About the property

A private guest house in the hill country of Texas

A private guest house in the hill country of Texas. Queen sized bed, full kitchen, entertainment center, and deck with an amazing view. 500 square feet inside plus a 160 square foot deck to enjoy the view.

Now that Lake Travis is full it's good to know we have plenty of room for a boat trailer in our circle driveway! It's 10-20 minutes to a few ramps and marinas.

The property is on the 'bend' of Misty Bend so we are surrounded by cedar and live oak trees. Dozens of bird species including roadrunners live on our property. We have resident deer that come through a couple times a day.

The entertainment center has 5.1 surround sound with Netflix, Pandora, BluRay player, and DirecTV satellite. We even have an Atari Flashback. Which is fun if you ever played Atari originally. So, there is no lack of entertainment if you get tired of being outside.

We are 20 minutes from the beginning of the Texas Hill Country Wine Trail. 5 minutes to Cedar Park. Less than an hour to the Circuit of the Americas. Wire road comes into the neighbourhood about a mile to get to our house. So, we're far enough from the main road to have peace and quiet, but close enough to get to town to do your business or go out to eat.

The house is located close to the main house, but we have gone to great lengths to give our guests privacy so they can relax and enjoy.

Sorry, we are not interested in renting this place on a monthly basis. Maybe a month or two, but not long term.

About Rick & Johanna Cockerham

I work from home as a programmer. So, I'm always around if you need help. I love to work with my hands. So, all of the remodeling I've done has brought many months of enjoyment. Johanna is a nurse and loves to come home to our house tucked away from the world.

Rick & Johanna Cockerham purchased this house in 2013

Why Rick & Johanna Cockerham chose Lake Travis

It's in a great location for a get away vacation. The property is surrounded by trees to the point where we can barely make out the neighbor's houses. And they are far enough away to give us a great 2 acre view. We love the seclusion after a hard day of work.

We purchased this fixer-upper last year. Our efforts have been focused on the guest house to make it a great vacation spot. All new kitchen, bathroom, siding, entertainment center with speakers on the deck. Remodelling on the main house is on hold until next summer. So, please come and enjoy all our hard work.

What makes this house unique

We are right off of Whitestone boulevard (1431). One way you're instantly driving through beautiful hill country toward Marble Falls. The other way you're right into town to get groceries quickly. We're also close to the toll road where you can get to the airport south of Austin in about 40 minutes.

Always a good experience.

We were very pleased with this property. It is just the right size for the two of us, private and cozy. The kitchen is great. We were appreciative of the reverse osmosis water filter. We enjoyed lunch on the back deck watching the birds at the feeders. The internet works well and the TV has a great number of channels. The cabin was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The cabin is about 15 minutes from a good hiking and biking trail which we enjoyed.

Great Stay at this small cottage

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed three nights at this small cottage a short drive from Austin. The house was very clean and just what we were looking for in a get-away. A perfect spot for a couple. Would highly recommend.

FANTASTIC!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week at this lovely cabin. This place was perfect for us. Great location & beautiful scenery. To top things off, a bottle of wine was waiting for us & the owner brought over fresh roasted coffee beans. We will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

Cozy, quite get away!

  • 5 of 5

I loved this little cabin. I had a long weekend and just wanted to take a quick break from life. This was the perfect place to relax and unwind. It is just the right size for one...two if you are close! The cabin is very clean and tidy, and has everything you might need. If by some chance you find that you do need something, Rick is very nice and quick to respond! Or a quick trip up the road puts you right back in the middle of civilization. Austin is also less than 30 minutes away. I would definitely come back down the next time I feel the need for a breather.

Wonderful quiet place in the country

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Misty Bend Cabin while our house was being totally upgraded. This is a wonderful little place to stay in the country but still close enough to Leander, Cedar Park, Round Rock areas if you want to go into the "city." If you enjoy good farm to table food and local craft beers and wines, we highly suggest making a trip to Farm to Fork in Leander. Rick and Johanna were great hosts. We had a wonderful time!
