New Braunfels Cabin Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 8

Come sleep in the Trees! Cabin 1, Mockingbird Lodge

The moment you arrive at our property and see the enormous eighty foot cypress trees with decades old wild mustang grapevines hanging from their limbs, and a 100’ footbridge that takes you safely across the seasonal creek to your private tree house, you realize you are in a special place.

“Wait a minute, did you say a treehouse?” many people ask. Yes, but this is not your childhood plywood fort of days gone by. Our treehouses are newly constructed, engineered custom cabins with all the conveniences of modern living including air conditioning/heat, wi-fi, satellite TV, kitchen and bathroom.

Picture your own custom cabin, with attached private deck and an open living, dining area and kitchen with a loft above and a master suite attached and a fully functioning bathroom with a walk in shower. The treehouses are actually attached to the large hardwood trees that run along a seasonal creek, which lend to the picturesque setting that will give you an overall exhilarating experience.

We are very fortunate to be located near a very beautiful section of the Guadalupe River on River Road between New Braunfels and Canyon Lake. Though not right on the river, our cabins sit over the seasonal dry creek bed and have 400 feet of river access across River Road with hammocks, picnic tables, fire pits and chairs for your use as well as a nice grassy area to hang out, wade in the water or tube.

Also be aware for those guests staying in the lofts upstairs, our cabins are custom built around the trees, to decrease the weight of the structure, we used spiral staircases to the loft which can be a bit narrow, but it is part of the charm of our treehouse cabins.

Since we are so centrally located, you will be able to easily access and enjoy many of the best places the Texas Hill Country has to offer including river access from our property, Canyon Lake (a boat ramp is only minutes away), Whitewater Amphitheater, River Road Icehouse, Koozies, historic Gruene Hall, Schlitterbahn and the many attractions New Braunfels has to offer, which is 11 miles from the treehouses.

Many of our guests come here to tube and enjoy the Guadalupe River and take advantage of the ease in which they can access and enjoy the river by simply walking across River Rd. to the river access. By taking a shuttle up river and simply floating back down to the river access, you can tube with your group very easily!

**KAYAKS and TUBES ARE NOT included, but can be rented at nearby outfitters. After a long day of tubing and river fun many of our guests enjoy relaxing and barbecuing along the banks of the river recounting the day’s excitement. Afterwards you can enjoy the nightlife and many live music venues nearby or simply hang out with your family and friends on your private treehouse deck.

After a day or two of tubing and river fun, many guests change pace and rent a deck or ski boat at Canyon Lake or go to New Braunfels to enjoy Schlitterbahn Waterpark. When your group is ready for shopping, Gruene Market Days or the San Marcos Outlet Malls are only short drives away.

While all of these activities described above are the main reasons many of our guests come to stay, others simply come for a quick escape from the city to recharge their batteries and enjoy the relaxing sounds of the croaking frogs or chirping crickets at night as they watch for shooting stars in the starlit sky. Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation, you will find it here.

Come for a romantic weekend getaway or try your hand in the blue ribbon trout fishing on the Guadalupe. Our property is located next to the spot on the river where they often times stock the trout which makes it a great place to fish! You can wade the river yourself or hire a fly-fishing guide to take you down the river in a raft or fishing boat.

About Best Texas Travel Representative

This property is managed by Best Texas Travel which is a locally owned, small business who deeply cares about our guest’s comfort and over-all experience. We know you are here to relax and have a good time, so we strive to make each of our guest’s stays as enjoyable and hassle free as possible. Should you have any questions or need anything, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail us. We look forward to your stay with us!

Why Best Texas Travel Representative chose Texas Hill Country

We initially found this property while we were enjoying the beautiful drive along River Rd. Though originally vacant, we absolutely fell in love with this piece of land which had huge trees and really good river access. After thinking for some time about what we could do with the property, the idea came to us to build treehouses in the majestic hardwood, cypress and pecan trees that lined the creek taking advantage of the beautiful canopy view this property possessed.

Shortly thereafter, we began researching treehouse building techniques and were amazed at all the information we found (there is actually a treehouse builders organization as well as people who make and sell specific tree house hardware.) After much planning and engineering we began building our treehouses in the winter of 2010 and finished at the end of July, 2010. We love this property because of the way in which the tree-houses are set and nestled in the trees and the convenience to all the fun activities and venues the area has to offer.

What makes this cabin unique

This is to our knowledge the only treehouse rental complex in the area. You will absolutely enjoy staying here among the tall cypress and pecan trees. The creek is seasonal, though it typically runs of the year (as long as we get rain every 3-4 weeks) and is very soothing to listen to. It is so pretty and our river access is fantastic! We invite our friends over often and try to stay as much as possible ourselves.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Our parents were in town from Lousianna and we wanted to show them New Braunfels and the surrounding area and didn't want to stay at a typical hotel/motel you can stay at anywhere. We were so excited when we found your place. Being "treehouses" we were concerened at first bringing our small kids but as you said the place is very kid freindly and safe with all the handrails. We enjoyed staying up late at night on the deck watching the shooting stars and my dad had a great time taking the kids for wagon rides around the bridges. We'll tell all of our friends about you. Thanks for a great stay.

Reviewer Comments:

The place was nice. It was small. I had the impression it would be a bit bigger. It was just the right size for the 5 people in my party, but 4 would've been ideal. There's a loft that holds 2 queen-size beds, so the only room with a door is downstairs. Th kitchen was mostly stocked with everything we needed, but the oven had no temperature indicators on the dial. It was kind of disappointing to have to wait till morning to drive to town and find a place that sold an oven thermometer. (which wasn't hard to find, actually) My whole reason for glamping in a cabin rather than staying out in the primitive woods was to cook a lot. I called maintenance to help with the matter, but never heard back. The tools for the grill were old and dirty. But it was nice to have a grill. Thankfully, I brought my own tools. The patio was nice with a nice big table to sit out in the trees. The location was definitely remote. I drove out around 8pm and it was Dark. Really dark. But that was the point to be out in the boonies. Overall, it was fun. A few blips here and there, but nothing that would keep me from going back.

Reviewer Comments:

Overall, I would rate our rental experience "Good" as opposed to "Excellent" for the following reasons: 1. Advertising leads renters to believe the rental property is on the river when it's actually across the street. 2. The advertised "River Park" is far from attractive and river access is very minimal and poorly kept up with 3. The deck of the property was riddled with bees, making it hard to spend outdoor quality time without the worry of being stung. 4. Getting in contact with personnel was a little challenging, usually you have to leave a message and wait days for a response.

My sisters and I needed a quiet weekend getaway and got just what we needed. Peaceful location, very cool and comfortable lodging. Had an issue with the lock pad and someone was there within 10 min. Check out the staff at karaoke night at Dam Big Red Barn. Excellent voices and the best hamburger I've had in years!

Reviewer Comments:

The cabin was located in a lovely grove of trees not for anyone wishing to close to the river. We specifically asked for a handicap cabin because of our age and difficulties in moving about. We were assured this cabin would fit our needs. It was NOT. The cabin was so small that a wheelchair could not fit in the door. Even a family of four would have difficulty moving around comfortably The second bedroom was up a winding metal staircase and very difficult to climb The shower door was very difficult to open or close and had to be left partially open so that anyone trying to get out would not be locked inside. Towel rack fell off the wall. The TV would not work. The overall appearance was one of needed attention. There is no onsite manager but a very kind and attentive lady came to fix the TV and tried to make a difficult situation tolerable. We chose to leave one day early because of our disappointment and was given a partial adjustment to our rental agreement.
