About Erica K.

An entrepreneur by nature, I have enjoyed the freedom and flexibility that a self directed path can provide. I have loved to travel and annually embark upon both a beach vacation and an exotic destination in a far away continent - you will find exotic mementos from my travels adorn Villa Blanca and inspire the eclectic sampling of the world within. I was born in Villa Blanca Tortuga, and Grew up in Tucson in this very property, I wanted to name my special bungalow property to honor my connection to my mother, my family and the heritage of the house, hence the name Villa Blanca which means white house - where my friends said I lived as a kid. While home in Tucson, I love to landscape, You will see me working on my properties tending to the mesquite trees, Peruvian apple cactus a native willow or assisting guests at Villa Blanca and other homes. I have always enjoyed cooking - entertaining friends and family and hosting many social events, and look forward to hosting you during your stay in Tucson!

Erica K. purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Erica K. chose Tucson

My parents were renting Villa Blanca Tortuga, the carriage house in the 1960's while attending the University of Arizona. When I was one year old my parents Read an ad in the paper, where the original owners of Villa Blanca - had listed the entire property for sale - it turned out to be my parents landlords - who enjoyed the young couple so - and sold it to my parents over another buyer. With the assistance of my Grandmother for a down payment, My mother and father moved to the front house and raised us girls - in College I too lived in the Carriage house, and my sister also lived high above it all 'upstairs'. In 2010 Villa Blanca passed through the generations from my grandmother, mother and sister to my self - for me to share with you as Villa Blanca Tortuga .

What makes this cottage unique

I love Villa Blanca Tortuga with all of my heart - it is a beautiful lofty home full of warmth, Joy and truly does hold many wonderful memories in life - good times with friends - walking or bicycling to the University of Arizona - having breakfast at Rincon market, creating independence as an adult - Fantastic dinners on the Patio. In this space, the lofty views can't be beat and the special Stained Glass windows - I did in college are pretty special too... Now it's your turn to make some memories and experience the warmth and love of a family carriage home known as Villa Blanca Tortuga .

average rating of 4.9 based on 10 reviews

Villa Blanca Tortuga was just right for our two-month exploration of Tucson!

  • 5 of 5

The location was perfect: a quiet residential neighborhood that was fun to stroll within walking distance of the beautiful University of Arizona campus and an excellent pizza place (Grimaldi's) with a wonderful gelato shop next door. Erica provided us with a 4-page list of restaurant options with her personal comments, passes to the gem and mineral show, and often e-mailed or texted other tips on things to see and do. She responded very quickly to our few minor concerns and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. We had our own washer and dryer (a real plus for us) as well as a kitchen with every tool, dish and small appliance we could need and a great supply of bath and bed linens. Erica is friendly and fun, and Villa Blanca Tortuga reflects that; it is unique, comfy AND reasonably priced. We hope we will be back!

Oasis in the desert

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this property was like a little peace of heaven away from home. Whenever we come to Tucson we love visiting family but it can be a little hectic at times. Having this peaceful little apartment to come home to was so nice. It was relatively quiet, the furnishings were so warm and inviting, and the king-sized bed was amazing, the best sleep I've had in ages. The best part was having drinks and relaxing on the quaint little terrace. The beautiful and historic Sam Hughes neighborhood was close to the freeway which made getting around town a breeze. The owner, Erika, was a dream to work with, her attention to detail and friendly personality made us feel right at home. We will definitely be staying here again - Vanessa & Phil

Clean, Convenient, Charming, Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This was as advertised in every way. Excellent base for golfing and hiking and getting to know Tucson. Owner very helpful during rental process and afterwards with lots of info and guidance for dining, activities, etc. Checkin was easy with the cleaning person showing us around and ready to deal with any issues (there weren't any). We'd definitely stay here again.
