WOW!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! This house is AMAZING. The house is a charming spanish style house with artifact from all over the world. I had to take a good hour to look at all the amazing pieces. Byrnadette's assistant was so sweet! She greeted me and my family upon arrival and helped us in. She was very through with all of the instructions and where everything was. We did end up having a few questions during our stay and both Byrnadette and her assistant rapidly responded, this was very appreciated! They provided propane tanks for us to bbq our hamburgers and hotdogs with which was so convenient. The house was clean, the beds and linens were fresh, and it was perfect.

It was steps from the sand which was a HUGE plus for me and my husband who like to go on morning walks. There were a lot of cool restaurants within walking and biking distance. I was so thankful when I was told there was bikes, I was finally able to enjoy a bike ride on the beach bike path without having to worry about when to take the bike back.

This house is just so beautiful and a such a great deal when it comes to our large family of 8. Getting a hotel would've been astronomically pricey. Everyone could move around and sleep comfortably which rarely happens.

Thank you all so much, I cant wait to come back!!

Great Disappointment.

  • 1 of 5

First, the young lady that met us and let us in was wonderful and tried to be as helpful as she could. The house was not clean, had to wear shoes in the kitchen to keep our feet clean. Other areas need to be swept. There were constant little black flies around the kitchen sink similar to fruit flies. We had to keep food covered or in the fridge at all times. Yuck! My husband spent two hours cleaning the outdoor grill before we could cook on it.

Additionally, the dinning "room" was a joke. We ate in turns or on our laps. The table has cracks Where we could see crumbs???

The Master Bath left a lot to be desired; wash basin had paint all over it. Tub has black cracks in it. The "bicycles" we're old, rusty, and undesirable in terms of safety.

One carpet on the floor in the Master Bedroom has a hole in it and is a safety hazard. Do not recommend.

Owner's Response: Hi Armanda, My housekeepers had just left hours before you came? My assistant checked the whole house. No one made me aware of a "dirty" house or "black flies". I do apologize about the grill but again no one made me or my assistant aware. We would've happily sent over our housekeepers or handyman. The dining room is not a grand dining room and there is no indication of that in the listing. You never asked how large the dining room was? The dining room sits 8? The Master Bath is all original. This is 1920's historic house. The bicycles are rusty because of the salt air and because they are kept outdoors. I get them tuned up every 6 months so I assure you they are safe. I would not provide them if not, they are also provided as a courtesy. One carpet on the floor in the Master Bedroom has a hole? Please send me pictures because I am not aware of this hole? My assistant and I were very patient with you and helped you every step of the way with your booking. No one notified us of any issues or else we would've been there immediately to fix it. This house is a great deal for the price and how many people it accommodates. I am greatly disappointed in your dishonesty and your dwelling on all of the "negative" things. Best, Byrnadette

Hard to beat this experience of Venice beach!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 had a near perfect trip to Venice Beach because of this home. The location is ideal. The bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchenware. The patio in back was great for eating in the shade. The top deck was excellent for drinks in the sun with a bit of an ocean view. The only thing to consider is that if the weather isn't nice (which it usually is in CA) it will be difficult to eat inside with a large group since there wasn't a very big dining room table. Other than that, we'd highly recommend this beautiful home.

Great Rustic Home

  • 5 of 5

This is a great rustic, home-charm house in an amazing location tucked away, yet a minute from the beach and fishing pier. You can see the beach from the upstairs balcony sitting area.

The house is filled with antiques and full of old charm and interest. It would not be for those looking for clinical glitz, glass and stainless steel as you can see from the photos but it certainly was great for us. We loved it!

We hired bikes from the lovely Javier who dropped them off and picked them up (a recommendation from Virginia who lives next door and looks after the meet and greet etc) . Really nice chap. We recommend you hire bikes to cycle the front - an approx. 12.5 mile round-trip sea coast track for bikes and runners (and of course skate boarders!). Superb!

Restaurants are great too. Its worth walking away from the sea and checking out the ones that aren't so busy. We found a great Italian which was superb food. We can recommend the Canali Café - great Italian food.

We were warned about Venice Beach and the "characters" (down and outs) around by friends however we felt that this end was absolutely fine and safe. Some of the colourful characters are great to observe and help make the atmosphere. There was never any problem or worry - just a few giggles!

The beach is wide and safe and the body boarding great - better than Hawaii according to my 13 year old! There's no pleasing some :-)

So, a great home if you like rustic, relaxed living like us. There is garage parking too which we never picked up when booking which was very handy.

All in all a great holiday and we were sad to leave.

rented Old World Spanish home

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home in early December 2011 and it was exquisite. It is a beautiful home with a great roof-top deck and very comfortable living space along with a nice backyard fire pit area. All the beds and bathrooms were in perfect shape and we had a magnificent time here. The furnishings were beautiful but all very comfortable and it felt very relaxed.

We were just a half block from the beach and pier and blocks away from Abbott Kinney Blvd and the shopping. It allowed us to enjoy a quiet retreat with our family while staying in the center of things in Venice Beach CA. The owner was very accomodating and helpful during our stay and provided us excellent service.

Gorgeous house, perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Villa Cielo over the 4th of July weekend. It was absolutely perfect for our group of 6 (my husband and I, our two small children and my parents). The location was absolutely ideal - just one block from the beach and less than one block from restaurants, coffee shops etc., yet still very private. The house is comfortable and well equipped, and the decor is lovely and charming - Spanish-influenced, classic, old-style California. The three separate outdoor areas were great as well - the upstairs terrace is large, comfortable and perfect for relaxing in the ocean breeze, and the two downstairs areas are great for outdoor dining and lounging. The pictures don't do this home justice - it is truly wonderful! Plus, you get a lot for your money - it is in the same price range as many other homes in the area with less space, worse locations, and nowhere near as much charm and character. Byrnadette and Sara were great to work with too. Fabulous stay!
