From the beginning, my stay at this location was fraught with problems. When you book through VRBO, they don't tell you about the additional 50 dollar per stay/per pet fee. I book and agreed to a price. I then receive an email from Evolve (management company) the following day telling me that I owe the $50 pet fee before my transaction can be processed. Had I known, I could have evaluated that along with other homes when making my decision. They had me up against the wall so I end up agreeing to. Fine. A week later, I get an email from the rental company with what seems to be information on how to get to the property and how to get in. Next day I get an email from the actual owner (Kendra) who reminds me that my pet can't be left alone, can't be on furniture and that I have to pick up her poo or I will be fined 100 dollars. The poo rules is a given I think, but not leaving the pet alone. The pet on the furniture rule is not a deal breaker, but good to know ahead of time. I'm a responsible pet owner and there to snowboard. I've rented enough homes in Tahoe to know they should have made all of the rules available prior to booking. I have a nine year old Great Dane who sleeps most of day, but I'm told that if I leave her alone in the house, I will be fined $100 . This information was only given to me a day prior to the owner's email and a week after my money was taken and told there were no refunds. I would have liked to left my dog in the house while I was on the mountain instead of having her in a freezing car all day.
Bring your own pillows. and a space heater if you're using the third bedroom. One guest slipped and hurt himself because the deck was full of snow and ice and hand't been shoveled. Check-In is 4PM according to the information I received a week after paying. I had asked for an early check-in, but hadn't heard back from the owner. When I did, she was polite and offered a late check-out. She assumed we'd be leaving on Sunday and hadn't heard back from me regarding check-out confirmation, so I received a curt message about sending over "the cleaning lady". I told her I thought i was odd to send anyone to clean until we were gone on Monday. Finally got it cleared up and she agreed to wait to send someone out. First time I had to communicate with a homeowner so much. Also, turns out there was an unexpected charge for $84.50 from VRBO. Haven't had a VRBO problem before. Don't book from Evolve Vacation Rental Network Properties.
Kendra the owner was so amazing in responding and checking in with me before and during our stay. The cabin is so wonderful and every detail to the light fixtures is the perfect cabin decor. All the amenities were great. The hot tub fits 4 people comfortably. Theirs a desolation wilderness trail head around the corner perfect for snow sledding or during summer a hike. The cabin was dog friendly, although the stairs were a bit scary for my pup so you may have to carry your fur friend up every time as we did. Overall the experience was awesome, it's far enough to feel secluded and close enough, To take a drive into town for nightlife or restaurant. Thank you again for a great stay !
The is a great cabin for a family get away. We had fun sledding in the backyard and playing the many board games supplied. From the modern kitchen you can keep an eye on the hot tub and be part of the action in the living room. The fireplace kept the cabin cozy and warm. This is a great location for skiing at Sierra, Kirkwood or Heavenly.
I was disappointed with no central heating upstairs in two of the three bedrooms and the half bathroom. We were in Lake Tahoe with temps in the teens some nights and the lack of heat in the master bedroom and the bedroom where our twins slept was annoying at best. The lack of a fenced in yard for a property that was "pet friendly" was not a plus.
The owner was very approachable and immediate in her responses to my questions, even offering us directions to a sledding area close by that was the highlight of our stay. I am conflicted with recommending the cabin; the main reason being the lack of heat upstairs.
When you wake us and there is "smoke" coming from your lungs because the rooms are so cold is pretty unnacceptable, bad enough for me not to recommend the cabin to friends
Such a cute, cozy cabin! It was decorated for the holiday. The well stocked kitchen was very handy. We loved sitting on the front porch. The hot tub was perfect after a day of hiking. We were very comfortable and loved it!
