The best thing about the apartment is the convenient location. Walk Score of 93! The apartment is on a residential street but blocks away are great restaurants and shopping. Wicker Park/Bucktown is known for its restaurant, nightlife & eclectic shopping. Our neighborhood contains many Michelin recommended restaurants.

We're thrilled about the opening of the Bloomingdale Trail in June 2015. The trail is a linear park with a 3-mile biking, walking, running and blading trail. One of the entrances to the trail is at the end of our block! The trail has entrances about every .25 miles and lets you travel to other neighboring areas while avoiding car traffic. Great for the fitness enthusiast.

We will provide a guide to all the neighborhood has to offer and take-out menus for all the great restaurants.

One of Chicago's creative epicenters lies just west of downtown Chicago in Wicker Park and Bucktown. These synonymous neighborhoods are famous for unparalleled boutique shopping, esoteric bookstores, and their countless art galleries — many housed within the Flat Iron Arts Building. If you have an acute knowledge of craft cocktails and an affinity for independent clothing designers, there's no better area to sip and shop in the country.

The area has recently become a prevailing influence on Chicago's Michelin-rated dining scene, boasting some of city's most sought after restaurants, including Xoco and Big Star. Wicker Park and Bucktown are also known for their palate pleasing nightcaps, like renowned brewery and pizzeria, Piece and mixology tour de force Violet Hour.

The neighborhood's most enduring quality is its shopping. Along North, Milwaukee and Damen Avenue, you will find an unbelievable mix of vintage shops amid independently-owned boutiques touting fashions for both men and women. On the same blocks are nationally-recognized designers, fashion industry behemoths, and major retailers.

About Alyssa Lee

My husband and I own this 3 unit flat, we live on the first floor, rent the 3rd floor to a great tenant. The 2nd floor is primarily used for our friends and family when they visit but when it's empty we love to share it with other travelers.

The apartment is completely separate from the other units, but we're near by should you have any issues or just want to know which of the many cafes are the best in the neighborhood.

Come enjoy all that Chicago has to offer with us!

Great Little Chicago Apartment

  • 5 of 5

We rented this apartment for a one week Spring Break adventure in Chicago with 2 adults and 2 teens. The apartment is a short walk to the L, and served as a great home base as we explored the city. It's located on a quiet street with ample parking in the Bucktown neighborhood. Convenient to everything.

Both bedrooms are small, but we weren't there to lounge in bed all day. Beds were comfortable. The kitchen has full sized appliances and you can easily cook as often as you want. Nice sitting room area. All 4 of us were able to watch TV at the end of a day of exploring the city. Our only complaint was no cable TV. They have Amazon Fire for TV. Had some issues watching the March Madness Basketball games and missed a few other channels. We weren't there to watch TV, so we made do.

This is a cozy place to stay, situated real close to good food and grocery. We were a five minute walk from the “L” line which was real nice.

Fabulous location and home

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Alyssa’s place was amazing! The location is a block from the L and easily walkable to restaurants and coffee shops. It’s about a 10 minute L ride to downtown. The home itself is beautiful. We especially loved the couch :) The bedrooms are small but functional, but we weren’t home much for a need for them to be any bigger. I would definitely stay here again!

great apartment in fun neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Spacious and beautifully appointed with everything you need for your stay in Chicago. Parking was plentiful and stores and restaurants are in easy walking distance. The neighborhood felt very safe and had the added bonus of the nearby trail to walk/ride on. The CTA is very close although we walked into Chicago to the Hull House Museum without any problem. Other reviewers have talked about the noise of the trains but we certainly did not notice it in the bedrooms. Would definitely stay here again.

Great apartment with wonderful access to all of Chicago!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was very clean and cozy! It had everything we needed! Since were were only there for the weekend we didn't cook or eat in but it was well set up to do so. There is a great coffee shop nearby so our coffee drinkers opted for that but there was a coffee maker. The owners were very responsive in the planning, provided great communication before and during our stay, and even greeted us upon our arrival. Overall a great experience! Highly recommend!

Car: not necessary

1 block away is the Blue Line to O’Hare & the Loop, Zipcar, Enterprise & Divvy Bike rental. Centrally located in Wicker Park/Bucktown, known for its night life & eclectic shopping.

June 6 was the grand opening of the Bloomingdale Trail, a multi-use linear park that will be the first of its kind in Chicago. The trail and park runs along an unused, elevated rail line along Bloomingdale Avenue. Stretching 2.7 miles through four vibrant Chicago northwest side neighborhoods.

Swanky nightclubs, upscale restaurants, and nationally- recognizable specialty clothing stores like American Apparel have transformed Wicker Park into arguably Chicago’s trendiest neighborhood. Many musicians and starving artists who once flocked to Wicker Park have since relocated to more affordable parts of town, but remnants of its history as an artist’s haven remain.

The contrast between Wicker Park’s charming original buildings and the establishments that occupy them are noticeable. A Potbelly Sandwich Works (1623 N. Damen) in an old fire house, Zen Noodles & Sushi (1852 W. North) in a vintage brick two-flat. While the fusion is anything but seamless, the availability of any and every cuisine, shop, and service gives the whole neighborhood a never-sleeps, almost Manhattan-like bustle.

Wicker Park may have traded traditional for trendy, but Bucktown remains true to its roots as a working class community with affordable residences that appeal to less affluent artists and young professionals. Thought to have been named Bucktown for its time as a goat-farming community (a “buck” is a young male goat), this growing neighborhood was initially settled by Poles in the early 1830s. Germans, Jews, and Latin Americans would soon follow, lending to the overwhelming appreciation for diversity evident in Bucktown today.
