We loved our stay at Randy's beautiful home! Randy was easy to reach and helpful during our trip (and provided some great restaurant recommendations). He left a highchair out for my 1 year old, which was very thoughtful. The home is beautiful, we barely wanted to leave to go outdoors! The neighborhood is quiet and quaint. One small thing was the lack of curtains/blinds in all the rooms. Makes for some beautiful sunshine in the house, but it would have been great to be able to sleep in if there was a way to darken the rooms. But, that's a tiny negative for an otherwise fantastic stay -We'd love to stay here again!!
Secluded home, short distance to great attractions, Freeport, Portland Long Wharf, and downtown area.
Home was clean and offered vintage bikes, great deck to sit out on and enjoy a glass of wine.
Weather warmed up a bit, could have used AC, just had fans.
Updated kitchen/baths were great: propane range, rainforest shower head, double vanities, and plenty of natural light.
Owner very responsive and helpful with ideas for places to go.
Enjoyed our time!
Property was well maintained. Very clean. Responsive owner. Good location for launching
Into day trips. Excellent restaurants in area. Recommend getting TV service or indicate it
is not available upfront. Nice setting. Well equipped kitchen. Could use a bit more seating
In common living areas. Great beds and linens. Would increase towel allocation. Open, airy
home with great "clean" windows! Impeccably kept home! Could not find "short walk to water" talked about. Park and trail about a half mile away....was nice. Enjoyed beautiful fall colors!
We had a wonderful time staying 3 nights in this home - we weren't ready to leave! The home was beautifully remodeled and very comfortable - the extra bedroom with the crib for our son was a great surprise and suited our family very well! This home is within easy distance to visit Portland and Freeport, but it's situated enough outside of the hustle and bustle of those cities that you get to experience the natural beauty of main. There are plenty of delicious restaurants in the area to enjoy too. The owners were very responsive with any questions that we had prior to staying as well. Highly recommended, would definitely stay again when in the area!
My family stayed at Randy's home in Sept 2016. The house was extremely clean and welcomed us with a phone call, bottle of wine & chocolate. There was plenty of room for my husband & I, our three children, and my in-laws. Plenty of space to spread out and not be in each others way. The kitchen was beautiful and had everything we needed. There were nice linens on all the beds & fresh towels in the bathrooms. The crib in the baby's room was also freshly made. The master bathroom was very luxurious with a large rain-head shower. My children loved playing with all the toys and watching movies. We were unable to find the pathway access to the tidal front, but we did not look that hard. Unlike other reviews, we found that the house had window coverings in all the bedrooms, except the upstairs guest room. So sunlight in the morning was not an issue for us. Also there was enough space in the house for our belongings. The house was nearby to Portland and all the other places we needed to go for a family wedding. Overall, a fantastic place to stay.
We rented this lovely home for 8 days, as a home away from home during our daughter's wedding weekend, with days before and after. It was a perfect place for the bride and her attendants to get ready, and a perfect place for us to receive out of town visitors who were staying in nearby hotels. The location was ideal for accessing our wedding venue, Portland, Freeport, and for exploring the Casco Bay area and beyond. We were surprised though at how little room was made for us to store our belongings. Most of the closet space, drawer space, and kitchen cabinet space was full of the owners' personal belongings, and unlike all other rentals we've stayed in all over the world, the house did not feel set up for renters. Evolve, the rental management company, was rigid and unwelcoming. However, the owner himself was the opposite- friendly, welcoming, and very accommodating. So, while the house ended up being more than comfortable, there were many negatives. There were also no instructions on how to use things in the house, nor where to find things that we needed (like garbage bags, vacuum, etc)- there wasn't a single hand towel- we had to use washcloths or bath towels instead. I'd recommend that the house be made more amenable and accommodating for renters, or reserved just for the owners. Also, even though the house is advertised to be on 2 Tidal Front acres, there were no instructions on how to find the tidal front. When we found it, it was pretty muddy and not much of a selling point.
House was spotless, with very nice kitchen and baths. Our family of 4 had plenty of space. No AC, which wasn't a problem for us as we got lucky with the weather but it could be warm inside if you get a hot spell. I agree with a previous reviewer that the lack of window treatments make for early mornings and the lack of shelf/closet/drawer space made it tough to unpack.
