Why Joe V. chose Thousand Islands

Our family has vacationed in the 100 island region for over 40 years and we just purchased this vacation home in 2014. We are very excited abut it for numerous reasons. The area views are breathtaking, fishing is incredible and time with our family is precious. Whatever your activity is to fish, tour the region or just relax, this is a true family vacation.

What makes this cottage unique

There are many benefits to staying in this cottage. The #1 benefit is the breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River. But the river is much more than a view it is for swimming, fishing, boating and water sports. This rental has a dock included and just down the street there is a boat ramp. The cottage offers heat, a/c, full kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Very clean house. Large bedrooms. Nice kitchen. Great large wrap around deck with beautiful views of the river. A couple of overgrown trees next to the deck should be removed to improve the view from the deck.

We would definitely rent again

Great first visit to The Thousand Islands!

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed our 4 day stay at this property. This was our first visit to The Thousand Islands and we will certainly return for another stay! . We were greeted by Carmen and MaryLou. They were very friendly and spent time making sure we were taken care of. We enjoyed the convenience of docking our boat at the site. We were originally concerned with sharing the front area/fire pit with the residents of the mobile park, but found we enjoyed their company. We absolutely loved watching the large ships travel up and down the river...especially at night when they were lit up. We loved the home. The house was clean and very comfortable. We cooked our meals at the house and found the kitchen had everything we needed. The sun room was perfect for morning coffee while reading a book. We toured Boldt Castle which is just a few minutes away. We also drove our boat to Grindstone Island where we anchored our boat at Potter's Beach and walked on the island. Joe V answered our questions by e-mail within hours.

My husband and 2 adult children and myself would certainly stay here again!

Fantastic time in the Thousand Islands

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this great property. The house is nicely furnished and is in a superb location. We watched many sunsets from the front porch, spent hours sitting on the dock and swimming in the river (just a few steps from the front door) and docked our boat right there. There was room on the front yard for a game of frisbee or catch and in the driveway for our 3 cars to park. The air conditioning was a HUGE bonus since we had a 90 degree week! We were initially hesitant to book this rental due to the fact that there was a large mobile home park just behind the house. However, it is an extremely well kept park, the residents were very friendly and we had no issues w/foot traffic in the yard nor did we feel that we had any lack of privacy at any time. We travelled w/2 adults, 3 teenagers and had a few short term guests (friends of our older teens) who stayed a day or two and we always had enough room. The owner was easy to communicate with through email and the information provided on VRBO was completely accurate. I would recommend this rental to families or adult couples. Great spot!

Great place for a multi-generational gathering

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here July 2-9, 2016. I had 2 nephews ages 8 and 11, my 19 yr old daughter and my brother. My 84 year old father and mother came up every day from Watertown, NY. This was a great setup because my dad could sit on the HUGE deck and watch the kids play in the water and kayak back and forth and fish from the dock.

The home was very clean. There are no photos of the kitchen or dining area. The kitchen and dining area are open to the living room, so you can see the water while you are preparing dinner and sitting at the dinner table.

The kitchen was very nice -- a U shape with the sink at the bottom of the U, with a window that overlooks the screen porch. The stove and the refrigerator are to the left of the sink, and the right-hand part of the U is a nice, long peninsula counter-- you can stand at it and prepare food and see the water.

We cooked all our meals at the home. The kitchen was adequately stocked. It was missing some paring knives and a can opener, but the caretaker Camen brought them to us immediately. They provided plenty of towels. They were white, which is fine, but I am glad I brought beach towels that we used simply because I did't want to stain their nice towels by using them outside on the dirt/rocks.

The boys has a great time swimming and snorkeling - the water is clean and clear. We swam off the first dock, which now has a great swim ladder that you don't see in the photos. We also had several kayaks there and there was plenty of room to pull them up onto the shore.

We spent several evenings sitting with some of the locals around the fire pit. Everyone was very friendly. They helped us build a fire and find marshmallow sticks. We were there over 4th of July and I thought it might be very active, but it was still pretty quiet - we did not have that many people walking to the docks in front of us. All in all it was a fabulous week!

We recently rented for a long weekend with our 4 adult children and two of their spouses ~ it was fabulous. The property managers were prompt in meeting us at the front and tail end of the rental. They were helpful with golf and dinner suggestions. We also met a few folks from "the park" ~ everyone is friendly and we felt right at home. The rental itself was very clean; most linens seemed brand new and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed (though we only made breakfast one morning!). The location is close to all we wanted to explore (Clayton, A-Bay, and Sackett's Harbor). Our view was beautiful; we enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck and afternoon swimming in the river off the dock. I would absolutely recommend this property. Clayton is charming!!

First renters of this waterfront home

  • 5 of 5

As frequent VRBO renters we are always a bit stressed until we see a property for the first time. We were extremely pleased with this home and it exceeded our expectations! We had 6 adults (2 parents and 4 adult kids in their early 20's) in this house for the week. Everything was great and it was extremely comfortable! Well stocked kitchen, modern and clean bathrooms, comfy furniture and beds. There were plenty of chairs on the huge deck. We especially enjoyed the awesome waterfront sitting area with a fire pit! Although this is shared space we were the only ones there every night. The owner was in constant communication to be sure everything was ok for our stay since we were the first renters. The property manager arrived and fixed a minor issue 5 minutes after our call and even dropped off some items the next day after we told him about a few things still needed in the kitchen. Paper products, garbage bags and soaps were included and the bath towels, rugs and shower curtains were all brand new.The view of the river is >180 degrees from the deck or huge windows all across the LR. Since the house boarders woods on one side it was extremely quiet and peaceful! The boys were able to swim in the river from the dock with ladder. The property manager has done a great job of keeping the geese from coming on the property. We would not hesitate to rent this home again and hope to do so again very soon!
