This Oceanfront property is a rare masterpiece of interior design and architecture and is located in the charming adventurous town of Bocas Del Toro, Panama. Bocas Del Toro has still kept its rustic charm while providing modern amenities such as excellent phone coverage, high speed internet, and an international airport.
Casa Del Mar has a dock attached to the back of the house so that water taxis to take you to restaurants, bars, and beaches and boat charters to tour the vast natural beauty and excitement that has made Bocas Del Toro Famous conveniently pick you up at the house.
This property is a very big house with great accommodations. Our hostess Numar was extremely helpful, courteous and always available if we had questions. The view from the 2nd floor deck was awesome as our group sat our there every evening to wind down for the day. The only downside to the house was lack of a good access to the ocean. You need to open 4 different different locks and there was not a good way to "jump off the dock" into the ocean. There also wasn't a way to get back on the dock once you jumped in. Other than that, we were very pleased with this property!
We also stayed at the house, and totally agree with the other review above. Numar was very friendly and helpful, she arranged for a chef to come in and cook us dinner one evening, and was a contact when my grandson lost his wallet on a trail ride. The upstairs deck was marvelous, we enjoyed our stay.

Having owned a rental property in Costa Rica for 7 years and knowing how important it is to provide a rental experience that meets the expectations of the traveller, I cannot say how disappointed we were with this property. We convinced our family to join us in Bocas Del Toro and stay at Casa Del Mar based on the photo's of the house and the amenities listed on the VRBO site. Advertised as an executive rental capable of housing 10 people, the house can sleep ten people, but it is by no means equipped to cater to more than 5-6 people. We arrived to discover that the house is run down, dirty, sparsly furnished with poor attention to detail. When questioned about the VRBO pictures versus what we discovered, the property manager informed us they were taken some five years ago. The sand coloured tile floors throughout were actually black from not having been cleaned, some of the appliances did not work and there was little or no hot water for most of our stay (10 days). The balcony overlooking the water was the highlight of the house, however there were only 5 chairs for the dining table of 10 and two loungers of which we had to repair both before we could use them. We had to move one of the couches from the house to the balcony to accommodate our family. The property manager brought in cleaners to clean the floors (it took 2 days) and replaced the toaster, frying pans, pots and coffee cups and provided new dish towels as there were none. I sent an email to the property manager asking for some sort of restitution for the inconvenience and poor state of the house, but received no response. If you are seeking an executive rental in Bocas Del Toro, Casa Del Mar is definitely not what it is advertised, and certainly NOT worth the $$ they charge, and it is unprofessional of the owner to post pictures that are not current nor to advertise this house as an upscale property capable of satisfying a group of ten. The highlight of our visit to Bocas were the Restaurants and the Tours, specifically the Oreba Chocolate Tour, a "must see".
The house is perfect for a group of 10 ( grandma down to an 18 year old). As usually happens there were minor glitches i.e. watch your water use. As Americans we are spoiled thinking we have limitless water except in CA & parts of the west. Out Panama works on a refill tank system. There is plenty when you are considerate!!!
The village is delightful. The people friendly and helpful. Water taxis are the mode of transportation or tours or boat rental with the "captain." We met many from South America----kinda a meeting up of the continents, which was very fun.
Would we go again? Yes, but there are so many other places to explore. Bocas & Casa del Mar will remain special for us.
Absolutely stay here if you are coming to Bocas! We were a group of 9 friends on graduate school spring break (we wanted something more adult than a hostel), and this was the ideal house and location for us.
The house is beautiful, clean, spacious, and in the perfect location. It is in the heart of Bocas town with access to restaurants and nightlife, and the boat attached to the house provides access to the amenities of surrounding islands. The deck off the back of the house has an amazing view--a great place for morning coffee.
Numar was also extremely accommodating. We hired a chef for the week, and she gave him access to the kitchen so that we could have dinner ready by the time we got back from the beach. Also, look into Panama Concierge. Jack (the owner) arranged everything for us and made sure we saw the best of the area. If you are traveling with a large group, I strongly suggest you work with him.
Our family of 5 (kids' ages: 17, 15 11) just returned from a 5-night stay at Casa del Mar. It worked out great - everyone had their own room, it was conveniently located at the end of the main street (Calle 3) that runs through the town. Taxis easily accessible for going to Playa Bluff beach & other out of town destinations. Air conditioning throughout was nice to have when returning from a day at the beach. The upstairs deck/veranda with dining table and chaises overlooking the water was our favorite place to hang out at the house to read/relax - gorgeous view of sailboats and the sea. Numar was at the house everyday to help w/arrangements for use of the boat and arranging a private chef who cooked a delicious seafood meal one night. She met us at the airport and arranged for taxi pick-up early on the day we departed. Great day on the boat with the captain (Shadow) who took us to see wild dolphins, snorkeling and lunch at a rustic/delicious restaurant on stilts over the clear water...yummy grilled lobsters....then, to unspoiled Zapatilla Island for swimming and a beautiful ride home...a full day that all enjoyed. Grocery stores/markets are literally next door and across the street which made stocking the fridge easy as can be. Thirsty late afternoon? A 2-block walk from the house was a smoothie truck. Best pizza ever at Alberto's about 5 minutes from the house. Fun/great little restaurants on the water throughout the town - all about a 5-10 minute walk from the front door. Casual/rustic atmosphere throughout the town. Lots of fresh towels, comfortable beds, a laundry room which was handy to have, flatscreen tv for occasional evening tv for the kids. We really enjoyed zip-lining on Isla Basmientos (15 minute boat ride from a well-marked dock downtown) and spending the afternoon on Red Frog Beach. Another day found us at Oreba Cacao Farm which was so interesting...hiking up into the hills/jungle and learning from the indigenous villagers about growing/harvesting/making cacao/chocolate - delicious. The house was well-situated to use as a base for all that the area has to offer. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Bocas Town for its convenience and modern amenities...and that view!
