OSPREY HOUSE

Osprey House, an exclusive water-view escape on St. Margaret's Bay, Canada's favourite coastal Nova Scotia destination, is an absolute pleasure. Private and enchanting, Osprey House is furnished with antique Mission oak (Arts and Crafts) furniture and has a large deck with a hot tub overlooking Whynacht's Cove. With Canadian art prints and art books, hardwood floors, wine bar area with wine fridge, stereo system and wi-fi, fireplace, 2 1/2 baths and 3 private sleeping areas, Osprey House offers a sophisticated retreat that is ideal for 1 to 3 couples as well as individual adult guests seeking an enchanted getaway by the sea.

The main floor has a wonderful lay-out for guests to spend time together. The living room offers an inclusive seating area in front of the fireplace with the wine bar and kitchen only steps away. The latter has a propane Jenn-Air range, ice maker, dishwasher, microwave, granite counter tops and Paderno pots and pans. The dining room has a large dining room table and exquisite lighting for intimate dinner parties.

Upstairs, the master bedroom at Osprey House has an amazing view of the salt water and is almost an apartment in its own right. With a king-sized bed, huge walk-in closet and en suite bath with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower, this area offers great privacy. The upstairs guest room is also very private with the same water view as the master, a walk-in closet and a full bath with jacuzzi tub and separate shower.

Downstairs, there is an expansive entertainment room with a large flat-screen TV and DVD. There is also a downstairs sleeping area with a queen-sized chiropractic bed (very firm) and a 1/2 bath at the top of the stairs. The laundry room is on the main floor.

With well-kept gardens, landscape and deck lighting, adirondack chairs, BBQ, large outdoor table and a six-person hot tub on the deck, guests can enjoy the out of doors while overlooking Whynacht's Cove in a completely private environment.

Whynacht's Point is one of several peninsulas jutting out into St. Margaret's Bay and is known as an extraordinary boating area. Surrounded by salt water, it is widely recognized as a micro-climate that seems to defy fog. Deer, fox and pheasants share "The Point" with osprey, eagles and Great Blue Heron, all of which are often seen from Osprey House. Canoeists and kayakers have water access at the bottom of the lane while Whynacht's Point Road leading to Osprey House offers guests a peaceful half-hour stroll along the shore.

The area around Whynacht's Point is surrounded by spectacular beaches, historic towns, fine dining, galleries, craft and antique stores. The St. Margaret's Bay cycling / walking Trail is only minutes away and all amenities (grocery stores, gas stations banks, drug stores, liquor store, etc.) are less than a ten minute drive from Osprey House. Guests can also walk to the White Sails Bakery and Deli in ten minutes or so, recently included in "Where to Eat in Canada," where tourtiere, angus burgers, montreal-smoked meat, fish chowder, croissants and sugar pies may be found in abundance.

Osprey House is 15 minutes from sandy beaches, 20 minutes from world famous Peggy's Cove, 30 minutes from downtown Halifax, 40 minutes from Chester, 50 minutes from Mahone Bay, 60 minutes from Lunenburg and the orchards and wineries of the Annapolis Valley. The Halifax International Airport is 35 minutes away.
