About Rob and Shauna Werner

Rob and Shauna Werner live on Rings Island near Newburyport, MA. They founded a non-profit corporation that operates charitable thrift stores throughout New England. The proceeds are donated to food pantries and other local charities. Shauna has spent every summer of her life at Happy Hill. Their three children have spent every summer of their lives at Happy Hill. Their two daughters are still lifeguards on the National Seashore. Happy Hill was purchased in 1975 by Shauna's parents Bob and Mary Callary.

Rob and Shauna Werner purchased this house in 1975

Why Rob and Shauna Werner chose North Truro

Happy Hill was built in 1810 by Ebenezer Paine who's relatives came to North America on the Mayflower. In 2012, Rob Werner began a three year renovation of the house and cottage costing over $200,000. The porch ceiling, kitchen bar, dining table and 2nd floor woodwork were all made from the original 200 year old floor boards.

The house and its private two acre lot is perched on a small hill overlooking the village at Pond Road. Once settled on Happy Hill, you can enjoy the privacy of your own estate or explore the beauty and splendor of the magical outer cape.

What makes this house unique

The house features three separate living spaces, each with bathrooms, kitchens, and decks. Multiple families can spend the day and meals together in the larger common areas of the main houses' first floor. At the evenings end, each can retire to a more private sleeping area. Walk or bike ride to the calm bay beaches or to the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. A shuttle bus will take you to Provincetown for a memorable time in that unique seaport town.

This home was the perfect place to spend with my family for my daughter's wedding. Plenty of room to be together and to get away! Couldn't have been more pleased.

Perfect vacation place to stay with your family. Plenty of space for everyone. We love the screened in porch and the outdoor shower is a plus. The house has a lot of history and is clean and well taken care of.

  • 5 of 5

Really good layout for extended family, house is much better equipped than most rentals, and house has both Cape Cod charm from being 200 years old yet has been totally redone in last few years with really nice kitchen, bathrooms and modern conveniences. House has lots of bikes, games, and kayaks. Excellent stay!

Lovely home and terrific hosts

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect home to stay on the Cape! Beautiful usable space for three families with a relaxing porch and all the supplies you need for the beach (plus kayaks!). You can also walk to a great restaurant and market (Captains Choice and Salty Market). Great sandwiches at Salty and loved the fish tacos at Captains Choice-also a good breakfast after a run to the beach. The Truro town beaches are awesome-you can get a permit for campfires on the beaches from the Fire House to have fires on the beach you choose from 6-10 pm and guess what? We even saw a whale at town beach at the end of Coast Gaurd St. Amazing! Plus a ton of seals every evening! The shuttle is a great way to get into Ptown if you don't want to pay to park (about $15 to $20 for a day- but if you park at the Monument for $15- you do get one free pass and worth climbing to the top for some great pics!) you off right on the Pier. Truro Winery (wine is okay and if you like gin or rum-there is also a tasting for this) is across the street from the cottage and they also have yoga on Thursday mornings. The Black Fish food truck is also there-delicious food! Savory pizza on Rte 6 has THE best Almond Joy ice cream-pizza isn't bad, but the ice cream makes it! Go to Cuffy's in Ptown for very reasonably priced sweatshirts (good quality too!). If you want to take a drive into Wellfleet-highly recommend Mac's Shack for the raw bar and sushi/lobster roll-center of Wellfleet and different from the one in P-town. Just amazing and relaxing week! Worth every penny😊

Happy Hill was the perfect spot for our group of Mid-Western friends to reconnect. We enjoyed morning coffee and sun on the porch each morning.

The house is nicely updated and very comfortably fit 10 of us. It is in walking distance to an adorable winery and very close to P-town. Everyone in town seemed to know Happy Hill and greeted us warmly! We also found an amazing fish market that delivers lobster dinners to the house!

Rob and Shauna were very helpful throughout the entire process of renting the home and staying in it. They answered questions promptly, provided many great recommendations for our stay, and took time to check in with us once we arrived to make sure we were comfortable.

We would love to come back and stay at Happy Hill again!
