A great spot to just relax and enjoy the view. Our renters agree that the photographs don't do it justice. A large great room has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the bay, and has a stone fireplace so you can watch the sunset or sit by the fire. The kitchen is very well appointed and includes just about everything the chef desires except the food. There is a full laundry room with a washer and a dryer. No need to waste hours at the laundromat. The rec room includes a ping pong table, games, video tapes, and satellite TV as well as a cozy stone fireplace and a seating area to relax and enjoy the fire or the spectacular view of Frenchman Bay. The children's bedroom is furnished with a full/twin bunk bed, a toddler bed, and a Pack n Play. In addition there are two beautifully furnished bedrooms with queen-size beds. There is a queen size sofa bed in the great room, another in the rec room, and two comfortable inflatable beds which each sleep two adults.
The home is located about 35 minutes from Bar Harbor, the hub of activities on Mount Desert Island and gateway to Acadia National Park. Bar Harbor offers dozens of restaurants and shops and also kayak and bike rentals.
Hikers who prefer less crowded trails will find that nearby Black Mountain and Schoodic Mountain offer gorgeous panoramic vistas of lakes, ponds, Frenchman Bay, and the Porcupine Islands without the large numbers of hikers found on the better known trails of Acadia.
Winter Harbor, just 5 minutes away, offers galleries, shops and dining, all located in a quaint lobstering village with a picturesque town harbor and dock. A passenger ferry runs numerous trips daily from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor. Lobster pounds abound, and two are located within a couple of miles of the house. Swim and fish at nearby Jones Pond or Donnell Pond at the foot of Schoodic Mountain. Kayaks can be rented in nearby Birch Harbor and kayak tours can also be arranged.
The entrance to the Schoodic Section of Acadia National Park is a few minutes from the house by car or bike, and is a beautiful 'secret' spot which is visited by only a few of the thousands of visitors to Acadia.

Beautiful and relaxing!
This property is gorgeous and has everything we needed to make our family vacation a fun, relaxing and memorable one. We enjoyed spending time on the shoreline along the back of the property, hiking the numerous trails at nearby Schoodic Peninsula and the beautiful drive into Bar Harbor. We found something different to do every day and our 3 boys (ages 14, 11 & 6) did not want to leave after 2 weeks! The house is equipped with everything that we needed for our stay, including a lobster pot which we put to good use steaming lobster for the first time. The ping pong table in the basement was awesome entertainment for the boys. There is ample space for guests to sleep and to just hang out. Rich Krasner was very welcoming and easy to communicate with about any questions we had. Definitely a great find!!
Thank you, we're glad you enjoyed your stay. It's very gratifying to know our guests had a great time.
Beauty inside and out
Spent a week in this beautiful, comfortable, surrounded by nature home. The home is packed full of all amenities, including two types of coffee makers! We enjoyed sitting out on the deck, a bit of ping pong competition and venturing out to enjoy the amazing area. Rich was great to work with, especially when we needed to reschedule due to Hurricane Irma. Pondering a family vacation here in the future.
Relaxing and Peaceful
We spent a week at this wonderful home on the edge of the water and enjoyed hours of sitting on the rocky beach watching the water, birds (including bald egles), Lobster boats and sunsets. Amazing! And ther's so much to do in the area, from walking, hiking, water activities, fishing, art galleries, etc.
The home is very comfortable and had all we needed. The single suggestion would be to upgrade the internet service to allow for better connections when more than one person is trying go online but, hey---
that' s really not why we chose to be here. Overall a wonderful visit --easily earns 5 stars---thank you!
The home is new and well-appointed. It is a ferry ride (45 minutes or so) to Acadia/Bar Harbor-the drive took about the same time. The closer Schoodic peninsula portion of Acadia is perhaps ten minutes away and well worth it. Its much less crowded and Schoodic point is stunning.
If you are looking for a comfortable home, peaceful surroundings, daily visits from a bald eagle and a great vantage point to observe some lobster boats this is it. Also there is a gorgeous view from the water's edge as the sun sets.
We loved Winter Harbor and visited many local restaurants. Spent an afternoon and evening in Bar Harbor. My only advice is be cognizant that to sleep 10 you will need to utilize a pull out couch or air mattress. It worked fine for our group-our teenagers and my brother-in-law can sleep anywhere.
Beautiful House with gorgeous views!!
Thank you, Thank you!! Your home is Gorgeous, spacious, well equipped, well decorated (which we all loved) and just the perfect location! Everything was clean and inviting! Just what was needed! There was plenty of deck time enjoying the view and watching the hummingbirds (which were very active)! Enjoyed watching the sunset down on the shoreline along the back of the property! There was plenty of things to do - watching sunrises & sunsets, kayaking, fishing, plenty of hiking, whale watching trip (no whales but enjoyable), ferry ride, lumber jack lessons at Timber Tina's, shopping and sightseeing at Bar Harbor & Winter Harbor, and lastly having plenty of lobster rolls & ice cream! Night time was spent relaxing and enjoying the house with reading, games and puzzle time with the family! We had a fantastic week that flew by and we were sad to leave your home. We hope to be back one day!
A week wasn't enough...
This house was the perfect retreat for our family. With four teenagers and two active toddlers there was more than enough space and plenty of things to keep everyone entertained (ping pong, board games, cards, books, walks on the beach). The area was also incredibly beautiful with so much to do. We went on a ferry boat trip to Bar Harbor, enjoyed a sunset whale watch, hiked Acadia National Park, and enjoyed the local shops and restaurants. We also spent a couple of days just relaxing in this gorgeous and comfortable house, drinking coffee and reading on the deck. The layout of the house was perfect for us - a main floor master and living area and a second living and game area downstairs with two bedrooms for the kids. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook several large meals. The onsite washer and dryer were a must with our large family. We would definitely recommend this home to families with children of all ages. It was perfect. I wish we could have stayed another week!
Located in Summer Harbor, just off the Schoodic National Scenic Byway on the Beautiful Schoodic Peninsula. A quiet, peaceful getaway offering breathtaking views of Frenchman Bay and five islands, just minutes from Bar Harbor by car or ferry. You can drive, bike, or hike the few miles to the Schoodic Section of Acadia National Park. The Schoodic Loop Road offers spectacular views of Winter Harbor, The Bay, And the rugged, rocky coast of the North Atlantic.
