment. The large spaces from kitchen to dining room, outdoor porch, lakeside dock were so accommodating for our large group. Even sharing the 1 bathroom was not an issue. We thank Tim and Nancy for such a wonderful experience and would gladly go back the next chance we get. A wonderful, unforgettable time.

Simply Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

This is an absolutely stunning cottage. Very clean, kitchen a breeze to work in, and the view from the deck, master bedroom, huge dock, and point cannot be beat. We all had such a wonderful and relaxing time. There's nothing better then watching your kids come face to face with nature, learn to respect it, and be in awe of it. No electronics necessary! The owner is very conscientious, and wants to make sure everything is as it should be. Thanks for such a perfect time!

Treasure Point lives up to its billing

  • 5 of 5

My brothers and I have been vacationing together on fishing trips for over 30 years. We've stayed at many locations in New York State and Southern Ontario and I can say without question that Treasure Point is the best we've been to. The place has a wow-factor to it. It's even more impressive than it appears in the pictures. The cottage's location makes it ideal for exploring all of Chandos - which is far-and-away one of the prettiest lakes that we've been to. If you choose to stay there be sure to catch a sunset or two out on the point. If the weather conditions are right they can be spectacular.

Tim was great to deal with and he was very responsive to any questions that we had. He really puts a lot of effort into making sure that nothing is left to chance.

This was our first time at Treasure Point and we will definitely consider it for future trips.

Dream Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My family and I vacationed at Treasure Point this summer and we all had a blast. Every summer we rent a cottage in various locations in Ontario and this one was by far the best. We took advantage of everything this cottage had to offer, whether it being kayaking, canoeing, fishing or just simply sitting on the massive dock enjoying the view. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable. Walking into the cottage it takes your breath away it really is something to see. We also rented a boat from a nearby marina where we explored the lake and went for our evening ice cream, yummy. The owner of the cottage was in contact with us to make sure everything was to our liking. We will definitely go back.
