Newly refurbished former private camp comfortably sleeps four to six adults. Cozy lounging area features windowed wood stove framed by natural stone fireplace. Fully equipped kitchen stocked with basic utensils and condiments. Pure well water on tap. Tiled bath has roomy step-in shower and plenty of hot water. The 100+ acre property's rolling hills, forests and fields straddle Upstate New York's Schoharie and Mohawk Valleys.
The rural farm area is accessible from NYS Thruways 90 & 88 West of Albany. Hiking trails, Cooperstown, Sharon Springs, Glimmerglass Opera House, Howe Caverns, and Cobleskill Native American museum all within easy drive. The region's rich colonial history includes significant roles in both French & Indian and Revolutionary Wars. The area enjoyed unimaginable prosperity with construction of the Erie Canal.
Central New York State has some of the nation's most beautiful natural scenery. The 100 plus acres surrounding Flat Creek Cottage are no exception. Right now the cottage and land are still a work in progress. Purchased last spring fulfilling a dream of owning large undeveloped rural property. Work has only just begun to transform the land into a natural recreational paradise attractive to all stripe of vacationers, Our first project was to refurbish and update the 40 year old cottage. Formally used seasonally by a wealthy downstate family, the solidly built cottage was a charm to renovate including updating the bathroom and furnishings. A more efficient wood stove and new chimney insure safe use by experienced guests. In the future hope to see my foreign born nieces and nephews enjoy the land.
What is great is that the cottage provides a true 'getaway' for those times when we need to dramatically change daily surroundings. While there are many things to do in the area, there is nothing to stop you from just taking it easy and vegetating if it suits you. There are long walks and hikes around the property to enjoy the variety of landscapes when its time to venture more.
Hiking trails abound in the area including Vroman's Nose in nearby Fulton, Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame, Sharon Springs offers fine dining and mineral baths, Glimmerglass Opera House features a summer season of four productions, Howe Caverns is one of the States most prominent natural cave vormations, and Cobleskill Native American museum are all within easy drive of Flat Creek Cottage. The region's rich colonial history includes significant roles in both French & Indian and Revolutionary Wars.
