Overview

About the property

A private guest house in the hill country of Texas

A private guest house in the hill country of Texas. Queen sized bed, full kitchen, entertainment center, and deck with an amazing view. 500 square feet inside plus a 160 square foot deck to enjoy the view.

Now that Lake Travis is full it's good to know we have plenty of room for a boat trailer in our circle driveway! It's 10-20 minutes to a few ramps and marinas.

The property is on the 'bend' of Misty Bend so we are surrounded by cedar and live oak trees. Dozens of bird species including roadrunners live on our property. We have resident deer that come through a couple times a day.

The entertainment center has 5.1 surround sound with Netflix, Pandora, BluRay player, and DirecTV satellite. We even have an Atari Flashback and Genesis. Which is fun if you ever played Atari originally. So, there is no lack of entertainment if you get tired of being outside.

We are 20 minutes from the beginning of the Texas Hill Country Wine Trail. 5 minutes to Cedar Park. Less than an hour to the Circuit of the Americas. Wire road comes into the neighborhood about a mile to get to our house. So, we're far enough from the main road to have peace and quiet, but close enough to get to town to do your business or go out to eat.

The house is located close to the main house, but we have gone to great lengths to give our guests privacy so they can relax and enjoy.

Note, the second bed is a high quality air mattress that fits in the living room. We have a backup air mattress just in case.

Sorry, we are not interested in renting this place on a monthly basis. Maybe a month or two, but not long term.

About Rick & Johanna Cockerham

I work from home as a programmer. So, I'm always around if you need help. I love to work with my hands. So, all of the remodeling I've done has brought many months of enjoyment. Johanna is a nurse and loves to come home to our house tucked away from the world.

Rick & Johanna Cockerham purchased this house in 2013

Why Rick & Johanna Cockerham chose Leander

It's in a great location for a get away vacation. The property is surrounded by trees to the point where we can barely make out the neighbor's houses. And they are far enough away to give us a great 2 acre view. We love the seclusion after a hard day of work.

We purchased this fixer-upper last year. Our efforts have been focused on the guest house to make it a great vacation spot. All new kitchen, bathroom, siding, entertainment center with speakers on the deck.

What makes this house unique

We are right off of Whitestone boulevard (1431). Go one way and you're instantly driving through beautiful hill country toward Marble Falls. The other way you're right into town to get groceries quickly. We're also close to the toll road where you can get to the airport south of Austin in about 40 minutes.

Peaceful Cabin in the Hill Country

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our stay at Misty Bend Cabin. This was a last minute trip and the owners answered our request to book immediately. This is a small, clean cabin out in the country. Five minutes from stores and restaurants but far enough out to enjoy the peace and quiet. Water has a reverse osmosis that works great! If we are ever near Austin, we would book it again.

Clean, cozy and exceptionally quiet

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was the perfect respite for me each evening after attending three days of agility seminars with my pup. It was clean and tidy, apportioned well with all I needed. Rick was a fabulous host, appearing within minutes to resolve a technical challenge I had. The photos accurately convey the accommodations. The property sits towards the end of a residential road and was exceptionally quiet. Combined with the comfortable bed, I slept soundly each evening!

Owner's Response: Thanks Steve. It's true everyone has a personal preference on how water should taste. Sorry you didn't like ours. I checked the RO water filter and it's working great. So, we know the water is safe.

Clean and secluded hideaway

  • 4 of 5

6 days of quiet and relaxation. Enjoyed our stay. Only concern was that amenities listed (availability of washer &dryer) had conditional use. Would definitely recommend this cabin as a great place to stay. Walt.

Cute cabin - perfect for two

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I really loved this place. It is a small cabin, but with all the necessities. It backs up to a great backyard and then the woods. In the morning and evenings, we would go outside on the deck and just watch the wildlife. We spent a lot of time out and about exploring Austin and the surrounding areas, and it was nice to have a place to return to each night. There was a toad that showed up by the front door each evening and welcomed us home - that's something you'll never see where we live and it may sound silly, but we loved returning each night and seeing him sitting there.

Bonus points: The sound system is wired to the bedroom and the deck - a nice touch!
