We recently purchased Snowy Bluff, a spacious cabin located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The Black Hills is one of our favorite destinations for our family and we are excited to use the cabin so we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. As the original owners of Snowy Bluff have in the past, we will continue to operate Snowy Bluff as a rental cabin for others to enjoy as well. This cabin has been second home and rental property since it was built in 2001. Snowy Bluff is located in Lead, South Dakota and is near snowmobile trail 7A, a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Mickelson Trail, and quick drive away from the ski slopes, golf, fishing and the night life of Deadwood. Some of our families favorite things to enjoy in the area are: Snowmobiling, fishing at Pactola Lake, tubing at Mystic Mountain, skiing at Terry Peak and of course, historic Deadwood.
Jeanine Clendenen purchased this cabin in 2014
One of the main attractions we had to Snowy Bluff was the 9+ acres that came with the property. The private land allows us to enjoy a breathtaking view of the black hills and the abundant wild life of South Dakota. We live only 2 hours away and have always had a special place in our heart for the black hills, making it an easy decision to own a property here for our family to enjoy.
One of the unique benefits we love about Snowy Bluff is the tranquility we feel on the deck. There are no other cabins in your view, just the beauty of the black hills. Yet, it is not far off the beaten path to enjoy all there is to do in the area. The cabin has a rustic feel, yet all the comforts of home are there to enjoy. An added feature is the garage space to use for all your gear, whether it be mountain bikes, snowmobiles, 4 wheelers, ski/snowboarding or for golf. After you enjoy a day of adventure, you can relax in the outdoor hot tub on the patio.
We loved everything about Snowy Bluff. Our favorite part was sitting around and hanging with great friends. The hot tub was very relaxing and stayed warm while we sat in it for hours. We loved the switchback road to get up here. The boys felt like they were teenagers again. Five Stars!!! Wish we had more time to spend at the cabin and explore.
The ride up and down the road was a little rough, but worth it when you get there. It is a wonderful place to go and get away from it all. We had a wonderful time with our kids. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from it all.
We loved how secluded it was. The view was spectacular. The perfect get away with our family and friends. We will definitely be returning in the near future. The owner I spoke with was very helpful. Thank for so much for a peaceful and homey experience.
The cabin was a perfect fit for what our family wanted to accomplish during a few days of rest and relaxation. The cabin is very close to Terry Peak and Mystic Mountain (snowboarding, skiing, and tubing). The cabin was spacious and had everything we needed. Next time we'll bring cross country skis. We didn't realize how close the cabin would be to trails. It was a learning experience. Another thing we'll do is reserve snow mobiles ahead of time. There is so much to do in the area. It was nice coming back to the cabin in the evening for meals, to watch movies, play games (the pool table was a hit!) and relax in the hot tub. Thanks for making the cabin available to our family.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Snowy Bluff cabin. This remote location was perfect for our family who enjoys hiking through the woods. Our only neighbors were the white tail does and bucks that walked through the yard. Close location to Lead was nice for groceries. The cabin was nicely equipped. Our grown children thought it was a great place to meet. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!
Had a wonderful time starting with the switchback drive up to the property (would suggest SUV or 4x4). The kids loved the drive up to and down from the property. There was plenty of wildlife too! Everything was clean/well appointed and we all loved the pool table and hot tub. Breakfast out on the deck overlooking the valley below was another highlight! The property was remote enough to give us the privacy we wanted, yet close enough to town for access to necessities and attractions.
We had a flight cancellation at the beginning of our trip and Jeanine was extremely understanding and helpful. She worked with us and she made sure we had the full week we had planned on. The property was very spacious and we could have accommodated another family of 5 easily.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend this property to friends and family!
The directions to the cabin were accurate and we found it right away. If you are not use to mountain roads, the road to the cabin can be intimidating. We pulled a 30 ft trailer with a half ton pickup and had no problems getting up the switchback. We saw a car take the road as well. The cabin is at the end of the road offering a very private setting. The cabin was clean and everything was in order. It's a beautiful cabin with a nice view. Our 3 and 6 year old had a blast. We spent most nights in the hot tub soaking in the view. We also did some ATVing. You can be on good trails in 5 minutes from the cabin. There is also some really easy trails that my 6 year old was able to ride his dirtbike on that are very close to the cabin. There is not a lot of yard space at this property but we hardly noticed with a large deck and the hotub on the walk out level. We will be staying here again and hopefully be making it an annual trip. From the cabin to Lead is about 25 minutes.
If you like outdoors as much as we do, then Snowy Bluff cabin will the perfect place to stay. During all four seasons, the black hills of South Dakota is full of adventure. Snowmobile enthusiasts will enjoy leaving directly from the cabin and hooking up to Trail 7A. Terry Peak Ski Resort and Mystic Mountain are about 6 miles away from the cabin. The George S. Mickelson Trail system is located a couple of miles from Snowy Bluff where trail lovers can hook onto and enjoy 109 miles of black hills trail. While staying at Snowy Bluff, you and your guests can safely enjoy the night life of nearby historic Deadwood by utilizing the local taxi services. Enjoy the great smells of the pine trees on the spacious deck while observing the abundant wildlife of South Dakota, such as eagles, deer, elk and mountain lion. If golfing is your game, just miles away is the Lead Country Club and in addition, you can take in the growing number of golf courses in the area. Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Pactola Lake, Wineries, Spearfish Canyon, President's Park, Custer State Park and so much more to explore!! Check them out at www.leadmethere.org and www.travelsd.com.
