Breckenridge Condo Rental Photos and Description

3rd floor Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.25 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Delightfully sturdy 2 BR condo on the top floor (3rd) with sleeping for 6. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A WALK UP BUILDING. THERE IS NO ELEVATOR. We stayed at Gold Camp just before Christmas 2010 and enjoyed the convenient and affordable location so much that we closed on a similar unit in November 2011. We are a family business with our 33 yo son who lives in Breckenridge looking after the condo and is available in the rare instances of something going wrong.

We will be honest and state the following:

a) We are 0.4 miles from peak 8 and is a doable walk in snow board boots but the free shuttle stop to both peaks 7 and 8 is 100 yards from the condo entrance. The service is reasonably frequent.

b) The décor is dated but not gaudy and we boast an in-wall sound system complete with cassette player, so bring your old tapes! We have linked an ipod/iphone connection to the cassette player. The radio has both FM/AM and is a treat.

c) We have replaced the smaller appliances (toaster, electric kettle)

d) We replaced the stove in October 2014 but the other major appliances (fridge, microwave, and dishwasher) work fine. However, they might remind you of your mom’s kitchen when you were a kid.

e) We have replaced all the linen (sheets, pillow cases, matress protectors, and towels) and have introduced duvets. The linen is replaced on a regular basis.

f) We are on the top floor with great views, more room with the vaulted ceiling, and quieter (a lesson we learnt from our previous stay when we could hear people walking around upstairs). I don't know why others think being on a lower floor is an advantage as we use the trip up and down the stairs as part of our ski warm up and cool down.

g) It is children friendly for those above 7 years old (maybe 5) because of the railing on the patio. The door to the patio is lockable but our toddler days are, ambivalently, long behind us so we don't want families with young children looking for a relaxing holiday and yet be concerned about the patio railing. As mentioned above our middle 33 yo son works in Breck and maintains the property for us.

h) Sleeping consists of a queen bed in one room, 2 twins in the other and a long hallway between the 2 rooms for added privacy. Bathroom and vanity are off the very well. There is also a king size sofa bed in the living room.

While we provide bathroom tissue, towels etc, washing up gear, some condiments but we DO NOT SUPPLY LITTLE SOAPS NOR SHAMPOO. We are trying to keep prices down so consider these items that guests should bring themselves.

Keywords: condo, affordable, inexpensive, great location, 2 BR, sleeps 4-6, close to slopes, quiet

About Mark and Patricia Fogarty

Mid century moderns and Australian citizens who became US citizens on 12/16/11. Empty nesters (3 'boys': 32, 31 and 26), and we have been living in NYC for the last 15 years in . non Wall Street jobs.

Mark and Patricia Fogarty purchased this condo in 2011

Why Mark and Patricia Fogarty chose Breckenridge Area

Our son has worked at Breck for the last 8 years and we have bought the condo to spend more time with him. One of our IRAs was going nowhere so we liquidated it and now have an 'investment' we can use.

We like the proximity to the slopes and the relative isolation on the top floor. We are not out to make money, just cover our costs to spend more time with our son.

What makes this condo unique

While we were attracted by the winter sports, there is a saying here that people 'come for the winter but stay for the summer' and having spent a couple of summers here we know why: hiking, white water rafting, local events...beautiful

Kitchy but charming and comfortable.

We had such a great stay in Breckenridge in this condo. There was space to move around (two bedrooms) with all the amenities we needed. The living area was very clean. comfortable, and homey, and the owners were a dream to work with, including their son who made any our stay even better. Hotels in Breckenridge can be very expensive, especially over a holiday weekend. The price for three of us to stay in this condo for two nights over Labor Day was amazing. We had a great stay for my niece's wedding and would book this property again without hesitation.

Super setup for a family of 4!

  • 5 of 5

Layout was great for a family. Lots of seating at the table, a great coat rack the length of the hallway for hanging bags, coats, etc. Loved the twin beds in he second room so the kids didn't have to share a bed. We were able to just walk up to the Breck Fun Park. Dated decor was fine by us...brought back some memories!

Wonderful Breckenridge Stay

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Mark and family for a lovely stay in your retro Breckenridge apartment. We experienced great customer service from you prior to the stay and during our stay - you really made it easy for us to connect with someone when a concern was raised. The apartment was huge and was ample space for our family of four. Our young millenial kids loved the 80's style decor and thought it was "cool" - they have never seen a cassette tape recorder having music only through Spotify. The amenities were perfect and as described. Great price point and Gold camp is indeed a very convenient location to the town and gondola. We will definitely come back again.

Great condo, great location, can't beat the price

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this condo! It is in a very convenient location and very easy to get to Peaks 7 and 8. The decor is a bit dated, as the owner has described, but we thought it was quite charming, and the condo and amenities are in great condition, we had everything we needed. The space is very comfortable for 4 people, and I think 6 would definitely be fine too. The owner is very easy to work with and the rate is so reasonable, I would definitely stay here again for my next visit.

Great time in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. Our party consisted of myself, my husband, my brother, his wife, and my adult daughter. The condo was comfortable and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the bountiful hummingbirds that flew up to the deck to enjoy a cup of nectar we placed out for them. It was also nice to have use of the grill. The location was convenient to the trailhead for the Peaks Trail, close to the bike trails, and to the alpine slide (which we really enjoyed). We thoroughly enjoyed walking downtown and back and having the free bus system available. Once we got there, we parked our car until it was time to leave. Mark was very helpful and easy to work with. We will definitely consider staying again next time we venture to Colorado.

Great affordable condo

  • 5 of 5

Finding a place to stay in between Christmas and New Year's in Breckenridge that didn't break our budget wasn't easy, but after the fact, we are ecstatic to have found this unit. Mark was easily accessible through email (or phone if needed) prior to our arrival and during our stay. I think he overstates the "dated-ness" of the unit. To me and my family, which included our 2 sons aged 2 1/2 and 1 and my mother-in-law, it was rustic and charming. I assume the mention of the unit not being so friendly to younger kids was due to the gas fireplace, as it got very hot. We easily got around this by creating a barrier with chairs so the kids couldn't walk/crawl to it, and it worked fine.

As advertised, the free bus to the slopes was an easy walk, and on the way back from Peak 8, ours was the first stop (it does go to Peak 7 first on the way to the slopes, adding an extra 5 minutes at most to the commute).

The third floor location of the unit provided extra light with the vaulted ceilings and sky lights, and the stairs, even with luggage and young kids who needed to be carried, wasn't a big deal. All appliances worked fine, and in a two night stay we managed to cook breakfasts both mornings and grilled steaks one night.

The only downside which was no fault of Mark's was that the hot tub, just a few steps away, was out of order. Or at least we assumed it was as the swipe card didn't work, which when we looked in and saw the tub in a bit of dissaray, we chalked up to the swipe card reader being disabled as the tub was out of order. Oh well. I assumed there were others in the complex but the walk then would have been unbearable in the cold so we went without the hot soak after skiing. We survived.

All in all a great stay, and we look forward to staying at the unit again.

Should you ever tire of skiing/snowboarding in Breck there are other resorts nearby such as A Basin, Keystone within 10 to 15 mins. Further afield are Vail, Beaver Creek and Copper Mountain.

As well as being a great ski/snowboard resort, Breckenridge is also an old gold mining town and has an informative museum and some of the original mining cottages survive as well as the dredges used to mine gold. Spot the commercial dredge now used as a restaurant. Also nearby are other old mining towns (e.g. Fairway) and gold panning opportunities as well.
