Ready for a quiet getaway for family and friends, the newly remodeled and refurnished River View Guest House awaits you in Blanco, Texas. Built in 1939, this beautiful bungalow style home is nestled in the shade of five huge pecan trees.
Blanco is in the heart of the unique Texas Hill Country. Enjoy the drive into town as you pass through the rolling hills. The town was named after the white limestone on the bottom of the river.
As you approach the native stone home, imagine resting with a good book or talking with a friend on the bench swing on the front porch. Entering the house, you are greeted by amber walls and the original hardwood floors. As the sun sets, the floors and walls assume a particularly lovely glow. The detail and simplicity of the trim around the windows and doorways is pleasing to the eye, and the arch between the rooms invites you to explore. The spacious sunroom at the back of the house is enclosed with windows to gaze at the glistening sun reflecting off the Blanco River.
A large, well-stocked kitchen can be used by guests for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks. It can accommodate meals for large gatherings of family and friends as easily as a romantic dinner for two. The roomy living area has conversation areas and a gaming table. Kick your feet up in the comfy chairs in the old dining room to watch the cable TV or a DVD. Outside, the three patios beckon you to watch the birds and feel the gentle breezes. Outside seating tempts you to barbeque a meal on the grill for your group.
Reservations can be made for the whole house. There are three bedrooms to sleep six with accommodations for an additional five guests.
River View Guest House is designed to be a place of comfort and connection. We welcome your visit.

I chose this house due to its location by the river and three blocks from the town square. I also like how peaceful this place feels.
The house is 3 short blocks from the town square that is surrounded by restaurants and shops. The back gate enters into the Blanco State Park where there is easy access to swimming in the water.
Your home is so beautiful and every where I turn, there is another wonderful treasure waiting to be discovered. As we were drifting off to sleep last night, I was thinking "She's thought of everything to ensure a memorable stay", and then I heard a chime tinkling softly in the wind and my thought was confirmed.
Thank you so much.
This is a great vacation home! It is so cozy and has so much Blanco memorabilia in the home. The house is very spacious and you can see the river from the back door. Elizabeth is great and very accommodating!
Our family had a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving week at the River View Guest house. Stepping into the house is like stepping back in time. (But with modern climate control). The multiple living areas made it very comfortable for a large group even with cold rainy weather. My grandson appreciated the modern TV to hook his game system to and the adults liked that it wasn't in the main room. The well stocked game closet came in handy.
I have rented many properties on VRBO.COM and this was by far the best stocked. The kitchen has everything we needed to prepare and serve Thanksgiving dinner. Having basic groceries (flour, sugar, oil, coffee, spices) was really helpful. There is lots of seating and almost every seat has a quilt or throw to cover-up as needed-very cozy. The linen closet is abundant with plenty of towels, bedding and pillows.
Blanco is a charming little town to explore and it is a good base for day trips. We enjoyed stepping out the back gate and into the State Park. The grandkids are excited to return when the water will be warm enough to get in. This trip we settled for hiking and watching the ducks.
We spent 3 nights at the River View House and loved it! Our family of 10 found it to be just what we wanted for our vacation in the hill country. The house had a great old time charm, and was decorated wonderfully. The kitchen was well stocked and made it easy to prepare big family meals. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. We really enjoyed our vacation, and the River View House was a big part of the reason why.
Our family of 5 adults and one toddler spent Christmas weekend at the perfectly located River View Guest House. I echo all the positive comments. We were enchanted by the rustic, authentic "Hill Country" charm of the home and the picturesque river view from several rooms. The common areas are spacious and comfortable. The well-equipped kitchen is also well designed, accommodating multiple cooks. Dining and relaxing in the sunroom overlooking the river was a highlight. I only wish our stay could have lasted longer.
The homeowner is as delightful as the property and went out of her way to help me locate and retrieve something I left behind. We are most grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time in this lovely home.
We had such a wonderful time staying in the River View Bungalow. Our family could not
be together for Thanksgiving or Christmas so we chose to meet in Blanco the first weekend in December and celebrate both wonderful days. The kitchen had everything we needed to have our Turkey, dressing and eat our Christmas Ham as well. We were all able to sit together in the Sun room, around a large table.
The River View has such an "at home" feeling about it, cozy, warm and decorated
We did so enjoy the grounds and walking over to the river to feed the ducks.
The first evening, we walked around the little park in Blanco named after the original owners of River View (which was decorated and lighted for Christmas.) The Blanco Court House was lighted all around and we really knew we were indeed celebrating Christmas.
The next evening, we drove to Johnson City to view the beautiful Christmas lights
there as well.
We want to Thank the owner for allowing us to use her lovely home and for providing
so much comfort. This is a memory our family will cherish always. We do plan to return
again. Thank you again!
We spent a week at the River House in Blanco Texas and had a fabulous time. My son got married on May 4th 2014 and we decided to rent the River Home due to its location, convenience and the hospitality of the owner. The weather was perfect and being next to the river and downtown made our vacation so easy. We fished, walked the trails, barbecued out and basically had a wonderful time. If you were in need of anything, you could just open a closet or drawer and find it. We spent a week and never once turned on the television. This was our first trip to the Hill Country of Texas and we found the area to be most beautiful and people even more so. The only regrets we had was that the time was way to short. We would have loved to spend more time exploring the area and fishing the river. This is a vacation house that really makes you feel at home. I would recommend this vacation home to anyone. This is truly a home away from home.
