About the property

4 Bedrooms - 3.5 Baths - (Sleeps 10)

10 Beautiful Acres of Mountains shared by only 4 houses. Enjoy the privacy and Beautiful Mountain Views, yet the convenience of being only 5 minutes from Town/Wal-Mart. No 4 wheel drive required, the roads are paved all the way to the house. This is a 3100 sq ft spacious home with everything you could want. This country home was built by me in Dec 2006, and was barely used so the condition is 'like new'. It comes fully furnished with everything you need to stay 1 week, or 1 year. All appliances, including washer/dryer are like new. The master bedroom, breakfast room, dining room, laundry room, guest bathroom, and living room are all located on the first floor. On the second floor are 2 bedrooms with queen beds and a large guest bathroom.

Now for the basement: It is so huge it is like a whole other home. It is equipped with: King Size Bed, Day Bed (sleeps 2), a living room with pit group, 32 inch TV with entertainment center, 46 inch TV in the bedroom, eating table with chairs, and a full bathroom. There is also a high quality foosball table, treadmill for those that like to stay fit, DVD movies to watch, games to plan, and the basement even has its own thermostat controlled heating and Air Conditioning unit.

Outside there are large wrap around decks on all 4 sides of the cabin. Also comes with wireless internet and free long distance calling.

River rafting, Viewing, Trout Fishing, Cooking Out and basic Romantic Relaxation. The Franklin and the Smokey Mountain area provide many places to visit and lots to do like Horseback Riding, Antiquing, Gem Mining, rafting/canoeing/kayaking/tubing the Little Tennessee and other local rivers, site seeing and scenery appreciation. Don’t forget to visit Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, only a short drive over the mountain. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Maggie Valley, Ashville home of the Biltmore Estates are all just an hour or two away.

To insure that all of our guests enjoy their time here, our 'Cabin' is always smoke-free and pet-free. We also request a $70 non-refundable cleaning charge, so that we can ensure that our 'cabin' is in tip top condition when our guests arrive. Check-in Time is 5 pm and Check-out time is 11 am (although we will work with you in special situations).

PLEASE NOTE: The prices listed are for the main house, 1st and 2nd floors, and does not include the basement. The basement rental is $250/week + tax additional. Because the basement is so huge (over 1300 sq ft) this additional charge is needed to cover the additional heating/cooling and cleaning. The main house is 3 BR/2.5 Baths. Rest assured, we will never rent the basement to someone separate from renters of the main house.

The video that can be seen by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page is from when the house was for sale. It is currently NOT for sale.

About Bill

I am a General Contractor and built this house myself. If you are interested in building a house in Franklin, take a look at my house. If you like the quality of my work, perhaps I can build you a home with the same quality as this one.

Bill purchased this house in 2006

Why Bill chose North Carolina Mountains

The location is so convenient (5 min from town/Wal-Mart), yet you feel like you are away from it all.

What makes this house unique

Feel like you are in the middle of the wilderness, yet be 5 minutes from town, eateries, stores, etc.

The absolute perfect mountain getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I chose this place as a mountain retreat for a week in the hills of NC. Easy to reach from Jacksonville, FL and the perfect vacation for flatlanders wanting to see some landscape variety. Aside from the immaculate accommodations and gorgeous views, the best part about this home is that it is fairly centrally located to everything that is great to do in that part of NC. Asheville, Highlands, Biltmore, etc... are all located within an easy morning drive and provide excellent daily excursions. And don't pass up Franklin itself! This little gem has great local restaurants and some unique shops. While you always want the perfect vacation without issue, disaster did strike on the last day as we were leaving when some water backup caused some serious leaking in the upper master and downstairs bonus room. I was so worried this would become a problem and yet Mr. Corkill and his team acted in complete professionalism and sent someone over right away as we were getting ready to lock up. I received 100% of my deposit (to be clear this was not an issue we created)! Turns out, this really IS the best place to stay!

Excellent In Every Way

  • 5 of 5

I very seldom if ever write reviews but I have to make an exception. My family, my wife, 3 adult sons, daughter-in-law, 2 grandchildren and now future daughter-in-law stayed a week in Bill and Teresa's beautiful cabin. I say future DIL because my oldest son chose this stay to propose. She said "yes"! The accommodations were beyond words and the communication with Bill were A1! We look forward to next year and hope it's available when we plan out next trip!

Great place Centrally Located in Western NC Mountains

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented this home as a central spot for 5 days to look for yearly rentals for our Son and girlfriend that recently graduated from Chef school and had jobs in Highlands. Little did we know, we would also enjoy a short great vacation in staying at Bill and Teresa's home.

Rates were great, much lower than in Highlands, with a much nicer home. Rental, check in, and check out are well setup and flawless. Emails to owner answered quickly, and deposit returned 3 days after checkout. Everything is included here that you need for everyone of every age. Kitchen is fully equipped, bring nothing. Beds very comfortable, and great views from every part of house.

Really nice thing is that it is very central... Highlands, Cashiers, Franklin, and Sylva all within a 30-45 minute drive of all area towns and natural attractions. We visited a few waterfalls, gem museum, heritage trains, and quite a few brewpubs in our free time.

Overall.... This home is really the best value for your money that I have spent for anything in quite some while. The only slight negative is to pay attention on the steep road getting to the house. It is not bad once you do it once and know the way, but I would recommend arriving during daylight when arriving for first time.

Owner's Response: I have no idea why this person rated my home 4 of 5? She is the only one who ever has. Her comments are all good, so when I asked "why did you only give my house a 4 out of 5, her response was "Only because of the fact that no pets are allowed". Mmmmm.. if you want to bring a pet, why not rent a cabin that allows pets, instead of renting one that is clearly marked "No Pets Allowed" and then give them a lower rating?? We love pets too and have had many over the years, but many renters prefer a "No pets allowed" home for various reasons, including allergy concerns, so we have decided to make our home available to those folks who prefer "No Pets Allowed" homes.

July 30 - Aug. 27, 2016:

My wife and I, spent four fantastic weeks of Aug., 2016 at Bill & Teresa's home just outside of Franklin, NC. It was a relaxing and recharging time spent visiting different locations of beautiful water falls, long range overlooks, neat restaurants, gorgeous national forests, old mountain towns(still with an active & healthy downtown), zip lining, enjoying the Smoky Mountain Performing Arts Center attractions, and being very comfortable in their home away from from home. We had family members from both sides visit us and the home was beyond comfortable for everyone, with space and privacy for all. I opened each day, before breakfast, by walking to the bottom of Corkill Estates and then taking Corkill Lane to the very top(the view is gorgeous), and it was a perfect way to start each day as I watched the haze slowly burn away and reveal the beauty below....we had breakfast, almost every morning, out on the deck, gazing at the long range views of the mountains, and ended our day by watching the haze slowly fold up the mountains at sunset. My wife, and I, hope your stay in this beautiful home, and your visit to these mountains, will be as rewarding for you, and your family, as our visit was for us....thank you, Jim(Bill's brother - a great help & active author: check out his work as a fiction writer), and Bill & Teresa for allowing us to create this adventure.....

My family (including small grandchildren) stayed at this beautiful home. We had a fantastic time. All the comforts of being in a home are here!! We rented the lower level as well and it was perfect for my son's family and his small children. My daughter and her husband stayed upstairs while my husband and I stayed on the main level. Fantastic set up!! Everyone had their space, but could still come together in the main living areas and porches. (Let's face it, sometimes you need your own space.... and we had it). And the kitchen is a very nice size, so several people could be in there at once. We would definitely stay here again.
